Aww, I remember Vera! I tried to recruit her into the Ordo Dracul on TR with Viveca.

VTM: Bloodlines -- To Mod, Or Not To Mod?
So yeah, I admit it: I started puttering around with Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines again, in part to deal with waiting for Bloodlines 2 to come out later this year. I've played through several times with just the official patch, but haven't really tried modding it aside from light tinkering (but never actually playing, to my recollection) of the Unofficial Patch.
I did an uninstall of the game because I had a (much) older version of the Unofficial Patch, and was considering tinkering with it. But I also confess, I'm sorta pondering some other mods: namely, stuff like Clan Quest, Antitribu (because there is a part of me that seriously wants to play a Lasombra) and the like.
So, I was wondering: has anyone here played any of the mods for VTM Bloodlines? And if so, what mod and what was your experience with it?

RE: TheOnceler’s Playlist
Shame, in some ways. The premise for PI was actually pretty intriguing: the villains finally wised up, worked together and dealt with the heroes... and then nearly succeeded when Project Infinity was about to go live and make new superheroes... only to instead open up rifts through space-time around the city setting and bring in heroes and villains alike. I think the place might have worked if the original incarnation of staff hadn't burned out -- once the turnover began and the second generation of staff moved in and added to staff ranks with their friends, though, it went downhill fast.

RE: Your Opinions of These Games
I missed the Eldritch boat, alas -- I actually went and hunted up Demon PDFs so that I could potentially take a look at it, but like I said -- missed out.
F&L: I've had problems getting into it as well. My first character, I wound up freezing inside of two weeks after approval because my one covenant-mate got kidnapped and held captive for a week and a half or thereabouts, then summarily PKed (all under the auspices of the person who PK'ed my covenant-mate supposedly trying to ransom him off, except he never actually did attempt to ransom him off and the physical violence-heavy atmosphere was so strong at the beginning that I couldn't even begin to investigate before deciding to freeze. Took me several months to finally put together a new concept, but everything moves so fast (and the physical violence is still aplenty there) that I couldn't attempt to keep up. I log in still, but I only rarely chat OOC on the Vampire channel, and I think I've had all of one person in the month+ I've been there express any interest in RP. As it is, I'm probably gonna hang it up before long and just not bother -- I like Luxor well enough, but as fast as things move, I can't keep up with that, especially not with me being much busier at a couple of other places.

RE: TheOnceler’s Playlist
I am sorry you played on Project Infinity. I tried to play there (it was my first MUSH) because it seemed like an interesting theme, way back in... 1998, I think it was. The problem was when the first generation of staffers stepped down shortly after I joined and the second generation took over (the Zodiac Conspiracy clique). Trying to play any sort of hero was grounds for that itineration of staff to curbstomp you and railroad you into a corner from which you could never, ever escape. Pretty much the moment I found MetaMUX and then a couple of other games, I left and never looked back.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Admiral Whoa, for serious? Is it related in any way to the RTS Dawn of War series, or a completely new property?
@Arkandel I occasionally watch YouTube for build ideas, and Rhykker's apparently updated the "Captain America" build with Blessed Shield -- as if I didn't already have enough grinding to do. And I still need to get a Demon Hunter into play, because they're just the shit -- best parts of Amazon and Assassin rolled into one, IMO.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Arkandel I'm not fond of hardcore either -- and I've been incredibly lazy about leveling up my necro in Diablo 3, mostly because it's my first Diablo 3 character after switching over to PS4. Doesn't help that Fallout 4 sucked a good month of my life away back at the start of the summer, either.
Right now, I'm playing Neverwinter on PS4 and marking time for Wednesday... because I know some people may love it, and others may hate it, but I'm planning to be up at midnight for the rolling open of Destiny 2 (I even have Wednesday through the following Sunday off from work for it, geek with no life that I am).

Thread necromancy, yo.
I updated things a little in my playlist.

RE: DC Game Wanted
Part of me has entertained the seeming insanity of seeing how much support a LSH-based MU* might have. I never really got into the Legion until Brave and the Bold MUSH, which used the Zero Hour reboot of Legion continuity -- the Threeboot stuff with Final Crisis and Legion of Three Worlds didn't hold all that much appeal to me, though (probably because Kinetix was one of my favorite female characters in the Zero Hour continuity, and they went and killed her off there).
My idea, though, was to blend Zero Hour reboot with certain other elements -- the introduction of Rokk, Imra and Garth in Smallville and their plans for Brainiac Five, for instance. But then, I've also understood that the Legion is gonna play a decent role in the last half of Supergirl Season Two, so I'm interested to see where that goes.

RE: Skyrim Special Edition (also, Mods!)
@Kanye-Qwest said in Skyrim Special Edition (also, Mods!):
@darksabrz
Not sure, but you said you are playing on PC? Or Xbone? See if you can find immersive armors for your version. That's a pretty great mod that adds about 100 new types of armor you can craft. Is cool.I'm playing on Xbox One, but I do also have it for PC. Immersive Armors (and Weapons, for that matter) have yet to hit the Xbox/PlayStation mods -- probably for the same reason as Moonlight Tales (in that it requires a script extender which Xbox and PS4 can't utilize, and PS4 in particular is boned on getting it unless Sony backs down from the "no external assets" stance they're taking with Bethesda).
-
RE: Skyrim Special Edition (also, Mods!)
@Derp: I haven't yet upgraded to SE for the PC yet (I can do it for free, just haven't done so yet). Skyrim on Xbox 360 was my first foray into the Elder Scrolls universe; I'm currently playing it on Xbox One (one of the few times Xbox has the upper hand on Sony, given how anal Sony is being right now about external assets). So, alas, I can't get the achievement unlocker for playing with mods -- hasn't been ported over, at least not that I've seen, but I'll look again to make sure.
Right now, aside from Moonlight Tales for werewolf overhaul purposes, I really wish there was a means of making more armors (such as chainmail, for instance). I sorta have another crazy idea of trying to port over Chandra Nalaar from Magic: The Gathering and make her into a Breton pyromancer.
I tend to have lots of crazy ideas for RP backgrounds for characters.

RE: Skyrim Special Edition (also, Mods!)
Surprisingly enough, I'm playing an unmodded playthrough -- basically, to get as many of the achievements as possible. Once that's done, however... get some mods to pretty up the female characters tastefully, and I'm looking at some other mods as well, such as Better Vampires, Apocalypse: Magic of Skyrim and more. So far, I've completed the Dark Brotherhood questline, and have all the other faction side-quests started aside from Dawnguard (just spoke with Durak is all there) and the Civil War.
One mod I'm hoping to see, but it's gonna be a while (if ever, due to script extenders) is Moonlight Tales -- a werewolf/werebear overhaul. I have this crazy idea of getting the Snow Elf playable race mod and making the character into a white-furred werewolf running a dual-cast Frost Cloak, the best Mage Armor spells I can find, so on and so forth.
@Derp: This is gonna sound crazy, but add Alchemy to that dual-wield bound swords. There's a lovely potion you can make (Hanging Moss + Canis Root + Juniper Berries) that does Fortify One-Handed/Fortify Marksman -- interestingly, there's a bug with Fortify Marksman that allows it to boost the damage of all weapons, not just ranged -- effectively, it'll double the Fortify One-Handed bonus to damage. Makes Bound Sword viable the entire way. Also, assuming you're taking that whole perk tree for bound weapons, go with Slow Time to make things more fun.

Storytelling Advice
So! I admit it -- I've never seen Storytelling (or being the one running plots) as a strength of mine. I've tried before, whether it be Transformers, Star Wars, superheroes or WoD/CoD, but I've always felt... inferior when it comes to running stuff as opposed to other people who are lauded for their Storytelling ability. And I'm a person that likes to write, to come up with plot ideas that sound cool and people tell me they'd like to see it done. Yet, when it comes to actually running a plot, I suddenly feel completely out of my element.
That said, I thought I would bring forth the subject matter to all you other MU*Soapbox'ers. What advice would you give people wanting to try their hand at Storytelling/plot-running? Whether it be coming up with plot ideas, advice for how to handle different players in your player-run plots, etc. Let's see what we can all come up with, shall we?

RE: Tanika @Age of Alliances
She isn't remembering you offhand, but then it's been a while. I was there myself for a very short time before leaving -- mostly because I was lured there under false pretenses and then got told that I was basically consigned to being a stormtrooper at best. I exited stage left at that point.

RE: Good films
@Miss-Demeanor Just checked. Problem with that $10 offer is that they're temporarily out of stock. I can, however, get it for about $20 and get two-day shipping, which will be perfect: I was already planning to watch Rose Red Halloween night, so doubling up with it and The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer will be even more fun.
Edit: Still wish Rose Red had been written as a novel.
-
RE: Good films
@Miss-Demeanor I remember the book being mentioned in something ABC put together to hype up the release of Rose Red, but I didn't know they did another mini-series based upon it. I'm glad I have Rose Red on DVD (especially since Amazon's currently charging $73 for a DVD copy), so I'll have to check out The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer.

RE: Good films
@Sundown Brick is an excellent film -- first indie film I ever purchased. Loved it from the moment I saw the first trailer for it.
@ThatOneDude Such a travesty, amirite? Jack Burton cannot possibly be amused.
For my part... I cannot pass without bringing up The Usual Suspects.
I really want to watch Crimson Peak as well when it comes out -- del Toro is an interesting director, and Hiddleston looks pretty good in it. Interesting, given that I don't usually go for such movies, but I'm beginning to expand that way, with movies like Shutter Island and Stonehenge Asylum, or the ABC mini-series of Stephen King's Rose Red.
I'd try to come up with my own list, but most of mine are more well-known movies; nothing so artsy, if you will. As it is, too many for me to try and list.

RE: Tanika @Age of Alliances
I think I know who you're looking for. How would she know you, Jenn, and I'll pass it on to her.

RE: Loki@HM (or someone knowledgeable)
Agreed. Thanks much, Sundown. You just made my day.
