Has anyone played Divinity: Original Sin 2 yet? I'm curious if it's as good as the reviews have it before I shell out $55 on it.

I watched a multiplayer, storytelling video sometime ago that prompted me to want to pick it up. Specifically so that I could get friends together for said storytelling pursuits. Obviously it wasn't enough to really decide whether it was worthwhile or not, but it definitely caused the game to catch my interest.

Then again, I'm still trying to slog my way through Tyranny. So I shouldn't buy new games. Oh, hello Total War: Warhammer II.

@Sunny thank you for paying attention. Seriously.

      @Arkandel too.

@otherdarlingreaders Both of those are simple things that I've had folks mention to me the past few days, wondering why people would do it and this and that. It's just a very "isn't this obvious?" situation and it baffles me that people don't recognize it. A troll doesn't care about what they say. 'Oh no, he mentioned the sacred rape!', you're just going to feed it when you bristle over it. Yes, it's shitty behavior. Yes, it's a sensitive topic. That's the point.

But all of these efforts of You Should Tell An Asshole They're An Asshole, only works against people who aren't setting out with that goal in mind. Which these people are. So all you're doing is wasting your collective breath and giving them what they want. More than likely they don't believe a good 85% of what they spew. Even if they do? You're out of your damn mind(s) if you think that someone on the internet is going to change their opinion.

Stop feeding the goddamn trolls. Hit that little ignore button. When you see a new user come on the forum, espousing controversial topics, and they've been a new member for a couple weeks? If you can't pick up on even basic contextual clues and think that MSB brings in new users that regularly? Come on, son. Just fucking ignore them. Put on your goddamn thinking caps.

P.S. I understand it's hard to ignore the behavior when it's either directed at yourself or a topic that is of some minor or major importance to yourself. I can't even fault you for getting worked up over it. Take it as friendly advice - take a step away, take a breath, come back, ignore poster. Done. The more you comment, the more you entertain him, her, or them.

Took the time to create an item; naming, describing, coloring(oh man, I spent some time getting the colors just right) for the item. It was intended as a birthday gift for another PC.

The thing that I love is just how genuinely appreciative not only the character, but also the player, seemed to feel about it and the time I invested in it. All in all it only took me maybe an hour to get it to my liking, but their reaction felt like I'd spent considerably more time on it or given them a real world gift or something. It was really great of them and it's reactions like that which cause me to keep making things for other characters.

In other Good TV news. I was listening to the Mr. Robot soundtrack for season 1.

It recommended for me, probably because I listened to it in the past, the soundtrack for The Following.

There's a Good TV show that I miss: The Following.

@Arkandel I do miss that as well. But within the story of the GoT television series, I think we're still seeing some of that. Or at least had some glimpses of it this season . It's just taken on a new face. It's less subtle and more blatant. As the various wars blazer hotter, the subtleties are likely to fall to the wayside.

Except Cersei. Cersei dgaf. And that's why she makes me happy.

I nearly forgot about this morning, since I was still half asleep! The Game of Thrones talk in another thread stirred it from my memory!

My wife is pro-Stark. She wanted to take bereavement days following the Red Wedding.
I am pro-Lannister. That's all I need to say, since it's the best choice.

This morning was the first time my son hummed 'The Rains of Castamere' along with me. It was perfect as my wife walked into the kitchen at that moment and the boy took her exasperation for enthusiasm, so he just hummed louder.

Blueberry waffles never tasted so good. Checkmate.

@Meg I may have, no idea. It was just a thought while I was changing a diaper. Which had me start thinking about other things pop culture insisted would be an issue. But good lookin' out!

I love that quicksand isn't as prevalent a threat to my daily existence as pop culture tried to make me believe, while I was growing up. Pretty thankful for that.

Edit to include: I'm also thankful that having your young child piss on you while changing them is either easily avoided with good reflexes or simply not as common as pop culture in the '80s and '90s would have lead one to believe.

My spouse enjoys scrapbooking and planning? Plannering? She likes keeping an organized planner. I mean, this thing is laden not only with the day's schedules weeks(or more) in advance, but there are stickers here and there that are relevant to what's written, notes, this and that. Everything under the sun. Harry Potter stickers, kid with a doctor stickers, grapefruit stickers, this sticker, that sticker, a sticker for every occasion!

A few short months ago she came to me and told me that she had something she was really excited about, something she was interested in doing. Cool!

      Faceless: "Well, what is it?"
      Mrs. Faceless: "You can't laugh..."

That's pretty much the way to make certain that I'm going to laugh.

      F: "Okay."
M: "So I put in an application to do PR for an online retail shop and I'd advertise for them and stuff through Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media."
F: "Okay. And how much do they intend to compensate you for your time?"
      M: "Well..."
      F: "Well?"
M: "They would pay me in stickers."

Aaaaand there's where I lost it. I haven't laughed that hard, that long, or with that much vigor in years. Nor have I since. I couldn't breathe. At one point I sincerely thought I was going to lose consciousness. My laughter wasn't because of her choices or her interests. It was because my wife, in pursuit of something she enjoys, was willing to essentially be compensated with peanuts. To each their own. In her defense, one month she spent something like $75 on stickers. Stickers.

Flash forward to this evening. My wife comes to me at my desk while I'm trying to RP. I pause my music, I take off my headphones, I provide her with my undivided attention.

M: "So I want to show you something, but you can't laugh."
F: "...oh god, not this again...I can't do this again", as I'm beginning to crack up even thinking about the last time.
M: "No, really. It's something that I ordered for myself, for my birthday."
F: "Your birthday was quite a few months ago."
      M: "I was on a waiting list."
F: "Okay. You can not get mad at me if I laugh."
      M: "Okay!"

She shows me her phone. It's a picture of her. No, an artwork of her. She had commissioned someone to take a picture that she had, of herself, and turn it into an artwork. I just stared at it for a moment, studying it, noting how much it looked like her. How great it looked. How I wanted two more just like it.

M: "You aren't laughing... do you like it?"
F: "Why would I laugh? It's beautiful! I want a copy, for my desk, in a frame."
      M: "Really?"
      F: "Yes!"

She couldn't believe I loved it. She thought I'd think it was silly.
I couldn't believe she'd even question it. She's the strongest, smartest, most wonderful person that I know.
She gave me my son. I know I talk about my family a lot, with folks in private or even casual mentions here. It's because I'm proud of what I have.

@Arkandel said in Hiring a Storyteller:

Money is a poor motivator for coders, not because programmers don't appreciate it, but because generally speaking if that's what they're after they can get paid way better for the amount of time they'd need to spend on a MUSH than that.

If you want a programmer they need to be enticed the old-fashioned way; befriend one, make them excited in your vision, get them involved in making something they agree would be really cool to be part of.

My experience with @Thenomain corroborates this statement.

Rumor has it Coin befriended his mom first.

When you find a person or group who you can build with. When the creative energies are flowing and everyone's throwing out ideas, building together, and there's a general sense of excitement about a new project. It's a feeling that I think serves to motivate others to get more involved, really embrace a theme, and something to call their own.

It's one of the things I enjoy about MUing. Collaboration, especially when it's for no greater purpose than to make a world more immersive. Not for any one person's benefit, but a group or even a game as a whole.

Had a fairly stressful day today. Nothing major, just the death by a thousand paper cuts sort of rough day.

@Coin unexpectedly sent me this on Skype earlier today.

I have no clue what's being sung, but it's given me a few little smiles today as I keep playing it periodically.

I think this means we're practically engaged. He didn't know I was having a rough day, he just sensed it. Plus it's League of Legends, which he knows I enjoy playing from time to time. I'd say things are getting pretty serious.
