I am not a dog, sir. And I don't mind the code chat. I just like yanking your tail.

RE: RenoMUSH - The Biggest Little Game on the Net
AS a note I'm playing a character currently investigating a murder of an NPC that was connected to the VII, and have been actively trying to bring people in. Currently I'm really looking for someone with computer skills.

Yeah, that box shows up for me too, but on multi-page threads it takes me to the bottom of the first page, not to the last point I read if the last point I read was past the first page.
This is inaccurate in my experience. I've seen it cross several dozen pages to find the last spot I read. Keep in mind it only works on the same machine. If you look at page 1 one Machine A and then read all the way up to page 17 on Machine B, Machine A will still think you're on page 1.
This is the behavior I get as well. If I try to read from my phone or another computer, I basically have to scroll back through things, but if I read from the same machine it takes me right to where I left off.

Are we not friends? I know I'm just an internet stranger but I care about you as a person. My posts of "Hey Cirno, glad you're alive!" whenever you pop up again isn't me being a troll or trying to be cute. I honestly mean I am glad you are not dead in a ditch somewhere, and that you are doing well enough that you can come talk to us/troll us/interact with us through this faceless interface.
Should I not help you (if I could), or care, because we're different looking?

I have never really understood the thing where you all list like five or so nationalities/cultures that you 'are'. It seems to be a New World thing I guess, with all the immigration? I don't understand it, although I find it mildly intresting.
@Coin said:
It's a figure of speech for most people, @Olsson. You'll notice in my initial post I said I come "from [Italian and Spanish and Catalonian] stock". It's a figure of speech. I'm as Italian as you are German. Even less, since I've never been to Italy. I think you're putting too much emphasis on people's use of the verb "to be", here.
This not actually the case with many Americans. At least with the ones that I grew up with.
It really is an American thing, I think. I don't think Canadians do that (eh, @Insomnia?). I think part of it is you get Americans who are all OORAA! AMERICA! OOORAA! FREEDOM!! Or you get the Americans who don't find much cultural identity in their country, and so fall back on the "my ancestors are X Y and Z". I was pretty much rudely shaken from this by a Swiss and an Irish Guild-mates from TSW. I tried to explain that part of it is wanting to claim some pride in heritage and where we came from and got shutdown with a, "But you're X Y OR Z. You're American."
And also as @Luna mentioned earlier in the thread white Americans very often don't feel like they have much culture to claim, so try and claim culture from past ancestors that they don't honestly have ties to anymore.
My last name is Scottish and I grew up on family stories of my great-great-grandfather stowing away on a ship from Scotland to Novia Scottia, and making his way across Canada before he started working as a logger up and down the West Coast. (Oh and the family has a castle back in Scotland -- everyone does, duh.) He eventually died of gangrene in Seattle because he poured a pot of hot coffee on his leg (because he tried to pick it up with his cane, rather than stand up and get it), and never got treatment for it. I grew up on stories of his wife who was a member of the Swinomish tribe and we had a family story of "Annie and the Great White Goat", which was a story about how she was kidnapped and made her way home on a canoe following the Great White Goat.
I have a tribal card somewhere (or did, it got left in Florida and is effectively gone forever now), and that's neat but I am too white to actually go anywhere and claim to be a tribe member. Do I wish I were a little less white and a little more Swinomish? Eh, maybe. I'd feel like I had a better claim to that culture.
I think that deep down that's what it is for most white Americans who claim they are anything but white. As @Luna said earlier in the thread. We feel we're lacking in culture so try to take from others.

RE: Help with STing 7th Sea
There is a house in the forests of Eisen, that moves around, where a witch lives. She lures in unexpected travelers with promise of food and drink and then bakes them in a giant oven.

Recipes!
You got'em? Share'em!
Here's my offering of the day.
Avocado Stuffed Jalapenos!
5 - Jalapenos
1 - 80z package of cream cheese
1 - large avocado
Sprinkling of Shredded Cheese- Cut the jalapenos in half, remove seeds and membranes.
- Boil jalapenos for 10 minutes (you can boil them for a shorter time if you want crunchier / spicier, at about 10 minutes they are very soft and very mild).
- Remove from water and drain.
- Mix half of large avocado with 1/2 to full package of cream cheese (I'd suggest starting with half, and seeing if the avocado / cream cheese taste is good), blending them with a handmixer (or food processors, or a wooden mallet whatever) until smooth.
- Spoon approximately one spoonful (I used a regular average eating spoon for it, so somewhere between a tea and tablespoon) to each jalapeno.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake in oven for about 5-10 minutes (til desired meltiness of cheese).
- Let cool for 5 minutes.
- DEVOUR.
This should make approximately 10-half stuffed jalapaneos. I did a batch with 5 of the halves, saving the other 5 for later. I may have extra stuffing-mixture left after. So you could probably get away with using 6-8 jalapenos, if you want to make a large batch for people.
ETA: I feel a need to add a disclaimer.
After you have cut your jalapenos and put them in to boil you should wash your hands VERY VERY well. I'd suggest doing a 30-second wash (sing happy birthday to yourself twice), otherwise you WILL have residual spiciness on your fingers and that will be very unpleasant if you touch your eyes.

Samantha, Lorelei, & Others @ Wildcard MUX
Hi hi!
I'm looking for some wildcard folks who have disappeared. Specifically: Samantha and Lorelei from the pard. Cheyenne from the pack. The folks that have been sticking and around and I are about ready to move the current plot to 'finished'. So now would be a really good time for folks to come back, if you plan to.
Otherwise I guess I'll be recruiting for alphas and leaders of the different groups!

I think the name of this thread should be changed to: "The Rape RP Thread".
Since it is clearly not about discussing sexual themes in RP.

RE: [Ethnicity Thread] Who Do You Think You Are?
I used to think that I was SUPER PALE WHITE (I lived in Florida), as I don't really tan -- and I do sunburn but it mostly just turns pink rather than red or anything, and then the skin underneath is more peachy/pinky afterward.
However. I live in the Pacific Northwest again, and have learned that I am not nearly so pale as I thought. I am a pleasant sort of peachy color. Unlike the girl I saw walk past me at campus the other day, in cut-off hot pants that exposed the entirety of her Glow In The Dark Bone White legs. The sun glinted off of her calves and I was blinded.
