She's one of those people who I absolutely cannot roleplay with online, but get along with pretty well with in RL. She does spin an excellent yarn, is noted for her inclusivity in terms of sexuality, body shape, ethnicity, etc in her writing. She's won a handful of awards that were well deserved, and having read and enjoyed her work, I don't have a problem saying as much.

I just found out someone I used to table top with, who ran games I played in, games I enjoyed? Is a white supremacist. Not just a rando Trump supporting person who is blithely unaware of their own racism, but an active white supremacist who finds value in the "fourteen words" and has his own youtube channel where people laud his racist, anti-Semitic sentiments.

Finding out made me want to bleach my insides and scrub my skin raw. I haven't talked to this guy in years, but it just hit me so hard.

I can only afford to give one dog a home, but my local greyhound rescue found 1 year old littermates, boy and girl, who were shipped over from the UAE. I don't have baby fever, I have puppy fever. Their names are Taruh and Talia:

@sunny I am fascinated by this saga from a social experiment perspective. Keep us posted! And also, maybe turn it around on her and ask her why she's so worried about it? I bet the answer would be...intriguing.

Is anyone else watching Dietland? It's excellent, and the aftershow hosted by Aisha Tyler called Unapologetic is also great. The whole time isn't spent talking about the show; they discuss issues of interest from an intersectional feminist perspective.

I don't like being called things like "kiddo" and "baby". I find them infantilizing. So when I ask people to stop, I try to do it politely.

I am not interested in you explaining to me what "kiddo" means, nor am I interested in you listing the other terms of endearment you enjoy using. If I ask you politely not to call me something, be a decent person and stop. Ask me if x,y, or z is okay instead if you like, or ask for a suggestion.

Because it's not about how you regard the term, it's about how the term makes me feel.

Resurrecting this thread! I'm doing a walkathon for my local greyhound rescue group. Even a $5 donation can supply treats for the dogs for a week. My original goal was $1,000 but if I can make it to $500 I would be super happy. Please consider donating!
