      @the-tree-of-woe

Here's an idea: for the FCs that you plan to use on a game, staff should write out those wiki-pages.

Seems to be a good way to make sure that people know what sort of Superman you want, the essentials of his background, and so on.

Also, good to point out which version of the superhero you're using, i.e.: which Robin is it? (I want to play Carrie Kelley.)

Going to load another stick of RAM in it at least. But I need some additional game suggestions, in addition to some of the ones I've got. Fighters, RPGs, platformers, strategy games... suggestions welcome.

I'm not going to lie; I'm in love with The Banner Saga trilogy.

It doesn't require a high-end computer, but it's slick, sweet, and simple to enjoy.

Except for King Meinolf. Fuck you, King Meinolf, you cheater.

In your travels, you have heard the rumors of a foul plague emerging out of Tortuga. It is carried by the sailors known to be a patron of the Bearded Clam, a well-known, seedy brothel on the east side of the island. Wise swabbies are warned to wash their planks thoroughly after spending their shore leave there -- and to make sure their fellows do the same before engaging in skullduggery below decks while at sea.

Oh ffs. Are we going to be presenting 'people should only have 1 alt' as 'the proper way to play' versus 'if you have multiple characters you're bad at this'? Ugh ugh ugh. Come on, people. There are plenty of valid reasons for people to want more than one PC.

I'm sure there are, and none of them sound very convincing to me. That's fine. I'm also not convinced the Penguins are going to 3-peat, despite the plethora of valid reasons to believe otherwise.

I'm just suggesting that, for an FC Comic Game, you go with one alt only.

      Update on Dekker:

In the Argo mission, the opposition's Quickdraw pounded my Blackjack, sending one of my better gunners to the ground. I had to send in Dekker in his Spider to cause a commotion, which he did by attacking a Shadow Hawk from behind.

The Shadow Hawk and Quickdraw were not amused, and gang-pounded the Spider into the dirt. Dekker took 4 injuries.

      Still. Did. Not. Die.

At least he'll have a modified Jenner (-2 M Lasers; +2 J Jets; add. armor) to roam around in when he wakes up in 100 days.

Statements of intent, especially when they fly in the face of a trivial search on posting history, don't mean shit. At this point you're a hairsbreadth away from being Bane Mk. II not because of that one joke but because of a motherfucking HUGE HISTORY of posts that make you come across as, well, Bane Mk. II.

Didn't we just go over how hyperbole doesn't help?

I suppose that this is the RL Anger section, however.

Maybe all you have is the glimmer of an idea, maybe you have a fully coded game but no staff, but where do you go to find collaborators?

I don't think a Classified section is a bad idea. There, you can ask for help, players to join your group on a game, etc.

A villain is defined by performing villainous acts.

The best villains are defined by how strongly we believed they were the hero.

      We did?

Yes, we did. It's in the Random Bitching section. Something about how hyperbole is turning this place into the sort of shithole that we didn't want it to be. Maybe you didn't make the comment, but I certainly read one that came off as making this argument. Which is kind of reasonable, in my opinion.

I maintain that no one gets to say what someone is or is not offended by.

But Ghost really isn't the gibbering, grandiose waste of humanity that Bane was. And you, or anyone else, can call what he said as a non-apology. What he did do, however, is declare that he was going to back away and out, and he tried to do so ... or is trying, I don't know.

For the record, I didn't think he was making light of abuse.

@gingerlily said in Make MSB great again!:

The 'MSB effect' is on PEOPLE not games. It is damaging because not all game runners are intensely resilient and sometimes when a person is called useless and pointless or jokes are made about whether they are seeing a shrink, they are hurt, insulted, and no longer interested in running a game or dealing with anything MU* related ever again...or for a few months at least. If people posting on MSB were slightly less vitriolic it would be better for everyone.

I'm going to pick at this for a second.

If people were slightly less vitriolic in general, life would be better for everyone. If we all carefully picked our words, or kept our messages somewhere between Sunny's succinctness and Thenomain's grumpiness, the messages would be clear, cogent, and concise. But we all know this is not going to happen overnight.

There was a time when this place was different, at its inception. It was so full of good feelings and felicity that HelloRaptor felt alienated, old, and useless (although, to be fair, he is at least two of these three things, no matter what). But, the good old hate is on the rebound again, for whatever reason.

      Ever wonder why?

Frankly, I think it's because we've stopped caring: not about each other, but about what and how we say things. Or, at least, we aren't taking the time to consider this before hitting that submit button. Maybe if we did that, this place would change slightly.

And then, maybe we keep on taking more and more time to consider what we're saying, how we're saying it, and if we can say it better. And then, maybe this place would change some more.

But you can't legislate that any more than you can legislate Bill & Ted's Prime Directive.

What we can do is just consider it.

Actually it is /impossible/ to make a werewolf that is incapable of frenzy. Even a Ragabash with a Rage of 1, can get modifiers to their rage pool for purposes of rolling for frenzy. It's just a rule that /most/ of the games choose not to enforce.

As a GM, when situations arise in my games were a Rage roll may be involved, and failure may be hilarious or dangerous, I offer certain players an additional XP point if they consent to failure and have their PCs frenzy. It leads to fascinating and hilarious results.

And I know in saying this I'm going to summon Ganymede telling me that I'm wrong, but we haven't taken the time to work out why the other feels so strongly about this. Or rather, why I feel so strongly and understanding how Gany can imagine the opposite.

We haven't yelled at each other like this in so long, and I've had about 6 really good bourbon drinks.

You are concerned about the production values, but you have never addressed the scope of the story. For those of us who are concerned about the writing, the story, and the leaps ahead, this is why Dragon Age 2 is the shit. Dragon Age: Origins was a good game, but it lacked the personal feel to it. Where DA2 excels is in its story, which is far more intimate and personal than DA:O, DA:A, or DA:I.

That's why I disagree with Testament. I really liked Mass Effect: Andromeda's story. It has its flaws -- all games do -- but I enjoyed the storyline. I got wrapped into it rather easily, and that is the sine qua non of the games I play. That may not be at the top of your list, but I do think you care about that because you and I concur that Merrill is so very cute and likeable.

I will play a clumsy, poorly-executed game if it has a storyline that I can get into. It's why I like the Valkyria Chronicles. It's why I adore Final Fantasy VIII. And it is why The Last of Us is the best game in the past 20+ years.

With all of the bloodlines, I'm re-doing from scratch a lot of the blood magic stuff, i.e. Cruac, Theban Sorcery, the Coils, etc. to level out the Covenants a little on that end and re-imagining how Carthian Law and Invictus Oath powers function. Here's a link to the working document.

Is this pretty much everyone's interpretation of the ending? I dont know if thats how the general ME community viewed the ending, but ever since I saw this video that's been my take; that the RGB Shep ending is ultimately about Shep fighting internally against the Reapers

My interpretation is that you should stop analyzing wrestling.

Sometimes, it's fun. Sometimes, it's dramatic. Sometimes, it's fucked up and fake. But if you ask too many damn questions, you lose sight of being entertained. And it is supposed to be entertainment.

This is the true ending of ME3:
