So, I just picked up Resident Evil 7.

I put it on my list. It's just under ME:A.

Still wading through FF 15. I'm only at Chapter 8, but I've spent almost 40 hours on it getting to level 49.

FF15 is good too. I enjoyed it immensely. Some of the story felt a little contrived at parts, but I don't even care. The visuals and combat system were totally worth it.

Holy shit do I love this game. I mean, granted, I was already a fan of the series before, but this one has me literally afraid to walk through doors now. Doors which, by the way, don't end up at a load screen, can be partially opened, bashed through, aimed through, etc.

Minor bitches: I don't like that I can't bind my other mouse keys to different actions. It fucks with me. Healing and running are a PITA with the regular keyboard, so I've had to find creative ways to reconfigure them to make it more streamlined.

But combat is -hard-, and I would recommend avoiding it at all costs. You know, much like the first RE games.

Ambien works on me, for sure but I'm also of the number that does things that I shouldn't do and can't remember: eating, cooking, fucking, buying $200 worth of the same goddamn digital album on Amazon.

My s/o is like this too. He got so bad that he walked to his dad's, took his dad's truck, wrecked his dad's truck, and didn'the remember any of it. Ambien is kind of the devil for some people. He hasn'the found a good alternative, either, so if one works for you, let me know! I'd kind of like him to be able to sleep again.

So, I've decided to invest in a new treadmill and weight bench, because the area where I live isn't exactly... safe to go running in. Not because of the neighborhood, but because of the utter lack of one. It's icy, it's backroads, and my nearest neighbors are miles away. That's before we get into the potentially threatening wildlife.

I knew that starting back out doing that stuff was going to suck. What I didn't anticipate?

The waits for them to arrive suck even more. I have motivation -now-. I wanna do things -now-. But unless I wanna drive foreeeeever, I have to wait for them to be delivered to a local store (and by 'local', I mean 20 miles away from me, mind).

Hopefully I can keep up the excitement.

Edit because, you know, verbs are helpful.

I still can't post on this phone for shit but bear with me.

      1. Am, actually, still alive.
1a. Almost died the night before NYE.
1b. Planned to see doc. Doc says my under five ft tall rainbow haired ass looks as though I am attempting to audition for high empress oh the oompa loompas with the color I have become and if it does not improve w/the meds by friday or (list of things) or looks even a tiny bit worse, go to the ER.
1c. ER: You are going to the fucking hospital and you should prepare for surgery at dawn if we don't have you one the table tonight.

Please note that as in the reality of events vs. their television counterparts or would be television counterparts, the prevalence of "fuck", and actual references to oompa-loompas is probably greatly exaggerrated.

      1. Have no idea how long I will have to be here still, as 'has not died' is not 'is not at a disturbingly high risk of dying if a hair of something goes wrong with first surgery' are not the same thing.

      2. Still do not want to hear wiki help reqs or invites to places or get questions about general game shit, because being in a life or death disaster? Zero patience right now for the kind of thing people dress up as such being flung my way. (See? I to take my mental health seriously, too.) That particular shit will hit a fan -- forcibly spattering the flinger.

      3. Otherwise, all the ❤ Be good to each other, people.

Feel better! We need your particular brand of snark for many moons to come!

I gotta give props to my cat.

Normally, she won't sleep anywhere but by/on my legs. However, when I was verra sick and just sleeping it off Wed/Thurs, she spent a lot of time curled up right next to my neck/shoulders.

Cats really can tell when you just need that extra bit of love.

Well, how else is she supposed to know if you stop breathing? Human just isn't as tasty if you let it get cold.

There is a slim chance that it could be done, so long as all the faiths have at least a decent foothold and some real power. Thinks 'Christians v. Pagans' via 'The Mists of Avalon'.

There would still be a lot of dickwaving, of course, but if neither side has the option of just completely eliminating the other, it could be done.

@Misadventure I tried replacing soda with tea at first but it only lead to stronger soda cravings. So I swapped entirely to water, milk, and fruit juices. I'm only now dipping back into tea that I brew myself. I'm avoiding things like the premade Nestea or Lipton Iced Tea varieties, one of my gamer's brings this stuff to tabletop each Friday in a small case to share - and it may as well be soda.

I drink lipton's dragonfruit açai melon green tea if I want hit tea. But their raspberry white tea in the little bottles is amazing, too, and not terrible calories-wise, if I want colder things.

I still drink coke zero, but I like the fizz. It helps to settle my stomach.

