I actually don't think that we've really seen a clear example of the daily life of Wakandan citizens; we've only seen the upper echelons of their society. I don't think that the rest of their people are considered third world citizens. I do think that this assumption is due to a lack of understanding when it comes to Afrofuturism and how tribal societies entertwine with modern technologies.

Likewise, the tribes aren't just work groups, and even if they were, they'd still be micro-cultures in their own right, with their own hierarchies and representation, as indicated in the movie.

I'm leaning into a character. I'm debating between joining an established House, or picking up Zanetti as weapon manufacturers (cannon, swords, gunpowder, etc) provided they're in theme.

But the A sisters also seem hella fun. Torn!

Into the Badlands

Historical Period games, beyond just "lord and lady", ie Lovecraft in the Roaring 20's, Victorian era WoD, World War 1 such and such, you get the idea.

@jealousy I've looked at three Houses, but only one clearly indicated what they do - banking, on the House page. Is there someplace I should look to see this info that I'm not intuiting?

I guess maybe I'm just lazy, but I'm of little brain for making up Houses whole-cloth, and would like to see established noble Houses with different themes and focus. Maybe one is merchants. Maybe another are experts in horsemanship. Maybe those guys over there have a thing for sailing. And so on, and so forth.

Troy was pretty "ehhh" for me, it passed the time. But in fairness, it was filmed as a mini-series and a one shot deal. I think. I mean, they could opt for the Odyssey. And Odysseus was at least one of the more interesting characters to follow. I wish they'd followed up on some of the aftermath though, like what Agamemnon has waiting for him back home.

Into the Badlands also started back up this week, and I don't think I will ever stop living this show. The visuals, the choreography, the storyline, it's one of the few shows I will sit up to watch live at airing.

I'm interested, but I'd really like to see some flavor in terms of the Houses before picking one.

Has anyone, particular folks living in New Zealand, had a chance to see The Changeover? The novel played a prominent role in my young adult reading as a teenage girl, and Margaret Mahy is considered one of New Zealand's most notable authors.

I am vey tentatively rolling around the notion of getting into slam poetry because I have a lot to say. But I also have the blog project I want to do, and I'm halfway through the year and have made zero progress.

@ganymede My paternal brothers are blue collar guys who love Jesus and drive trucks and work with their hands and aren't what you'd call readers and probably voted for Trump. And I know that makes me sound like an elitist intellectual snob. TI don't have patience for their lack of critical thinking a lot of the time, and it shows. As much as I'd like to visit them, I feel like it's going to take enormous self-control to do so.

@ganymede I would never tell anyone that they have to love someone because they are family. That is absolutely bullshit.

But I do love my brothers from both parents. I have even cut one of them out of my life almost entirely because of things he has said to me that were grossly misogynistic. I don'tI have to accept their beliefs, attitudes, political alignments, etc. But that's me. And this is definitely not me telling anyone else how to related to their families.
