RE: Sully @ SanFran?
@sab Good to see you, man! The sphere is under new management, but I imagine as long as you weren't purged, it'll be okay for you to come back.

RE: Good TV
The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell on Netflix is absolutely delightful, assuming you enjoy cooking/crafting shows, Henson puppets, and the macabre.
That being said, arachnophobics may want to watch with a friend who can give them a heads up during a couple of brief sequences.

RE: RL Anger
I take my dog to a local gated field for when he needs to do some sprinting. I've known for months that someone is living there, because there's a tarp under some trees with their stuff and every now and then the configuration changes. But until yesterday I had never seen that person.
Who as it turns out, is a late teens/early twenty-something trans girl. My heart just broke for her. I gave her my phone number and gave her a ride to the mall so she could charge her phone. I'm seriously considering stopping at the grocery store on my way there this afternoon and picking up some bread and peanut butter so she has something to eat.
I'm hesitant to contact any kind of services because I worry she'll get kicked out of the field. I think the only reason she hasn't been so far is that no one has noticed her. I don't want to be responsible for her being kicked out of the only place she has to sleep.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@surreality I never understood the importance of taking a vacation that wasn't about some kind of purposeful event, ie a holiday, a celebration, visiting relatives, etc and generally my "vacations" were always about that.
And then for the first time I got to take a vacation solely for the purpose of taking a vacation, and doing things I never get to do, seeing things I don't often see, eating amazing food, and generally doing whatever the fuck I want within reason.
Unsurprisingly, it was amazeballs, but what truly surprised me was how I felt after it was over. I had been burned out for so long that I didn't just feel ready to go back to work, I was positive about it. And I can feel it sustaining me so that maybe in another year or two I'll do another awesome vacation so I can perpetuate this level of energy and connection. Basically, my thing is that I want to encourage you to take a vacation purely for the sake of vacation, if and when you have the opportunity to do so. I promise it is worth it. It's an investment in yourself.

RE: Miami, Blood in the Water
I'm looking at making a motley of Lost who are part of the Italian Renaissance Festival held at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Entertainers, artisans, chefs, psychics, tour guides, gardeners, anything along those lines could fit in. In RL present day the festival is no longer held and is only annual, but in pretend fun time Miami, this could be quite different. I've always thought this Ren Faire subculture would be an excellent place for Lost. PM If you're interested.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
So during a follow up with my doctor's office NP, we ended up talking about how last week was particularly hard for me, and about how I've been feeling generally kind of on a downward spiral with the Kavanaugh bullshit making it worse. We reviewed my medication and she thinks I'm overmedicating, and has proposed a new combo for me to try. Apparently one pill (makes you smaller) tends to address anxiety more directly and what I'm adding to the regimen will more directly address depression.
I'm a little wary because mental illness meds are often a crap shoot, but I'm willing to give it a try if it can make me feel better and in turn more willing to make healthy choices, which I admit of late I have not been doing, like, at all. It's really hard not to feel hopeless lately, which generally leads to the notion of being out of fucks. Hopefully the new combo will do me better.

RE: Good TV
Do other people feel the same way when I experience the desire to be Garnet when I grow up or is it just me?

RE: Good TV
Where are all of the Steven Universe fans? There have to be some here. I'm binging it and I'm obsessed. Like, "possibly trying to DIY an Amethyst costume for Halloween" obsessed.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
I went from being super excited about this project to questioning whether or not I should leave the genre be. Would trying wind up drawing me back into old unconscious behaviors, or are the changes I've made merit trying again, given the difference in who I am now?
Either way, I'd love to see a Buffy themed game out there, regardless of whether I play on it or not. And while we're thinking about it, a Teen Wolf game, on its own, could be awesome. Both shows are inclusive in terms of female empowerment and LGBTQ themes, though TW has a slight edge when it comes to racial diversity. But Buffy was a stepping stone for Teen Wolf to get where it got.
(Seriously though, banshee powers make NO sense at all.)

Everyone changes, dude.
Example: I was Ulricke at DuneMUSH III.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
There actually was a hot mess of a Buffy game set in Cleveland (all Buffy games are hot messes to date, yes, ALL of them): Covenant. Which is worth noting if you want to avoid locales previously played.

RE: Potential Buffy Game
The real question that needs to be asked, regardless of the location, is:
But does it have a Hellmouth?

RE: Potential Buffy Game
Despite my nigh-infamous bad luck with Buffy games, I am so there for this. And basically, what @Cobaltasaurus said: take what works from the canon and don't worry about what doesn't.
I am pretty much fucking obsessed with the canon though, and I'm pretty comfy with the Eden system if that's what you're using.

RE: RL things I love
A friend of mine from a while back has a passion for World Building, and came up with a concept he calls A Thousand Little Gods. He had friends volunteer themselves on Facebook to be conceptualized as deities, notable heroes (and villains) and magical creatures. I don't know if he plans to write something or build a game or what, but the concept is really cool, and he's prolific enough that now he has a wiki.
I have the honor of having both a deity and a villain named and conceptualized as part of his work:

RE: Hugo 2018
@shincashay
As Seanan McGuire, she has the October Daye series, the Incrypted series, and the Wayward Children series. I prefer the latter two, though her first series is extremely popular. The first series has shout outs to a lot of old Changeling the Dreaming RP which kind of throws me off. There's also a ton of anthologies and novellas.
She has a pen name as well: Mira Grant. She's written the Newsflesh series (I highly recommend), the Parsitology series, and Into the Drowning Deep, a stand alone novel based on an earlier novella she wrote. She uses the Mira Grant pen name for her works that are more horror/scifi oriented, while under her real name she focuses on urban fantasy.
If you really dig deep, you can probably find her fanfic (both based on genre media and MU* based, and often a combo of both), and her Velveteen series.
She's prolific.
