RE: RL Anger
Less anger and more...a mixture of feels.
I'm thankful. My brother in law(the one I like more than the other) was involved in a traffic accident today. He had the right of way and was making a turn on a local highway at about 50-60mph. He was hit. Per one of the officers that acted as a first responder, he was "lucky to be alive". He was given a flight to the hospital for eval. He has a girlfriend and a son about the same age as our own - which is his nephew.
I'm sad. The other driver did not live. Upon running the red light he encountered a utility truck that didn't want to budge enough. He was pronounced dead on the scene. I'm sad because this person more than likely left behind people who cared about them. Which ties into why I'm also angry. This individual, because they more than likely wanted to be in a rush to get wherever, died because they couldn't take 45 seconds to just...chill. I'm angry because I know my brother in law...who does not know that the other driver didn't make it. In truth he didn't even know what happened. He "just woke up in the hospital" per his explanation. So I'm angry because I know him, I know how he'll react. Knowing that, despite it being no fault of his own, he'll take the other driver's loss of life and carry it on his shoulders pisses me off.
I've encountered tense moments in real life, actual danger that could have resulted in severe bodily harm or death. Whether environmental or human. I'm generally resistant to feelings of sadness, paralyzing fear, or really too much concern beyond the task at hand. Prison riots and the like, having someone try to shank you with a sharpened rock, things of that nature...they tend to sort of turn off that switch in you. The one for empathy as well, sometimes.
It's coming as a peculiar feeling to me though when I think about if I had been in my brother in law's shoes. Or worse yet, the other driver's. If he had just slowed down and taken his time, he'd still be here. BiL wouldn't be in the hospital and would probably be at home. Moral of the story to you, dear reader(s): slow down. Carelessness is rarely forgiving. Very few matters in modern living demand you can't give yourself 45 seconds to stop and look around. Unless you're driving a bus that can't drop below 50mph without blowing up.
I just needed to get this off my chest. My SO's fretting a lot. Her brother's in the hospital. Most people would fret. She doesn't need my irritation with people to be added to her burdens. So, thanks for giving me a place to vent.

There are two Atarus. The one on that SW game mentioned above in the thread is not me.
Then I stand corrected. Sorry.

RE: The Music Tastes Thread!!!
Probably safe to assume some of these are going to get pretty NSFW. Five songs isn't nearly enough to relate the full range!

RE: Best IC Character Deaths
Many, many moons ago I was playing on Masquerade. I was playing a standard mortal template who was of the seedier nature. One could call him a gang-banger, I suspect. Well, he developed something of a beef with a regular to the local on-grid hangout in the seedier part of the city. This beef gradually grew and grew and grew. Pretty much every single encounter with between my character(Mason, I think his name was) and this other chap, tended toward confrontation.
So one day Mason has the bright idea to remove this problem from his plate and clear the way for him to move up in the dog eat dog world of criminal politics. He invites this dude out for a little drive into the mountains to just hash things out and generally get away from the city because the city makes you cray-cray, so some time away would be great, right?
The two characters end up taking their little day-trip up to the foothills and generally talk things over along the way. While they're walking through the wooded foothills, that's when my character starts to sort of drop back and allows his counterpart to lead the way. So he pulls his pistol from his waist(Martin Riggs style, yo). That's when the combat round began. What was my stupidly simple idea of an ambush? Quickly went south.
Namely because Joe the Other Dude wasn't exactly your standard mortal. He was totally expecting some sort of betrayal (duh, Mason wasn't a criminal mastermind, more muscle than brain). So when Joe the Other Dude notes Mason digging around in the waist of his sagging jeans, Joe the Other Dude moved in a blur, and placed the mouth of his own firearm's barrel against Mason's chest and fired like four or five times. Riddled the dude full of holes. The ambush had been turned around on me and Mason ended up taking a dirt nap at the bottom of a mountain ravine.
Was I angry? Hell to the no! It was AWESOME! I went into this PK attempt all confident, but down to try to make it fun. Only to have the tables turned and with my character ended up the homicide victim. It was great!
Years later I still didn't know what was special about Joe the Other Dude, because OOC Masquerade. I knew something was, but not what. So a few years later I actually ran into Joe the Other Dude's player again and he dished to me what was so special about Joe(I think his actual name was...Spike?). Hands down, probably my most memorable and enjoyable character death purely based on the sheer surprise factor of it.
Edited to fix typos, I'm sure I didn't get half of them. Migraines suck.

