I don't know what I'm doing but I'm going to stream playing the game "Kingdom Death: Monster" via tabletop simulator on twitch. C'mon by and watch me fight horrible, horrible monsters with strangely human hands,

RE: The Work Thread
Thursday my throat started hurting at work. I made it through my shift. The next day (Friday) I woke up feeling like my sinuses were packed and with a general malaise. I'm off on Saturday, and felt terrible the entire day. Off and on chills. Sinuses hurting. Mild cough. Wooziness. Wake up Sunday (today), and feel like absolute death. Just absolutely cannot get out of bed to go to work. Text my boss to say: Hey if I make it at all today I'm going to bed late.
Literally pass back out for two more hours. Wake up to a text of: "I really need you to come in today, we're short staffed and way behind."
I crawl my ass out of bed, drag my work clothing on, and stumble to work. Get there and it is ... not busy. At all. If they're behind at all it's just because they're not moving quick enough to do any of the prep and stuff, not because they're slammed...
Feel terrible. End up puking. Get sent home by COMPLETELY different manager...
FYI: I work in food service. Consider that when you order food.

RE: Euphoria - Feedback
@L-B-Heuschkel said in Euphoria - Feedback:
Most games -- in the MU* hobby and otherwise -- that I am in touch with report the same kind of slump and exhaustion. The same applies in real life -- hell, my neighbour who is usually all but anal retentive about his lawn has more or less let his roof collapse because with all the free time of quarantine, he gets nothing done at all.
It's not a matter of free time but of emotional exhaustion. I suspect that a lot of games and communities are going to need to accept that half or more of the customer base is flying at one quarter impulse until further notice.
Yeah, @Sunny really helped me here. Like I said, I can be patient until people have time. The game doesn't cost me much right now. And I have a handful of people who are around and enjoying themselves. So I'm going to enjoy running stuff with them, and if more people come along later? That'll be grand.
I really just needed to recalibrate my expectations.

RE: Go Fund Me for an Elder
@icanbeyourmuse
Good god. I just read the story of this, for those who haven't read the link:
Police shot 12 cans of tear gas into the home of a blind elderly woman to retrieve a mentally ill person (who may have lived there as well??). Breaking if not all of her windows but the majority of them, and rendering pretty much all of her possessions hazardous to her because of her health conditions, and you know, tear gaz.
@icanbeyourmuse I would highly suggest posting this to reddit and imgur, you'd probably get a further reach.

I know for me personally it was just RL issues. I loved the concept and my character idea but because of RL stuff I had to scale way back on the places I was playing. So decided to stick with the few sites I was already heavily involved in.
Understood. I think that might be the same for a lot of people.

@Cobaltasaurus I really would stress not trying to fit your game around complaints of people who have left. It's like trying to cram a square peg into a round hole.
I'm mostly trying to figure out if there are any really big glaring issues that I can fix.
@LWhiskey said in Euphoria - Feedback:
Also having to rewrite a character application 4 times over several days was frustrating, especially as it was due to a either a lack of lore files, or a rule change in middle of writing the character sheet. Was happy roll with it, but that took out the initial wind in the sails.
I'm sorry about that. The lack of lore is really important. If you can contact me about what lore files affected you, I can make sure that going forward that doesn't happen again.

