The right to BARE arms made me laugh.
Not AT anyone. It just makes me laugh no matter how often I see the typo. My imagination draws up the imagery.

A game based on Feng Shui - the rpg. It's based on hong kong action movies (think, classic John Woo) and it has such potential to be an amazing MU. Lots of action, simple mechanics.
@tempest Gawyn.
And yes. He was not badass. He got training. He became badass.
@seraphim73 @Arkandel
I'll add to this: Limiting Channellers is a bad idea. Limiting Black Ajah is a necessity. On Cuendillar, it seemed like every 2nd Aes Sedai was a frigging black ajah. It was stupid.
Actually, I'll extend it: Limit darkfriends of all stripes. Have some active and sneaky ones, and that's way more effective than operating with the general understanding you're likely to hit one if you threw a rock in a room full of people.
@arkandel Yep. I agree entirely.
I should have said, "IF you wanted to have a Mat or Tuon around, that's a challenge." I see how the way I worded it "might be" could have led someone to conclude I thought they should be around. I do not.
Rumour was that Jordan always intended an outrigger novel to follow the main WoT books, but which would follow Mat and Tuon in Seandar.
That's a setting I could get behind. Lots of intrigue, monsters, political upheaval (do the daes dae'mar gain freedom? What about captured Aes Sedai who had been taken back already?). It's different and far enough away from Randland that you're left with lots of opportunities to create some cool stories.
The only challenge is that you might need a Mat or Tuon from time to time, since the Empress does play a big role in Seanchan society. But, you could get around that with emits and so forth, and then have people have to deal with her Voice or whatever.
@jaded
Disc looks fine. Not warped.
Compy's a "local computer shop" special, so it doesn't conform to one manufacturer.
The drive is a "super rite master" so I guess we'll have to extrapolate from that.
I thought I'd clone the disc on Lappy, and try the clone in Compy.
@insomnia Compy is windows 7. Lappy is windows 10
I'm putting this here because the rest of the Internet has been useless. So... congrats, msb, you're my only hope. May God have mercy on us all...
Compy (my gaming desktop) used to have patrician 4 on it. I uninstalled it for unimportant reasons. I went to install it again, and suddenly Compy no longer believes there is a dvd drive. Put in another disc and the drive returns!
Lappy (non-gaming laptop) sees the Patrician disc just fine, thankyouverymuch, but doesn't have the chops to run the game. That tells me the disc works just fine.
What the hell is going on with Compy? Any ideas?
Shortest? Teodor to Elsabet, on Firan. I think it was... what? - 3 RL months? Then she died.
I don't know if I've had one that I've regretted for any reason other than the person wound up sitting on the roster forever shortly afterwards. That seems to happen more often than I'd like... kinda starting to take it personal.
Feng Shui. It would be an awesome conversion to MU* from tabletop and lends itself really well for one-shot actions that fit into a larger plot.
@arkandel said in What's your identity worth to you?:
- Your real world identity - meaning anything past your first name, including your general geographical location (city, State, etc). Please remember if you e-mail or share documents using your e-mail accounts those often include that name!
Most people don't know my name. I have a Gmail address I use for stuff like this, and use the hangouts feature for chat with other players.
I have no problem with people knowing I'm from Winnipeg.
- This is a subset of the above but I wanted to isolate it... what about your gender, family status, religion, etc? That is, stuff about your social status.
I don't disguise my gender, nor my marital status, nor that I have kids. I might have told people the general field in which I work.
- Your 'physical' digintal footprint; for example sharing pictures of yourself, but also even being on a voicechat with others; do you only do it with trusted few or go on general channels?
I don't do voicechat because I don't have the hardware and don't care to get it.
Ain't nobody wanting pictures of my gargoylesque appearance either. So, I don't share it.
- Your e-mail address or other online traces of your identity outside of gaming.
My throwaway email generally. Maybe 3 people in my entire mu* history have had my real one.
- Your identity on games - are you at all concerned about people figuring out your alts, or who you play on other games, including non-MU*? What about the room you are in, or who you are RPing with?
Not really. I did a playlist, after all.
Updated to note the end of Nierzen's story. An ending, by the way, which was awesome, with thanks to @Apos and whatever other staff were involved.
@arkandel Taxation is theft in general. The only thing that changes is how deeply into your pockets they'll make you go.
I live just north of Minnesota. The vast majority of people I know are Vikings fans, simply by geography.
Not me. I back the Pack.
So, I'll say: That loss by the Vikings would only have been sweeter to me if it had happened at the Superbowl, to Tom Brady, in their own home.
Also, I'm cheering for the Patriots. I would have been okay cheering for the Jaguars - they were my dark horse choice from the outset of the season - but for some reason, I've always liked the Patriots. I think it's Bellichek's inability to give a single crap what anyone thinks, about anything, for any reason. Not league sponsors (see: Microsoft), not the Commissioner, not the media (see: "We're on to Cincinnati"), not people with eyes (see: His abhominable cut-off sweatshirts), not top-round draft picks. He literally couldn't care less about any of that. There's a certain curmudgeonly charm to it.
I feel like I'm being really literal with the title of this topic...
I'm annoyed when people tag me in stuff on Facebook, but if it's just some stupid video clip or gif that doesn't include members of my family, I rather want to start punching. I also hate when people add me to groups...
The rare times when someone tags me in something useful are few and far between, but have been so good I'm loath to turn off that permission. So, I just untag myself, even if I'm the only one tagged and it's going to be super obvious.
Thank you, random internet people, for letting me vent.
@darinelle said in Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning:
@Lithium - The social system we're trying to implement is in part because there are so many social characters who get ignored when doing diplomatic or social things. And it's to take away some of the doubt - so that there are some hard guidelines that indicate social power, the way there are hard guidelines that indicate combat power.
I'm a big fan of having some way to use the social skills. I tend to play those sorts of characters (whether by chance or subconsciously choosing them), and it can be a challenge to feel as though these stats have any meaning.
@Arkandel had an interesting topic about social stats some time ago, so I'm glad to see that Arx is trying to make them have some sort of usefulness. Even if I don't like fashion stuff, I like overall depth in a game, and that adds another layer.
@fortydeuce Haha! Thanks, man. It's been good to see people not hating the experience of RPing with Nierzen.
@arkandel I'm on board with people spending money. I just never enjoyed or appreciated the fashion aspect of Firan.
I think it would be neat if crafters gained prestige based on who and how many people bought their things. But I can see that getting broken pretty quickly. It'd add either a barrier to entry for new crafters, or a cool rp hook as they try to build a reputation from the ground up
