And how the effing fuck has there never been a GI JOE mu? Or has there been?
A few years back I ran a short Black Ops campaign that involved invading Cobra Island after ruining Destro's presentation at an arms trade show and it was a hoot. We learned the fun way how valuable helmets and windshields are in GURPS, as one character lived through 4 deagle shots after an ambush in his safehouse garage.
Hahaha
+2 points for using Deagle

I dont mean 80s cartoon GI JOE, but comic book GI JOE or at the least live action, where Joes get killed n' shit
Afterthought: I would come back to mushing to play this idea so long as I could write PSAs as Roadblock.
"Hey brother, whatchu doin?
Them girls in Vegas will spell your ruin
You may think it's fun to pay that trick
But shes gonna leave bugs all over that-GEEE EYEEE JOOOOOOOOOOE"...and knowing is half the battle.

New idea:
A game set in the "WARRIORS" universe where groups of themed street gangs set in a dystopian NYC where gangs have assumed rule of law, thus cutting the boroughs off from the mainland.
CAN U DIG IT MUX

Does this law firm need an expert in "Bird Law"? If so, I am free to discuss becoming a partner.

RE: A fully OC supers MU
One of the things that is really good about using M&M3 is that it does one thing that the "trait description" games can't do: BALANCE
While the "trait description" system worries over what the difference between Tier 1-4 characters are and whether or not someone will abuse Dr. Strange's powers, M&M3 uses a point-buy system that makes every character made fit within a specific range of capability. Two people could use the m&m3 system to make two different versions of Dr. Strange, and so long as their point value remains the same it doesn't matter so much how they chose their powers; their top-level capability has a ceiling they cannot pass.
A PL10 Iron Man vs a PL10 Captain Marvel are always going to be able to duke it out with relatively equal footing. There is no "Angel Summoner vs BMX Bandit" scenario in M&M3 so long as they were both built to be in the same PL range.

@Ghost The LGBT-friendliness won't fly with some of WWE's core MAGA demographic, though.
And if they don't wanna join in on the fun? fuck'em. WWE's ratings have gone down 30% since the last AEW payperview. Next is late June, free stream via Bleacher Report's website.

RE: Accounting for gender imbalances
@Pandora My advice? Worry less about the validity of his opinions and more about that they're inappropriate.
There's a reason why HR always tells you to make it clear when you don't think that behavior is work appropriate. Part of that reason is because engaging the person about whether or not their views are correct or factual is partaking in the topic.
I would directly tell this person: "This topic isn't work appropriate. I don't want to discuss it at work. I'm hearing rumblings that other people may not like it or want to discuss it with you, too. As your friend, I don't want to see an HR thing happen. So, please, keep the politics to a minimum and if you want to hash this out away from work? Fine. At work? No mas."

@Cupcake Yeah, WWE is taking a huge paycheck from Saudi Arabia, but female wrestlers are barred from being on the show at all (can't have them sexy, strong, athletic women on display!). So WWE was willing to take cash for a show that discriminates against the women of WWE, who have worked so hard to get where they are.
Also, I wanted to note that on first glance Sonny Kiss may be assumed to be a gimmick. Sonny is a "loud and proud" character, but it's not a caricature. From what I've seen (Instagram, interviews) that's
who Sonny Kiss is in real life: openly out, proud of his culture, doesnt give a fuck and wants to wrestle. I love him. YouTube interview with SonnyHe's also been open about his relationship with indie wrestler Killian McMurphy.
dawwwwwwwCuteCoupleAEW is absolutely gonna kill WWE.
- Support for women and LGBTQ+ Culture
- Unlike WWE, all employees are employees with salaries and health insurance
- The more WWE does stuff like Saudi Arabia or fucks over a wrestler unfairly, AEW looks better.
A number of WWE wrestlers have defected, and there are rumors that a lot more are looking into getting out of their contracts to jump ship to AEW.

