RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
That's why I'm afraid of instacart or the local chain's "curbside pickup" option. I've done Instacart once, and fortunately I was available to approve/deny swaps, but what if I wasn't?
What if there's allergies? My husband is allergic to chocolate. If the store doesn't have a good butter pecan ice cream, are they going to swap it to some caramel chocolate swirl? I could eat it, but my waistline says I shouldn't.

RE: Extra Life
@ortallus In the past, I've played for the November game day. I wasn't aware of one this weekend.

RE: Sci Fi/Opera Originality
@kanye-qwest said in Sci Fi/Opera Originality:
It's a bad idea to create a setting where people can be spread out all over a universe from the beginning. If you have a game that successfully runs for awhile and attracts players through story and atmosphere, you can work on adding other places, other destinations. But first, you should definitely create a reason for players to be together.
Yes and no.
I hate looking into a game, asking the game "What do you need?", being told "anything you want", and then get every idea for civilians / trader / pirate / random NOT-crewperson turned down because it doesn't fit in the box they want to put everyone in. Most sci-fi games that stick people in the sphere-box tend to keep even basic civilians on NPC status and everyone must be part of the crew so that they're "not left out of RP", like away missions.

RE: Sci Fi/Opera Originality
I know @Cochrane used to have an original Sci-Fi game back in the day. Unfortunately, I missed it as it was before my MU* time.
I think people are afraid of the risk of an original theme. Traditional themes, even mirror universes of those themes, feel safer because they don't have to do the lore-building that original ones do, and fans who are also MU*ers are guaranteed to at least look at the page, even if they don't try them out.

RE: Which canon property/setting would be good for a MU* ?
@ghost The Defiance MMO could have ben a lot better than it was, but damn it would make a good MU*.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
I haven’t posted in this thread yet, but since I am waiting at the radiologist, I figured I would.
I am getting an ultrasound of my thyroid today for Hashimoto’s. I am currently unmedicated for hypothyroidism, but we’ll see after today’s imaging.
The past 18 months has been a rollercoaster as I have premature atrial contractions that went symptomatic, causing me to feel faint and dizzy if not on beta blockers.
Add this to my PDD (dysthymia), and gaining 40 pounds in 6 months, and I am grumpy face.

Also @FirePuff why would you get a chicken sandwich at a place with burger in it's name? I know a lot of people do it but it always strikes me as odd. I mean if I want chicken it is not like chicken places are hard to find.
I don’t really do regular burgers anymore, to be honest. I tend to get chicken or turkey burgers or patties at places like P. Terry’s and Hopdoddy. I don’t have an aversion to beef, I just prefer poultry.

RE: Comfort Food...
I think I'm also on the "meh" for Whataburger. The one time I had it, I got a chicken sandwich of a type and it just tasted... off.
In Texas, I'm all over Schlotzsky's and Ramen Tatsuya, though.

@cupcake @FirePuff I'm not disagreeing with you about that. It's gross, not cool, and is not being diminished or defended. Duh.
It is, however, very frightening to think we might have someone in this community who might, in fact, go out and commit necrophilia for the express purpose of harassing someone they did not like on a game, and if it sounds like that may have been the case, yeah, I'm going to want to know about that immediately.
And I don't see why I'm getting my shit jumped for asking for that clarification.
We live in an era where SWATting is a thing. That someone in this community may have not just crossed the 'disgusting posts on the internet for harassment' line, but the 'engaged in violent threatening real world flesh and blood behavior' line as well, is something I would want to know about.
@cupcake said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:
@surreality It was genuinely not my intention to make you feel like you were being attacked. I apologize for that.
Same here. I really didn't mean it in that light, and I apologize if it read that way.

meant this illegal act occurred for that specific purpose.
Whether it was meant for the purpose of harassing that specific person or not, it was still captured on video and uploaded to the internet for sharing for other means, which just piles more sick right onto the already nasty and disrespectful action itself.

@thenomain
I watched the new Jumanji today and one of the characters is from the 90s and used the term "fly" and the rest of them looked confused.I was equally confused as I don't remember that word going out of style... I guess it just disappeared one day.

RE: The trappings of posing
I think one thing that bothers me are people who pose second-person. Your character isn’t interacting with me the player, your character is interacting with my character.
This isn’t a deal breaker nor repulsive, but don’t be alarmed when I keep my side third-person.
-
RE: The trappings of posing
I'm a slow poser. I admit it. But the benefit of doing round-robin in a large scene is that I'm able to compile all of my pose while everyone else is posing and tweak it to the interactions of the others, so I get out my poses within 1-2 minutes of the last pose.
That said, I have no problem with individual circles/groups within a single room having their own separate round robins unless/until combined via interactions. Like corners of a dinner party mingling together. Of course, this is almost required when you have over 6 people there.

RE: Silly things you'd been tempted to do on/for a MU*
I once had a character on a Pern game that was a mute. She carried around a chalkboard for quick one-word answers. She was an exercise in not relying too much on dialogue for my posing.

On Shang: Random chick with a cart she'd wheel into the square every so often, offering a variety of bizarre trinkets, all of which would have been amusing to me personally, but would be effectively relevant to Shang.
Example: diaphragm version of a portable hole due to all the 14-inch wangs flapping about willy-nilly.
I had a whole list once upon a time, but alas, I forget all the other ones.
This would be awesome. I don't play on Shang, but that's just amazing.

Silly thing = Delaying sleep to RP with random strangers
F U, random strangers.
I did that just last night. I don't think I shut my eyes until 4am.
