@Pandora said in TS - Danger zone:

But what if their 4 hour scene of relaxing, no-stress TS with a player they enjoy writing with comes just after a fraught 4 hour scene of PCs shouting each other down while building complicated, far-fetched plans that try to account for every possible variable so they can't possibly lose, accusing the NPC of being too cryptic in borderline-OOC ways that amount to 'If I were in charge this would be going much more smoothly but I can't be bothered to run things I'm not the star of' and now finally they can just bump uglies with the chick that requested this plot in which she gives birth to a potential Chosen One?

Simply, too bad. If you want to have a relaxing, no-stress TS scene, do so with a PC. If you are going to take control of the NPC, then use it for its purpose: driving the plot. Hence, why I support letting staff have their own PCs, albeit with some limitations.

As much as I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE when people are TSing to the detriment of the game/plot, I really don't think it's anyone's business who is TSing whom so long as the game/plot is being taken care of.

I also don't care with whom the staff member is TSing while playing an NPC. I care when the staff member is wasting time with the NPC that could be better spent pushing stories.

To no one’s surprise I presume, I concur with bored’s distinction.

NPCs are calculated to drive plot. If a staff member is languishing in 4 hour TS scenes with an NPC when that NPC could be driving a plot, that staff member is wasting time. That NPC could and should be used in a better manner, and for that I see a meaningful distinction.

DA:I was too long for you?

Too long, too dull, too mind-numbing. The open world aspect conflicted with the story. Horizon Zero Dawn seems to embrace both open world and story, but does so in a rogue-like style, which makes the open world aspect more tolerable.

The main reason I said 1$ per hour would be good for Outer Worlds is because it is marketed as a open world RPG. It's also why I don't buy games like Last of Us or the Call of Duties, I buy RPG games because I want something that will give me 40-60 if not more hours for that 60 dollar price tag.

To each their own. I suppose your analysis is why I enjoyed any of the Mass Effect games more than Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Don't ask if your character can kiss mine. Don't wait for her to make the first move. Just do it. If she doesn't want it she'll make it clear. 😛

With most of my PCs, I highly recommend asking first.

Longer games = better games is a cancer on the games industry.

The Last of Us has a run-through time of between 12 and 16 hours. At $60, that would put your cost per hour at around $4 to $5.

      So, you're right.

Didn't you used to post about how much tail your, uh, whatever dude on that faux-Ireland game got?

Daithi. He didn't get a whole lot of tail, though; he was best known for getting gruesomely injured in just about every combat situation, despite being well-built for combat. He nearly got his head chopped off thrice in a single scenario.

Please come intimidate me with RP. I want to see what all this is about.

I just finished up my new PC on New Orleans, Salty. I also play Sam on Echoes in the Mists, but I'm shaking the dust off of her. Further, I play Adeline on Marsilikos, Clarice on Fate's Harvest, and Amy on UC100.

I'm just getting back into things, as I'm still trying to pack all my shit in my old house for transport, and unpacking all my shit in my new house because there's a shit-ton of boxes.

Are you playing dudes in public? Can you put a literate paragraph together?

I play a lot of dudes. And I put together more than a few literate paragraphs.

I've been told that my RP-style is intimidating as hell. I don't know why? I've always thought of my style as being light and somewhat humorous.

Whatever, though. I don't get the crazies either.

How do these conversations take place? How do you make sure the other person is okay OOC?

      Talking about it, mostly.

I wish there were a more precise answer than that, but there isn’t.

      It’s pretty simple, I’ve found.

“I failed you. I wish there were another way for me to say it. I cannot. I can only beg your forgiveness, and pray you hear me somehow, someplace... someplace where a warm hand waits for mine.” — Mr. Freeze.

“No. No! You broke my concentration. It won't work. Don't you see? It's too hard. It's like tensing a muscle. I can't keep it up for long! MY CAREER, MY LIFE, IT IS GONE! AND I CAN NEVER GET IT BACK! I'M NOT AN ACTOR ANYMORE! I'm not even a... man.” — Clayface

“This is what I listen to now. (flips his coin) Chance, Grace. Chance is everything. Whether you're born or not. Whether you live or die. Whether you're good or bad. It's all arbitrary.” — Two-face.

Goddamn the writing. And this stuff was mostly written wholecloth.

All four are great, but I put BTAS on another level because of how it came to be, and the extraordinary writing in the first and second seasons.

Everyone who loves Harley Quinn must shout out to the show. The show’s ability to narrate in 20 or so minutes a villain’s beginning was mind blowing. The origin episodes for Clayface and Mr. Freeze made these obscure villains into real characters.

I could go on and on about the depth of some of these episodes, but if you haven’t seen them please go do so. I swear you will not go wrong.

Does the played-by (either your character's or someone else's) matter to you when it comes to TS at all?

      Kind of.

I can usually pick out how well I will RP with a person based on their wiki. Part of the decision-making includes seeing which PB they took. It's not so much of an evaluation of my personal attraction to them.

As for my own PB, if it doesn't match how I see my PC then things are just not going to work out for me no matter what I do.

So I'm a person some of you may recognize, others maybe not so much, at the end of the day mostly I've been dealing with pinched nerves up and down my back for the last two years and the last six months my SI started getting pinched up as well and I've been near hobbling almost wheel chair bound during that time. Hence why I've been cropping back up here, because.. I ain't got much else I can do anymore.

Don't take this the wrong way, but for the reasons above I am not happy that you've returned.

I sincerely hope that you receive the care you need soon, so that you can get back to doing what you want to.

Otherwise, welcome back, and this is the right thread to discuss medical stuff.