RE: Good TV
Fun Fact: New Pro-Wrestling show AEW (All Elite Wrestling) is going to be trying to take on the WWE and will soon have a weekly 2 hour show on TNT Network.
More Interesting Fact: AEW has signed a trans wrestler (Nyla Rose, who transitioned to female and is in the women's division) and an openly gay wrestler (Sonny Kiss, the Concrete Rose).
I would have posted this in the Wrasslin' thread but I thought some of you might find it neat that a major pro wrestling program owned by a Pakistani-American billionaire family is giving a fair nod to trans wrestlers.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@faraday WoD has an equipment system. NWoD and OWoD are slightly different, but generally it's categorized weapons (light pistol, heavy pistol, axe) and the non-combat equipment tends to be more specific (smartphone, muscle car, laptop with a rating score).
I think I've added gear to every WoD mush character I've made, but the actual gear itself was invoked maybe 10% of the time. Example: Most GMs assume everyone has a cell phone. IIRC the +text code also works even if you didn't spend resources on a cell phone.

Will FF7 remake be the first PS4 game to use 2 bluray discs?
I can't seem to remember any other ps4 games coming with two GAME discs (a game disc and a soundtrack disc, sure, but more than 1 game disc like old PC game days where the whole Neverwinter Nights collection came with 7 discs? No.)

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@ZombieGenesis Sorry, I didn't mean to derail. I think some people may have mistaken me saying that there are 2 different mindsets in mushing as if one side is wrong, which isn't the case. My actual intention was just to point out that when putting together a mush that uses some kind of dice system, which dice system is used matters.
Mushing has a mix of free-formers and dice-chuckers.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@faraday here's an idea
BSG may have run its course, but the same methods/FS3 could be applied to an Apocalypse-Era Terminator game based out of a safe zone while rebels are fighting Skynet.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
A street-level superhero game (think: Punisher, Hawkeye, exceptional humans) loosely based on The Boys, where the focus is dodging law enforcement whilst murdering asshole superheroes who have gone too far.
Cells of vigilantes having intermingling drama, issues with their IRA weapon suppliers, fighting for turf with street gangs, and working together to trap CAPTAIN MEGA-AWESOME in a killzone so that innocent people will no longer die via collateral damage.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@bored Mushdom isn't unified in terms of who wants the RPG systems vs who wants the writing. Some want one more than others, some want a mix, and every now and then you get some harsh min-maxxers that zero in entirely on the systems.
I get everything you're saying (re: Falcon is a character/setting, Star Destroyer imagery, etc) and I agree with you in spirit. It's just that when you use an existing RPG system you're going to have people who approach the game like a TT RPG system (I want my loot/credits!).
@bored said in What Types of Games Would People Like To See?:
It might not matter that it rolls exactly +8 for 4d8 damage, but it being a scrapyard junker jury rigged to chaotic perfection vs. a well-maintained high end craft matters a lot to the story you're telling.
It matters to the people who want to use the system. It may not matter to you, but for the people who figure all that time prepping a +sheet to use +rolls to get +inv means eventually having to roll dice to resolve challenges, the dice are going to be important.
Which, @ZombieGenesis is why I think you probably got so much attention on stats/gear. All that prep (and Jesus is d20 saga stat-blocky) before +apply suggests that the sheets are going to be important, and then they later figured out that the sheets werent the end-all-be-all.
If a mush makes me +sheet and learn a system, my initial assumption will always be that it's for a reason.

@Tempest Oh yeah, they'll probably do something dumb...but that gameplay demo got me legit excited. So far, they seem to be fucking it up less than I thought they might.
I'm torn. Part of me wants the same ffvii experience, just with better graphics and gameplay. Another part of me doesn't want the exact same story as before so that there are some surprises.
I have a feeling there will be changes due to the size and complexity of the game, as well as the fact that it's releasing in phases. If those stick to the same idea/feel/visuals as Advent Children, I don't feel like I could be disappointed. The big one will be Aerith. If the story remains the same only with better graphics, i feel like the impact will be more interesting than before. HOWEVER, I will be expecting it and would be pleasantly surprised if it flipped to Tifa or some other plot twist.
I also prefer Barrett stays Barrett.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
Sci-fi games are basically the technological opposite of high fantasy games. The reason why sci-fi RPGers love gear is because the settings are usually about stuff. X-wing starfighters, lightsabers, cybernetic eyes, cool guns, nano-gadgets.
IMO it's the same thing as fantasy RPGs being all about scrolls, flaming swords, magical horses, and magical potions; just a different level of tech.
Either way, both fantasy and sci-fi are typically about normal people using the setting's technology to become more than the average Joe to do things the reader cannot do in real life.