@Derp It is polite in general (say, if you're referring to a stranger) as it's a way of showing respect. So kids are always supposed to refer to their elders that way.

This is really the same in Spanish, too.

      I said that already. 😛

Edit to add: I also recently learned that 'tutear' is a word. I would have never guessed there was a verb for that.

And another, to get us back on topic: Has anyone here had any luck trying to balance out a 50/30/20 protein/carb/fat split? Because I'm failing at this.

You defer to your elders by using the 'plural' form of "you". So all it takes is a cashier saying "thank you" like that and - blamo! You're done for.

I thought that Greek also did that as a polite form? Kind of like the Spanish tu/usted? Or am I misremembering? It's been a minute since Greek.

Perhaps off topic but I wish cellphone service providers in Canada made unlimited plans available - then I could just grab Spotify Premium. As it stands it's a no-go.

I have 10 gigs of data a month and barely use any of it on Spotify, even listening constantly. (No, really, ask @somasatori. I needs mah music.) But with Premium you can also make your playlists available offline, so no data usage.

Has to be better than what Spotify has on its own. I'm beginning to think that Rumbai is the Official Band of Argentina, which really bugs me because OMFGJFC they have so many rythym issues.

No Cafe Tecvba or Mana for Spanish rock? Whaaa?

Also kudos on Romeo Santos! I'm in love with Bachata. But that's what I get for marrying a Puerto Rican. Aventura is a sure bet too.

I'm in love with Childish Gambino right now.

Pfft, Cafe Tacuba and Mana? Really?

Let's put a little more color into it, man!

      Aterciopelados (Colombian)
Patricio Rey & sus Redonditos de Ricota (Argentine)
      Calle 13 (Puerto Rican)
Los Abuelos de la Nada (Argentine)
      Puya (Puerto Rican)
      La Vela Puerca (Uruguayan)
Mano Negra (French, actually, but multicultural; Manu Chao's old band)
      Molotov (Mexican)
      Reincidentes (Spaniards)
      Kortatu (Basque)
      Ska-P (Basque/Cataloanian)

My list goes on and on and on and on and on. All of these are all very different from each other, too, so if you're interested in finding something new, don't just give up because you don't like one of them.

I ended up omitting a lot of Argentine bands in favor of diversity. If you want just Argentine bands, hit me up.

Do you use spotify? I've just been listening to their top-by-countries lists. If you use Spotify, though, I could just stalk your playlists maybe? looks hopeful

So my current challenge is changing my diet.

I'm somewhere in the 'mesomorph' range as far as body shape goes, but I have a lot of the endomorph issues. My weight fluctuates a lot, even when not really changing diet or exercise, etc.

So after talking to a dietician, I have been informed that I'm eating all wrong. Calories spot on, and macros spot on... for someone else.

So, now I'm supposed to eat way more protein, way less carbs, and a bit more fat. But frankly, I've yet to find that balance. I'm not used to eating protein. And my goal is... high. So it usually ends up coming along with more fat, which puts me a bit over my goal there, and a bit under my carb goal, even while just not hitting my protein goal by about 15%.

So I'm trying to meal plan, but like, short of just becoming a carnivore that snorts lines of muscle milk powder, it's freakin' hard.

You know, it is actually possible that "create the game that you want" is precisely what @surreality is doing…

All I was saying is that it seemed like a question was being asked, and then when people gave some responses, it came off like "I already have my answer for sensitive subjects".

Of course they can create the game they want. I was simply confused on why ask an opinion if you already know what you're going to do.

Personally, I think that the things listed as 'what I'm actually wanting answers for' are... honestly, minutiae. There's no one good way to handle it. Someone's feathers are always going to get ruffled on those. And it sounds like you'd prefer to just use a prefs system to handle them anyway, so...

I guess you've got what you need here?

There are 6 consent-required subjects that have nothing whatsoever to do with this topic (and only came up because someone wanted to equate it to rape, which is handled differently, as stated before) and about 30 or so various preferences people can set.

But I think that's where the disconnect is coming from. 'Consent required' usually is reserved for 'sensitive materials', which is (as the name suggests) exactly the point of this topic. And if the policy is 'consent required', then ... why are we talking about how to handle them at all?

And while there have been good points on both sides of this so far, I think that one thing that's come up repeatedly, and one that strongly resonates with me so far, is ' if consent for a thing is required, you are inevitably going to run into a story derailment, because nothing on a MU exists in a total vacuum'.

That's really my concern here. But, apparently I misunderstood what the point of the topic was, if you've already worked out how you're going to handle the sensitive subjects.
