RE: Usekh aka Branwen@Darkspires
I'm very sorry to hear this. I spent a good few weeks playing Minecraft with him. Great personality, wonderful sense of humor. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Like always, the truth probably lies somewhere in between. @Warma-Sheen may be overly critical and the complaint is silly, but now might be a good time for @Mercutio to take a hard look at power balances in spheres and transparency with staff, too. Maybe there's nothing to look at! But hey, never hurts to do it.
A fair and reasoned approach. Constructive even.

RE: Star Wars: Dawn of Defiance
@Warma-Sheen I think you're being a bit more critical than is necessary. Honestly it comes off as though you feel wronged by the current staffers, for the actions of past staffers. Someone was deeply involved with the game because they were active and had an active group? I think that's generally going to be how the average game operates in terms of giving those active people/groups things to do. The more active someone is, the more staff attention they'll get. Sure, that's not always the case. Sometimes you'll get your staffers who will preach and preach not having favorites, all the while getting their TS on via their NPCs with their chosen few. Something MSB, and it's predecessor forums has always taken a dim view of.
Remember Dominion/Seraph, I think were his name(s)? That dude had everything handed to him while largely being distant from his own faction. All the while having pals make new characters with Noble levels and the Wealth talent to filter credits to him. That's his thing. That's his routine. Staff was pointedly told by people who have staffed on games that he had been on in the past: this is this dude's M.O., he will push the spirit of the rule and the sense of fair play to the point of breaking and will strive to be the top dawg through shady means. And he did. Staff never did a thing. So let's not go just flippantly pointing the finger at the current staff for the faults of past staff.
I stopped into DoD recently to sniff about in consideration of getting back into some Star Wars play. Ultimately? Decided I wasn't really feeling it, but during that little probe I got the sense that staff's working to keep an active community and get people involved. All of my questions were fielded with no hint of exasperation or annoyance. Staff were friendly, polite, and courteous. They even went as far as to field my questions about activity levels across the various orgs, which groups could use people, and all the rest. That's better than many games out there. So while staff, as their respective PCs, may have done this or that in the past? It looks like they've got the interests of the game ahead of their own character's goals.
Kitty could've been resurrected and made Headstaff. That could have been a thing. Let's keep some perspective.

No. Kitty has departed, as has Ysalamir, Soresu, and Ataru - the latter handing me the mantle of Headwiz. Vaapad was left behind as per the change from GoD to DoD. Ashen still hangs out from time to time.I may just have to give this place a whirl again. Thanks for the answer!

RE: Things We Should Have Learned Sooner
Cache. It's not kash-ay or kash-ee. It's just kash. That one bugs me and I should probably say this in random bitching or something, but whatever.
All the toys, action figures, and other stuff that is considered memorabilia in the long-term? I should have kept in nice and secure in packaging. At minimum, buy two for your kid(s). A friend of mine supported himself, without a job for about 15 months, selling nothing more than comic books, action figures and the little bit he had in savings. His mortgage, car payment, and all the rest were kept current while he was jobless and it was all because of his collections.

RE: MU Things I Love
@Goldfish been there, done that. On a semi-regular basis. More often than not it's the birds tweeting and whistling that alerts me to the fact that it's 6:15am and false dawn's on the horizon. Then I realize I haven't had anything to drink in hours, because I was too distracted by the scene(s).

RE: Aria's Playlist
No, no, @Aria. I am Rymarr. Finding stable players for Mia and Thesarin has been a goal for quite awhile now. So I'm very happy that you've taken up Mia.

RE: Aria's Playlist
After noting yourself and @Coin chit-chatting in this threat. Fun fact, I actually tried to get @Coin to come play Thesarin at one point. He refused because he's "not playing anywhere at the moment".
I'm glad that Mia finally has an active player though. I bet you'll do great things with her!

I loved huttball in SWToR. Some of the best PvP I'd had in ages. Once you had people who knew how to pass the ball and use the game grid... was so much fun.
Huttball was and is so much fun to play. I'll periodically jump on SWToR just to play that specifically with my Juggernaut or Vanguard. A Huttball match between two well-versed teams is a tense and exciting game that, win or lose, leaves you feeling satisfied.
Giggity.
But, if you get stuck with someone who does know how to pass or how to spread out and use the full dimensions of the playing field? It's frustrating and makes me want to drown someone in a pool of acid in the center of the field.

So yeah, I think it's super safe to say I'm p cool. by my music tastes. Right?? (Nothing as cool as a 30 year old white woman singing like she's a gangsta 'Where the hood at?'.)

RE: MU Things I Love
The MU Things I Love thread probably shouldn't be on the second page of the list of threads. I'm going to make an effort to post in this thread more often, because despite all the gripes we have, we do keep coming back for more. So there has to be things that we love about our hobby. Or we have Stockholm Syndrome. Either way!
I don't dream often. Hell, I don't really sleep often. Two, three hours maybe, that's the norm. So when I do sleep a bit more than usual and I do dream? It's always amusing when those dreams happen to be about a game that I'm playing on. In this particular case it was a group of players, sitting around chit-chatting, and just discussing everything from plot predictions to who other players are.
It's that way that I discovered that apparently a PC's player on Arx is actually Ellen DeGeneres.

First order of business: we build a wall. @Coin on one side, everyone else on the other.

RE: RL Anger
I don't have this issue. If we're getting take-out, "surprise me" is the go-to answer. If we're dining in, then the answer is super simple: don't be picky. I'd eat tree bark if I thought it'd do something for me. Burnt that pizza black? Hand it here. Oh no, that fight caused pepper spray to get onto my lunch? Oh well, down the hatch it goes - "hey, that's not half bad! Has some kick to it now!"
I just give her full control of where we dine and either opt to be surprised or just outright deal with what my selection is. Pickiness over food isn't really something that concerns me. I'm fortunate I guess, since it seems like a lot of folks have issues with being able to choose what they eat.

There is an Info channel that I lurk in wait on that is great for asking questions after you have an approved PC.
For real, Roz is quick draw with the info. I frequently tell people that if they have questions, to not hesitate to ask and that if I don't know the answer, I'll get it from someone who does. That is Roz.
