That cat looks like he would object if the argument weren't too stupid to merit a response.

Highly technical people use SSH daily. Your average consumer/gamer simply doesn't use anything like that on a regular basis.
False.
Many of the people in this hobby use SSH because companies block web interfaces that are labelled as a game, but Telnet / SSH is so old that nobody even bothers trying to shut it down anymore. I can download and run Putty or Potato or whatever on whatever computer I am on, connect to whatever game I want to, and I don't have to worry about whether the netfilter is going to block my web app because someone used the word 'Game' too many times.
Just because it isn't flashy and happens to be old doesn't mean that it isn't necessary for a good many of us. Ignoring it because it isn't trendy is a bad move.

There's no modern client on PCs that handles spawns nicely, to my knowledge (and good lord if there is one, please point me to it).
I guess this depends on what you mean by 'nicely'. Potato handles spawns just fine.

Tech N Stuff
Hey! So do you all remember the good old days of flip phones? Looks like we are moving backward in our next move forward.
ETA: My initial thoughts on this -- why in the world would you flip the top screen away to reveal a bigger inner screen? Shouldn't you just use that first screen with a second?
Also: It is hard enough for me to keep just the one screen clean. FFS.

I prefer physical keyboards
FWIW, I my favorite smartphone was one that Optimus Zip where the cover slid over to reveal a physical keyboard on. So many less typos.

I'd say that it's less that we absolutely will not, more that we absolutely don't see the need. Speaking for myself, at the very least.
I think that a large part of this is that there are limited options available, and they all frankly do just about the same thing. There really isn't a need for a client that does something radically different right now, but those times are approaching.
The splittable windows thing that someone put up a screenshot for on Evennia, for instance. Imagine how nice it would be to not have to worry about Spawn code and just toss all of that off into a COMM window on the same screen, just over to the side. None of the current MU clients do that.***
***I think I once saw a game that had taken MUSHClient and retooled it in all kinds of crazy ways to serve their own purposes but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was, so it doesn't count.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
Ideally, one that I know how to play! The rules conversion at Athas.org is pretty nice. But realistically I will take any of them. I just love the world.

Since this seems to have been resurrected, let me just slide my Dark Sun suggestion card onto the table again.

RE: DnD Group
Some people are having a conversation about potential IP issues and legality.
Cue the lawbots. @Ganymede , @saosmash , I choose you!

RE: I owe a lot of people some apologies.
This thread seems to have taken a hard turn at some point.

And it suffers a lot of SSDG (same stuff, different galaxy).
I'm with @Ganymede . I think ME:A got a lot of seriously unfair pressure put on it, but it was a very playable game nonetheless.
And I'm also super curious to follow up on some of the little mysteries they put in and never explained, but drew me into the story, because I play the hell out of everything and explore as much as I can.
It might have some SS'DG but there is plenty of new to follow up on as well.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I felt like that the entire time I played it. What's that thing? Shit it looks mean. Better to find something smaller.

I have skullcandy, these specifically:
https://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Bluetooth-Headphones-Microphone-Rechargeable/dp/B00NCSIN4W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540657737&sr=8-1&keywords=hesh+2+wireless&dpID=419Ej-cXv1L&preST=SY300_QL70&dpSrc=srch
They are awesome and comfortable and the best money I have ever spent on headphones short of my Epic Airs.
Also, since I forgot to mention this: the battery life on this is ridiculously long. I have literally been Netflix binging on and off for two days now and haven't had to charge them, at a decent volume. I watched all of Elite (season 1), the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (entire season 1), and got halfway through Helix Season 1 before I recharged them, and it probably still had a bit to go tbh. I just did it pre-emptively.
I love these things and am never getting rid of them. These are my laptop-headphones, and I use my Epic Air earbuds for the phone. Only two things I've ever needed and I plan on using them forever.
