RE: Halicron's Rules For Good RP (which be more like guidelines)

I don't usually get snippy about stuff like this but you got snarky about an otherwise well-written pose because of its length so I took a cheap shot at you. I kinda felt bad about it though if that helps.
I didn't, but I'm a horrible person so that's not a surprise.
P.S. I think that commas are important; that the Oxford Comma gets a bad rap; and that you should always, always use a semi-colon to separate items in a list if that list is in the form of a sentence and one of those items contains a comma in it, even if those commas are helping something superfluous, such as word repetition for emphatization or the explanation of something pointless in an overly long sentence that didn't need to exist in the first place and that no one really wants to read anyway.

@Coin Your mom did.
Actually, since I gave you the name and I was a bump in my mom's tummy for at least 8-and-change months, if not 9, then I suppose. But really it was me.
You're just to PROUD, dammit.

Yes.
Who put the bump in bump in the night, bah-bump?

@Coin It's a lot easier these days since a lot of my appstaffing is in re: Transformers.
So you wouldn't approve my down-on-his-luck, sucks-fuel-exhaust-for-energon version of Jazz?
Dang.

Got it!

I tend to discourage people apping sex workers generally, though, because it's a topic I insist be handled respectfully, and most people in RP don't really do that.
Good luck with that!

No offense but if that six line nod pose is an example of good rp to you, I sincerely hope we never rp.
honestly I read all the way through it here but in actual rp. I doubt I would have, you would have lost me no later then remembering the cigarette in your fingers. No offense but I get the same reaction from poorly spell checked writing.

I think you're more responding to Faraday!
But I agree with you--I think most people are pretty cool when their professions are "fictionalized" (I get twitchy about LMPs and social workers, though there ARE sex worker LMPs no doubt and crappy social workers, but the stereotypes really bug me, but I keep my mouth shut unless someone happens to /ask/), but people who snottily correct or clog up a scene with excessive detail inappropriate to what other folks are doing are annoying.
LMP?

RE: MU* concept oddities
Not really a MU--more of a game that started on LiveJournal and then moved to a mix of LJ and private MU game when the majority of the players either turned out to be MUers or became such, but there was a game I loved where we all played the reincarnations of dead authors and poets. I met @Gingerlily there, along with many others. It's kind of irreplaceable. I'm pretty sure if I said "oh, I am considering restarting this" I would have a legion of people from the old game yelling "hooray", but I don't have the drive at the moment. Back when it existed, though, I couldn't really RP anywhere else--it was time intensive mostly because it was so submersive for me. Some people found it a lot more intense than others. Like all games, it had its share of crazy shit, but for the most part, even when there were hard OOC feelings involved, people tended to ... I don't know ... for the most part be civil, barring a very few crazy moments. I think it helps a lot that there was a lot of transparency in character action and even intent.

Nordic LARP Methodology sounds like it is simultaneously the best and the worst band name ever.
It also sounds like the process which leads to Scandinavian heavy metal bands getting lost in forests and whatnot during photoshoots.

Fuck I wish my job let me yell at people.
I would be five times as efficient and effective at my job if I were allowed to yell at people when they do things wrong for the third fucking time.
I would probably get yelled at some, too, but not as much as certain fucktards I know.

RE: Couples who MU together
@GangOfDolls said:
It's when RL couples who are also an IC item become weird echo chambers of behavior or ideas-- that's what gets weird feels to me.
Example:
PC has a harsh, slightly creepy, overreactionary, not fun to RP with reaction to in game events. In most cases, you can just say: welp! IC opinion noted! That's creepy, I guess I won't go out of my way to interact with that!
Except the spouse if this player who is also the PC partner has adopted the same position based on what I assume is a little bit of finding out IC but mostly OOC discussion about it.
So now, it's two PCs going overboard and overreacting. I mean, all it's going to do is make it unattractive to RP with both of them but there's often a certain groupthought that takes over. It happens in playgroups of all kinds, though where the view of one PC or its player becomes the unexamined mascot for everyone else connected.
This isn't really limited to OOC couples, though. This happens all the times between just friends who at the time are talking on Skype every day.

RE: DMs, GMs, STs: Do you fudge rolls?
I fudge sometimes. I generally only fudge in favor of the player or of the story. Mages make the latter difficult, but that's just because it takes a lot more work to create an intriguing and difficult mystery for them.
I had Theno make "rolling blind" possible on Eldritch both to keep the mystery, and also because of this, somewhat.
However, if your character does something monumentally dangerous, that is obviously so, with prior warning, and they suffer for it--no fudging. If a character dies outright, I don't tend to fudge rolls; I may fudge time constraints, etc., if they are, say, "bleeding out" or whatever.
One thing that CofD has that makes this super easy is Conditions, basically because if I have to fudge a roll, I can, and then I can give the player who's (allegedly) getting the shaft a beneficial Condition.
Sure, your perception roll would have ruined my scene so I fudged it so you wouldn't see something--but now you have the Attentive Condition, which you can resolve next time you're going to be ambushed to avoid the effects of being surprised (i.e. you'rfe so attent to your surroundings you apply your Defense against a succesful ambush attempt) You also gain a beat when you Resolve it.
So yeah, I fudged--but you got something out of it.

RE: Question on NWoD combat
It's true! I forgot that. Although, technically you only have your Defense against other people, not against the one you're in a grapple with. Fun.
-
RE: Question on NWoD combat
@ShelBeast is right, though I would add that it has less to do with it "not being an attack roll" (you can still 'attack' in a grapple roll, since there are maneuvers that do damage) and more to do with "Defense is not applicable in a grapple" (which means you have no Defense to sacrifice.
I make this distinction mostly because not having a defense can apply to other situations and should be considered when it comes time to decide whether you can make an all/out attack or not.
