@ixokai That's true, but the complaint also was that they said more options and didn't really follow through. They did though, with seven for male, and seven options for female. It's what, two same sex, two hetero options, and two bisexual, and one mono gendered option. (Asari look female, but that isn't how they reproduce. I get it it sucks if you don't like the look but if you are a female and have no interest in hot, alien girl on girl action, you only have 1 romance option.)

Seven options for a video game that has actual sex scenes. Even from a company that let you bone sexy aliens before. So I guess I was responding more to the wish they had carried through comment than the two comment.

I don't know that you're seeing the point.

For a gay male Ryder, there are two choices. Not seven. (And not one can be a regular mission companion)

For a gay female Ryder, there are four. (And two can be a regular mission companion)

Granted, I'm counting the asari as female here. I know by theme they are mono-gendered but I stand by that.

The 'bisexuals' are all female-ish, except Reyes (the second gay male option).

No, really, I am unhappy with this aspect of things. I don't especially like either Gil or Reyes, but feel I have to pick between one. Sooo.... uh.... whatever. I don't care. Yes, a Fem-Ryder has seven choices. But my Gay-Ryder has two. That's the point.

I'd have been happy if only the obvious choice would be able to be romanced, especially since the jerk took to being shirtless for a few days after I hit on him and he turned me down. Hmph.

If you think that's off, there is a side task you can do where your two male companions strip completely down on front of you. Neither of which are romance options for dude Ryder.

It's like a giant fuck you.

I was really hoping to get the action prompt and I wasn't disappointed.

I was gonna. I missed the prompt. If you let her live, though, she comes into the story later.

      Things I'm Less Impressed With:

      • We were promised that there would be more romance options available. If you're playing male Ryder and want to romance a male character, your options are limited to 2, neither of which are any of your primary companions, unlike female Ryder's veritable plethora of options, and the obvious one is out. Which is super lame. Bioware could have delivered on this promise so, so much better.

Wait, there's 2? I only see Gil as an option.

I found it... weird, that like, one day I hit on 'the obvious one' and he says he's not into guys and then like the next day he's hanging around shirtless around me and I'm like: ???

Right? Thank you, Obvious Choice, for being so considerate.

There is another. You meet him later. Both are human.

      What I like:

      • You can spend literal days exploring one planet and still not find all of its secrets.
      • The story, though if feels a bit familiar in places (cough), seems really interesting in that 'holy crap' tension-building sort of way.
      • The fact that you can switch profiles to be better suited to specific encounters is win, though I've mostly stuck with vanguard.

      • The animations are a little rough in some places. Characters walk through me frequently, and clip into a pose. It's distracting. Patch that shit.
      • The voice acting isn't bad, but it isn't -great- or anything. Especially since it sometimes even gives some between-the-lines lag in places it's not waiting for a response from you.

Also, if you don't mind homosexual romance plotlines, The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal is a really good read.

Fucking metatarsophalangeal joint sprain and/or tendon tear.

Like, how the fuck did this happen? My last workout was on Monday. Yesterday, my left big toe hurt a lot, so I thought I got a sprain inadvertently. This morning, I wake up, and the fucking thing feels like it had exploded. Like my toe was bleeding, when it wasn't.

Like, what the fuck? I know that "getting older" means "getting injured when you didn't before," but I didn't realize it meant "waking up in the morning sometimes comes with a fucking stupidly painful injury."

      Like, seriously, what the fuck.

      Damn gout!

@Insomnia said in General Video Game Thread:

@Derp Yep, you will. You need something to pair it with. It's got to connect to something and send the signal back and forth.
At least both Xbox 1 and PS4 controllers need one for the wireless bit to work - I mean the cord alone should work - which is probably why it didn't mention a dongle. That's only if you want to go wireless.

I just plug mine in though, honestly; unless you get a rechargeable pack, and a couple of battery packs so you can switch out while one is recharging you're going to spend a lot on batteries.

Huh. For some reason I had it in my head that it would just pair with the bluetooth. Oh well. I'll need to invest in a longer cord, but you're right, it's probably the better option in the long run.

Do I need one? None of the current instructions mention one. I have a Lenovo Y70, so I'm not sure? Did you require one?

@Derp You absolutely can,if you have one! It's how I play.

So, I bought one. It's much, much better with the controller. Now if I could figure out how to get the wireless functionality to work, we'd be golden, lol. Seems it only likes it with USB.

Honestly, I haven't tried yet. Steam always tells me that things have limited controller support, so I try and use the keyboard as much as possible. I could give it a shot.

Yeah, you unlock it after beating the game.

The first boss fight? The bit in the attic? If you miss more than 7 headshots, you die. And they hit like a truck. And I've been hit by a truck IRL when I was a child, so I know what I'm talking about!

Yeah, that one was a bitch. The next one though, where you get to hit him with a car? Priceless.

Edit to add; I'm playing it on PC, and I'm kind of wishing I had bought it for PS4. The default key layout is annoying as hell, and even after switching it to something more sensible (space for run instead of block, cuz middle mouse button is also block), I ended up dying so many damn times just due to different actions being mapped in annoying ways.

@Insomnia said in General Video Game Thread:

@Derp My complaints about the game are: You never really know when something is combat you can just avoid and if you fail it doesn't matter, and which ones will kill you.

The other is that MY HEALTH IS GREEN, why is there still blood on my face? Sure it's not bright green, but I'm used to being hurt being a visual representation on the character, so the blood on the screen while green is just Grrr.

Oh and DLC doesn't come out same time as on PS4. Booo!

Yeah, the blood on the screen really fucked with me during the second fight with <person>, where you first get the gun. It really got in the way of my views.

That being said, all combat should be avoided if possible. Everything will kill you.

The visuals? Definitely. The combat system? Needs work.

Later in the game, you'll really have to buckle down on your strategy. Even at Max level, you'll get your ass kicked quickly if you don't start exploiting enemy weaknesses and such. Yeah, it could probably use a bit of streamlining, but learn it like your life depends on it. Because it does.

That's one of the things I like about RE7 so far. You can't just stand there and get wailed on. You -can't-. An axe to the chest will fucking kill you dead. You have to block and dodge and move around and use the environment to your advantage.

The story is terrible, but I expected no less from a JRPG. I just wish that Square ENIX would put out something for Western consumption that doesn't feel like a subordinate dumpster fire.

I didn't mind it so much. 😛 I mean, yes, by some standards they could have done better, like with the invasion that they pretty much just glossed right over so that you could move along to other things, but overall it wasn't awful.