Fucktard Johnson on TR
Long live Fucktard Johnson!
On topic: I feel that MSB is generally a good thing. When it's applied with productivity in mind. Slinging mud for the sake of slinging mud(of which I have been guilty of too) rarely really has a purpose other than to take a swing at someone else.
Overall I'm generally very happy with the more positive side of MSB. I think that it's good for the hobby in general for places like MSB to be more positive. You can take in the opinions of others much more easily and give them due consideration when you're not preparing to attack someone or defend yourself every other post.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes you've just got to call someone out or whatever but I think it reached a point in the past where it became a practice which was utilized toward the most mundane of issues. Both barrels would sometimes be fired at someone simply for deigning to exist as though it would somehow deter them forevermore from the hobby and an inconvenient presence would be removed.
No, I tend to appreciate the act of compromise that seems to becoming more prevalent. Even if a compromise isn't found, the disagreeing parties at least tend to be able to just nod at one another and go their separate ways. Venom isn't there as often as it once was, which I think is altogether good for the hobby.

That Rymarr dude, man:
Right? That dude is the worst.
I heard through the grapevine that @lordbelh's rendition of Victus referred to Rybread as an "arrogant little shit". It made me so happy because he was most definitely being an arrogant little shit and someone recognized that. Which tells me that I was playing it well!
But yeah, that Rymarr, what a jackass.

Damn it. I could have made an amazingly popular character if he could secrete baby oil, lube, or pumpkin scented hand lotion on queue.
I mean it was Dayne, so even if he didn't actively secrete baby oil or lube, I suppose he had it on-hand at any given time for general application purposes.

My character still has that framed, autographed print of Dayne. So muscular!
Dayne was an amazingly fun character to play. He was a step away from my usual comfort zone and it was marvelous. I'm glad to know that he, his rose, and his Speedo are still making their presence known!
And as an aside, anyone who ever says that the Sacred Band of the Golden Standard isn't fun, needs to just be better.

or even someone just washing my hair (don't judge me - it's awesome). Then we laughed about shaving my head.
Upvoted for truth. I rarely have much hair since I tend to just have to keep it at the length of stubble or shaved. But when it gets a little long and I don't feel like dicking with it, I'll visit a place to cut it down so that it's easier to self-manage. After each cut they give me a wash and scalp massage. It's amazing. There's something about someone else washing your hair that just makes your legs turn into jelly - and not in any sort of sexual way. Just so relaxed afterward that one may feel wobbly.

RE: MU Things I Love
When you attempt to reach some OOC narrative agreement on some trivial matter, but are ultimately told that since it was never actively roleplayed on-screen that it shouldn't be considered a thing.
Then the same person attempts to get experience points out of you, without fulfilling the basic tenant that there be some form of meaningful interaction with you beyond the briefest of glances from across the room. No conversation, no direct interaction, no slow jack and a ball rub, nothing.
Sorry, I can't just extend XP to you without RP. I'm not comfortable with that. Sweet, sweet justice.

Dad Jokes that aren't forced. Especially when you're the one that gets to use them and it's really the first time you've realized you're using them. You have to take a step back and just take a moment to be fascinated by the situation.
"Hi Freezing, I'm dad."
It's almost enough to bring a tear to your eye, it's so beautiful.

RE: RL things I love
@Cupcake definitely! It was interesting to see what he'd get immersed in and wouldn't. We watched Moana yesterday and it was a big hit. I think of the dozen musicals you suggested he only showed a lack of interest in maybe two of them so I'm curious what else can get his attention.
@Auspice hah! He's open to eating all manner of things anymore. According to the vet a few weeks ago when we last took him for a repeat issue, his stomach lining has been getting inflamed which apparently makes him feel as though he's going hungry. So while he's normally satisfied with his cat food, sometimes he's just sort of like: That slice of pizza looks damn good.
