I suspect the reduced number of episodes and the cutting of filler bullshit is due to them wanting more of their budget for effects (i.e. MOAR DRAGONZ and stuff).

@Meg is becoming an expert at Dad Jokes.
I worry.
I have a running joke on one of my RL friends who makes dad jokes all the time. My theory is that he's a dad, he just doesn't know it, but the instinct is too strong.
So I have several theories of who has had his child and how they have different facebook accounts to keep it a secret from him.

Kissing is ... good.
However, I love those 'getting to know someone' all nighters. The ones where you stay up all night and you just talk and never run out of things to say. You just want to share and they want to learn and vice versa. I miss those in a new relationship (friendships count too).
Unfortunate my date was on a fucking Tuesday because we're adults with anxiety, but yeah. Def.

One real life thing I love, more than many many other things, is summer.
Not working for 2 months is amazing, and I get to do it every year. I think every profession should be 'on 10 months, off 2' Productivity will plummet and we'll all be struggling financially but relaxing on the porch with my coffee every morning is BLISS.
I wish it wasn't already August. They go by SO fast.
I don't think producitivity would plummet; it's just a matter of organization. Same with amount of hours per day worked.
Capitalism convinces us we need to do things with the intensity and enormity we do now, but it's a lie.
@Coin for President!
But for true, I'm going to part time next year. One hour over half time. In part for my health and the migraines, but also heavily for my work/life balance. I want to get home from work and have the mental and physical energy to be a parent, to exercise properly, to keep the house in good shape, and to nap and read novels. It's going to be AMAZING except for my paycheck in comparison. Still, AMAZING.
Answer ya damn gtalk.

@Auspice I saw this last night and had just already assumed it had been renewed ages ago.
With the struggles Netflix has had this year, I'm guessing they're having to hold off a bit longer now on their renewals.

Money is a poor motivator for coders, not because programmers don't appreciate it, but because generally speaking if that's what they're after they can get paid way better for the amount of time they'd need to spend on a MUSH than that.
If you want a programmer they need to be enticed the old-fashioned way; befriend one, make them excited in your vision, get them involved in making something they agree would be really cool to be part of.
My experience with @Thenomain corroborates this statement.
Rumor has it Coin befriended his mom first.
Rumor?
I'm sure his mom has documented proof.
Just like yours.

Now I can stare at it for long hours, sipping brandy, and contemplating how I'll never be able to have my own MU.
The key, of course, is to design a mush based on a theme that appeals enough to existing coders to draw them in so they can help you
7th Sea.
Fallout.
The Strange.
Anything @Coin mentions is vaguely interesting. (And a Your Mom joke here, because it’s Coin.)
What are yours, Ashen?
I think this is largely because I've learned to talk to you and can probably distill the things about a theme/setting/franchise/game that would interest you and capitalize on them.
(Your mom preempts Your Mom jokes.)

Question 2
I'm going to come down on an unpopular side, I suspect. MU* servers are UTTERLY FUCKING TERRIBLE for navigating complicated or lengthy information. If the only "news" entry is "our web site at address http://foo.bar/baz contains all game information we have" then I'd be absolutely ecstatic (presuming it's an actual web site and not just "news"-style files hastily wrapped in <html></html> headers).
That being said, the advantages of web sites are lost if you don't make use of their advantages. Inline topical links (not links at the bottom where in news it would say "see also news foo, news bar, news baz") are vital. As is, unlike MU*-oriented information, not chunking the information at arbitrary levels. (That's what "paragraphs" are for, not entirely new pages.)
I'm actually kind of shocked that there are people who'd prefer to read things in their client still.
I am downright fucking apalled and believe such people should be burned at the stake.
I often overreact.
THIS ISN'T ONE OF THOSE TIMES. >:/

@Coin said in Where do you draw the line in having your character take what would otherwise be an "IC" action for them?:
Too many long-winded replies to read.
My answer is pretty straightforward: whatever I, the player, decide the character is going to do, is what is IC for the character.
Source: MY REAL LIFE FUCKING EXPERIENCE.
I am a fully fleshed out real life person who makes real life decisions on a daily basis and those decisions do not, under any criteria ever posited by any roleplayer (or critic of television or literature), follow any sort of consistency.
While what @Coin said is true on one level-- ultimately you the writer is responsible for what the character does and whatever you decide is right-- I think it dismisses character-building that goes on in my head, at least.
My characters aren't perfectly consistent, but they have habits, they have different personalities and drives, and aren't just arbitrary. And I, as a fully fleshed out real life person, am fairly consistent. I try to approach that level of consistency with my characters, too.
I try to be true to my character and what I call "the Voice I hear in my head" when a character reaches a certain level of depth. That said, previous comment indicated this is never an excuse, and when it comes to having a fun environment I'll adjust it within reason. (If I adjust too much I might lose the Voice and maybe that is just a character that isn't fun in the current environment/play-group to play-- so maybe I should consider dropping it)
I feel like you're missing the part where I said, " under any criteria ever posited by any roleplayer (or critic of television or literature)," which is the crux of my position.

You keep bragging about the flesh you collect, so I believe it. The human suit you are making out of it almost masks your demonic nature.

I don’t think anyone needs to be on the spectrum to tangent a conversation like that. I can better imagine being upset because someone hijacked your conversation, and that is kind of a dick thing to do, especially when you’re trying to share and be helpful. It feels like a bit of a slap in the face.
c.f., this entire forum.
Some people like getting slapped in the face though. Like this one time, at band camp...

RE: RL Anger

Months after my family cut me off I get a text today from my mom saying she is 'praying for me'.
So few Christians seem to understand that Jesus told you to pray for people because they were already damned. Once damned, only through prayer and forgiveness could you be welcomed back to God.
It tickles me in the irony when people say that they are praying for another person to receive good fortune, because that's clearly not how it goes.
Thank God I'm Catholic.
I kind of get the impression @Admiral's mom absolutely understands that and she already thinks he's damned, which is the problem.

The Shades of Magic trilogy, which I am finishing.
I am already sort of working in my head with ideas on how to use nWoD rules for it, to be honest.
Because I would play the FUCK out of all of that.
