RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Tried to go back to work after quarantine was up for covid... Within thirty minutes I had intense pain in my ribs mirrored in my back, and started coughing again.

I feel like this is a good test run for how well coparenting with my boyfriend would/will go.
May I suggest a cat instead?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I go back to work tomorrow, and I am incredibly anxious about it. I don't want to get sick again. I'm not 100% better, and instead of giving me a light shift my boss gave me a 10hr shift to go back to, and I honestly don't think I'll make that.
I haven't been sleeping, but it isn't been a productive non-sleeping. It's been an anxious, upset, mostly walking my puppy unsleeping.

Everything being described sounds adorably intolerable to me.
Motherfuckers, I have kids, all right.
I feel like this is a good test run for how well coparenting with my boyfriend would/will go. I told him: Unless you are directly supervising the puppy, he needs to be in his crate. Take him out every three hours to potty, and make sure to feed him by X time, he needs to take 3-4 small meals a day. Then went to sleep.
Woke up to puppy pads put down, a sleeping boyfriend, and a puppy who had been given free roam of the bedroom and who took a giant dump on the floor.

Adventures in puppies:
His favorite toy is a kitchen towel. Which he loves biting. Second only to toes, fingers, and ankles. No amount of clapping my hands, high pitched noises, or shouting "ow!" dissuades him trying to chomp on my person.
His beady little brown eyes track my hands every move. Full of an insatiable lust for chewing on my fingers.
He's also smart as hell. I tried doing this thing where you take some kibble or some treats, and you have the dog bed in front of you and the puppy with you. You lure the dog around with the food. Every time he goes onto the bed, you give him a treat. Then you pull the food away to see if he goes to the bed. Within 30 seconds of this exercise he realized that bed = treat, and he refused to be lured away from it, because he knew even if he moved he wasn't getting the treat until he went back on the bed.
He also understands the command for "sit", he just dgaf about it.
He's beginning to learn what the leash means and not run away from it. We're having more luck with potty training by using a crate rather than pee pads.
But taking him outside every 3hrs is kinda exhausting. How does he have so much energy?!

RE: Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews
@macha Oh, sorry! Ilona Andrews is the author. Kate Daniels is the main character of the original series and adoptive mother of the main character from Blood Heirs.
Magic Bites is the first book from Kate's POV. I will note that when I re-read it, the writing had aged a little, but they (Ilona Andrews is actually Ilona and Andrew Gordon a husband and wife duo who write together) are amazing and have just continued to get better as the years have gone by.

Blood Heir by Ilona Andrews
https://www.ilona-andrews.com/2021/blood-heir-tour-signed-copies-and-a-give-away/
The self published spin off book from the Kate Daniels series "Blood Heir" comes out in 8-days. I'm going out of my mind with anticipation. Julie, now known as Aurelia, has changed a lot... So has Derek. I can't wait to see these two kids all grown up and kicking ass.
If you haven't read the Kate Daniels books you can still read this, they do a good job of summarizing things-- but it's probably more emotionally rewarding to have read the main series first.
The ebook is up for pre order, so are paperback copies.

GoFundMe for WoD author
I'm pasting the main text from the GFM, cause I never know what to say... But since we've had a lot of WoD Mu* over the years... I thought I would share:
Nicky Rea and Jackie Cassada have been longtime luminaries of the RPG scene. As authors and designers, they worked on hundreds of titles among over a dozen lines, most notably Changeling: The Dreaming, Mage: The Ascension, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Dungeons & Dragons, and Ravenloft. As a couple, they had been together 57 years, defying many obstacles of gender, race, ageism, industry sexism, and social queerphobia. Despite those impediments, their accomplishments as artists, mentors, and friends have been astonishing.
In December 2020, both Nicky and Jackie contracted Covid-19. Nicky survived, with lasting complications; Jackie passed away on December 29. Between the medical bills, ongoing health concerns, funeral expenses, and the ongoing cost of housing, Nicky Rea could use all the help she can get.
Although they've been prolific authors in popular book series, the industry in which they've worked functions on a work-for-hire model. Thus, Nicky and Jackie did not receive royalties for the majority of their work. Now 69 years old, widowed, with major medical and financial concerns, Nicky needs whatever aid fans of their work can spare, as quickly as possible. Without such aid, Nicky, their pets, and their housemate might soon become homeless.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

I need more pupper photos. My landlord does not allow pets, so I must live vicariously through you to get my pupper fix.

RE: The Dog Thread
We ran around outside to get used to the leash, which he HATES, but loves rolling in the grass. Now he is a tired pupper.
I'm gonna have to time out walks in the future cause we were out for 20 minutes, but from what I read he's only supposed to get 10 minutes of exercise right now.

RE: The Dog Thread
@macha cause he's gonna be the size of a small pony when he grows up, and what you let him do as a puppy he will do as a dog.
