RE: New OC Star Wars MUSH Set in Satellite galaxy -- Come RP With Us!

FYI, this comes off super salty and snobby.
True, but also accurate.
If I advertise that I'm selling cheeseburgers only with bacon instead of beef and lettuce and tomato instead of cheese, I'm actually selling BLTs. Both are delicious sandwiches, but they aren't the same thing. Honestly, I am kind of curious why someone would limit themselves to an established IP, when they're utilizing hardly anything from that IP.

You can be accurate without coming off salty and snobby;
-
Because they feel like it.
Maybe instead, they could have said, "this just doesn't feel like Star Wars to me" and it would have accomplished the message without also being negative in an ad thread. That's what the Hog Pit's for.

@medela So...you have a Star Wars Mush. Except it isn't set in the Galaxy, doesn't have Sith, Jedi, the Empire, the Alliance/Republic, or any of the familiar races.
So you don't really have a Star Wars Mush. You have an original concept Sci-Fi Mush.
FYI, this comes off super salty and snobby.

@Warma-Sheen Just note, Wayward Sisters would have done fine outside of Supernatural. Jodi and Donna are absolutely beloved by the fanbase. CW literally loathes most female leads though, and they bailed on it without even giving it a chance saying "bloodlines" had a better shot creatively then bailing on that as well.
Jodi and Donna are loved, but the girls weren't. And they were supposed to be the main characters of that show as evidenced by the pilot's title. I don't loathe female leads at all but this wasn't a spinoff about Jodi and/or Donna. It was about three bratty girls I can't name. Pass.
The girls weren't because they only got that one episode (and a couple of episodes here and there before/after). Jodie and Donna could have pulled the weight until the girls grew into the characters. I feel like the biggest problem was "backdoor pilots".
Like, "the show wasn't going to be good because it's not exclusively about these beloved characters but also about these other characters with whom the former have a rapport and relationship" is a harsh take. It's not like it was given an actual chance.

Except the Savage Skies is WW2 era alt history with dragons and high-tech and magic. I don't think it sounds very similar at all.
Well, yeah, but swap the dragons and magic for sci-fi alien stuff, and --
And you still have 1950s atomicpunk aesthetic instead of 1930s dieselpunk/dragon aesthetic.
It's similar in concept but it would prove to be wildly different in practice, I suspect.

RE: Good TV
Is anyone else watching assorted horror movies or shows and find themselves thinking at times "how long would this last if Sam and Dean just happened to drive by?"
During a con, Ackles said that The Vampires Diaries should end with the Impala rolling into Mystic Falls. XD

@Lemon-Fox I have a whole rollodex of characters to throw at chargen, SOME OF WHOM are not direct knockoffs of Legend of Dragoon characters.
Legend of the Dragoon was the fucking best.

Wayward Sisters which is the one you're thinking of, about two women in their 40s-50s hunting people with the help of Castiel's Vessel's daughter and a tween vampire nurse.
Huh. For some reason, I thought they were, uh, the mother-daughter team from the first four or five seasons. I forget their names. But thanks for clarifying that. I guess I got some titles to look up now.
Ellen and Jo.
No, they ded. They real ded. They would have made a fucking amazing spin-off, though, frankly.

@GreenFlashlight said in Good TV:
@Warma-Sheen They did spin-offs? I vaguely remember hearing about one starring two women, but there were others?
Two, not three.
First one was Bloodlines, which was like a Romeo & Juliet with monsters; and Wayward Sisters which is the one you're thinking of, about two women in their 40s-50s hunting people with the help of Castiel's Vessel's daughter and a tween vampire nurse.

I had also started sketching out how I'd accent Theno's CoFD system with an HTML friendly interface too! >.<.
This is what I was most interested in, for sure. A web portal-friendly CofD set-up would be a game changer.

This has nothing to with either MUX or Pueblo now!
This makes me sad. I was looking forward to a web portal interface for MUX.
Ah well.

@Coin Thanks! I was really reluctant to put the effort in since MUX is getting pretty long toothed. But, I saw that Brazil had released a patch within the last few months. Good enough for me.
I've plans to do this with Rhost as well. That'll be a bit more involved though - and WAY more server customization.
It'll be nice to start getting portal-level access and stuff with codebases other than Ares. I know a lot of people will appreciate it.

RE: MUX web portal experiments. :3
@Kumakun That looks pretty fuckin' neat.

RE: Interest Check: Exalted 3rd ed Mu
I'd rather the second, too.
Though to be honest, an Exalted MU sounds best if done... how do I put this...
What i think you want is a small-ish game where you handle a specific story (maybe you run Nexus plots and those are the 'staff plots') and let other people sort of sandbox/PRP/run plots in the rest of Creation (with big ones that chang political alliances and whatnot needing to be run through you real quick first).
Mostly because I think Exalted need room to stretch their powers and that's the best way to do it, IMO.
What are you gonna do about the sheets/roller/code/etc?

Scion 2E is juuuust coming out, but only backers have purchased copies.
I haven't noticed any huge differences, but I havent been digging into it.
I sorta like the idea of doing the scion world but with another super powers game system.
There are enormous differences, iirc, from 1e.

Is Scion the one where you play as kids of gods? Because I could be down with playing a kid of Anubis or something like that.
It gets a little more complex/intricate/varied in 2E (thankfully), but yes.

Anyone wanna do something like this? I'm starting to get tired of nWoD/COD, so I wanna go do some Scion-y shenanigans. I could open up a small server or maybe open up an AresMUSH that uses Scion2E and just have people post their sheets.
If anyone's interested lemme know.
I mean, yeah, kinda.