@Cobaltasaurus Your idle policy says 60 days, but you're enforcing it after 30 days.
This is a big, big oof on me. This is one I'm gonna have to flat out own. In the beginning I said I would wait 60 days. Then I spoke with ESG about how things were going and how I saw a lot of people apping for the department heads and not being particularly active, and my worry that that would impact things negatively, so decided to change to 30 days. And I thought I changed the policy, but double checked and I didn't. That is 100% on me. And a pretty massive fuck up on my part.
Anyone affected by that -- I'm sorry. Only two characters were marked in a way that they couldn't easily come back. And of them only one has been storylined to actually be dead. If either come back I'll retcon or handwavium them back to life.
And from now on go back to the 60-day policy as it's written.
@Sunny said in Euphoria - Feedback:
I know "haven't joined" wasn't exactly the question, but for me I just don't have the oomph to try a new game, particularly when I have a rough time with Ares. I'm not capable of adding anything right now, because even current commitment are too much.
It's not you, it's me -- and you're starting up a game months into a global pandemic. Low engagement is a thing.
Also, people are exhausted. If you try to make exhausted people be something besides not lazy, they will go somewhere they can rest. Even the MMO I play on has stopped idle-purging for the time being. The mush I still have a PC on has really really really really really lax idle/engagement policies, and if it didn't, I would've bailed forever ago.
This is really important, thank you. My personal anxiety sometimes makes it hard to see the bigger picture of things. I can be patient, however. If it's just a matter of "not right now" well. The game costs me all of $5/month. I can keep trucking along for a while.
Thank you everyone for your feedback. I think the biggest take away I need right now is a) be more patient, b) be consistent with my idle policy, and c) just ... be patient.

RE: Euphoria - Feedback
@Tinuviel So if I ran things twice once instead of twice a week, would that be preferable?
ETA: Thanks phone. Twice a month*

Euphoria - Feedback
Okay, the honest truth is that it seems like people are leaving Euphoria more and more. It is getting the point where we have very few people signing up for things and engaging, and making it difficult to sustain plot. So I would like to get Feedback:
If you are someone who has left, or you know someone who has left can you let me know why? I won't take anything said here personally, and you're welcome message me privately or message NGC-6302 on game to talk to her if I'm the problem.
Thank you for any answers shared.

RE: Welcome to the Euphoria - Alpha
A bunch of the first wave of rosters that taken and then never played at all or only played for a scene or two have been placed back on the roster. Except those that I know needed time to settle in.
If you missed one during the initial rush that looked interesting you might have a chance now!

I also would love to see someone app in Marchesa.

Edited to remove a game from the active list.
@Grayson, @SilentHills, @Cobaltasaurus -- with a bit of luck, maybe some day we'll bump into each other somewhere else. Here's to hoping (although admittedly I am not really one to shop around for games a whole lot, I tend to stay in one place for a long time if it works out for me).
Come give Euphoria a try!

RE: Welcome to the Euphoria - Alpha
I've started working on fleshing out a "Civil Services" group for the game. This will be civilians who are social workers, emergency medics, detectives (crime!), peacekeepers, and crisis responders. A lot like what people are trying to replace the RL police force with.
Peacekeepers are a lot like orderlies. They are trained to use non-lethal and as non-violent as possible force with people who need it.
Social workers are either those who check in on people or those who calm down tense situations.
Detective look into committed crimes.
Emergency medics are what it sounds like -- someone who responds to medical emergencies.
I've created three rosters for the team so far and plan to make two or three more tomorrow, and create them a wikipage with more information. The current rosters are:
- https://euphoriamush.com/char/Marchesa (requires an app - director of civil services)
- https://euphoriamush.com/char/Nael (social worker who checks on people and gets people the things they need)
- https://euphoriamush.com/char/Alene (peacekeeper)

RE: Pacing in Ares Scenes
@Roz said in Pacing in Ares Scenes:
There's a lot of "I'd prefer" in the responses, but I don't think that's what was being asked.
The problem is that it isn't cut and dry. It depends on if the scene is specifically stated as a "slow web scene" or a "live scene".
-
RE: Pacing in Ares Scenes
It depends. If I specifically say: Hey lets start up a somewhat slow web-scene. It could be every couple of hours or even days between poses. I appreciate this ability to almost play-by-post with my NPCs on Euphoria because it means that I can keep working on jobs while slowly pushing plot out to people. Or I can still get into interesting social scenes with my PC while not having to just only focus there.
However, if I'm running and event or I look for RP in game with the +RP Requests channel, they I probably want a live scene with quick poses. Especially in the place of events I'm ST'ing. I am putting aside time that I could be doing +jobs or writing theme to run a plot. I want people posing quickly.
