I finally beat Final Fantasy 15. All in all I think it's my favorite FF setting. The ending about damn near broke me.
Noctis and Luna, yo.

@Auspice Empty milk jugs. Empty
@Auspice In my defense, when your SO is tugging at you or traipsing around in some manner of "come hither" clothing saying "Come get this..."

Better than I'd care to expound on. Won't get into that here. Life is good.
Here's a simple, yet vital, bujo template...

When I heard that Danny Devito is in the next Jumanji, I got excited.
When I saw the trailer and it was revealed that the "Rock" will be channling Danny Devito for the whole movie, I got really, really, really excited.
@Jennkryst I pictured Evee and Squirtle piloting a Jaeger.
I giggled.
@Thenomain said in What to do when your mush is attacked:
How about a link to a HowTo, then? A lot of game runners don’t know where to start and mucking around in iptables could be dangerous.
Yea, you're right. IPTables is basically a firewall setup where you better control which services, ports, and incoming/outgoing connections are used. Like I said, it would require some analysis and checking which ports you're using.
I'm assuming a mush is getting attacked right now?
As much as I jabber about using ssh these days I've wondered if there is a better way to handle MU connections. SSH is more secure but doesn't answer risks of DoS.
One thing you can do is check with your MU Hosting to see if they have any software in place that can be applied to the VM to protect it more from TCP/UDP flood attacks.
Genesis uses CentOS5.9, so I'm going to assume the base console is CentOS6 or older. There's no really quick way of setting iptables up (in an "emergency") because it requires some analysis. To note, this wouldn't be something configured inside od the mush code, but on the CENTOS Linux VM that the game runs on. From what I see, the rented server space looks like a cloud VM instance, and it depends on the user agreement with the host how much you can modify that virtual machine.

@surreality for using iptables? I'm sure there are online resources already existing that game owners can pick at.
@Rinel Yeah, she would still get a consultation from her own lawyer, I was just wondering if there was any known precedent or standard, so thank you and @faraday for your responses.
As for my mom, she's 68 and a good amount of bone was removed last time. So the jury is still out as to whether or not the current implant could be removed and replaced with a plastic-type alternative without taking too much of her natural body material. So I think she's questioning right now her age vs quality of life. Personally, I hope they can fix it; she shouldn't be taking as much pain medication as she is for so prolonged amount of time.
She'd also be willing to try medicinal marijuana, but won't (right decision) because her pain management doctors would shun her for it.
Question for legal/medical people:
My mom had a knee replacement surgery, and while it fixed the joint issues she says it hurts constantly. Turns out she is allergic to the metal that was used. Fucking yikes, right? She is allergic to an implant stuck inside of her body.
Anyway, does anyone know if allergy tests are supposed to be performed before replacement surgery? It seems logical to me that you'd test that first (because most allergies come in the form of "surprise, you're allergic to shrimp, now!")
I gather she signed the typical pre-operation waiver so she's on her own, but figured I'd ask if anyone knew about this stuff.
Holy shit, Neon Genesis Evangelion. I now understand more why people were telling me that I'd missed out.
@Auspice Nah, my hate ain't that powerful. My hate is powerful in the way that when you get a box of curly fries from Jack in the Box and there's ONE regular fry in the Box. You think "Fuckin Really? One regular fry?"
My hate put that one out of place French fry there.
@Aria Ack, I'm sorry for the awkward during such an awesome show. I'm jealous as Hell and wanna see the Queens. Also, I swear on everything that I was involved in zero voodoo at the time that would have broken an ankle. Hiss. That sounds painful.
Alas, the past is past and I think you're cool people.
As far as Homme as a PB goes? I was all kinds of dorky proud of myself about that. I wanted to fill the following requirements:
I wanted him to be that guy who signed on for 4 years expecting free college with no plan whatsoever to go career, and then war broke out.
@Auspice I would play a member of the Capsules for sure. Cyberpunk and Shadowrun go-gangs are my jaaaam
@Sparks Yeah I missed that bus, apparently. I imagine a lot of those people are on Multiverse.
My thing? I'm a genre queen. I'm not into Sailor Moon fighting alongside Gundam Wing or Tokyo Ghoul fighting the Hellsing Organization, which is why I never bit on Multiverse Crisis. I can wrap my brain around a central theme and build on it because the architecture/rules of the theme provide all the mooring points needed to write good stories in that one setting.
The moment it becomes Super Saiyan Goko fighting alongside the SDF-1 and Skull Squadron vs. Team Rocket, the Zentraedi, and the Angels from Evangelion my brain would buckle and think: "the fuck are we doing right now? Are we magic or tech or what? Serious or fan service? Harem bullshit or tragic teens?" Multiverse concepts are too sandboxy for me, personally. It becomes too "fan-fiction" for my tastes.
But a single-themed MU or a TT in an anime setting? I could do that. Also, for some reason that fighting game (even though it's multiversy) comes across less multiversy to me thanks to Marvel vs. Capcom, Injustice with Mortal Kombat, and Mortal Kombat with Leatherface. For some reason I can click with the concept of "Pick a Fighter" as a genre in itself because those genre lines have blurred and the scene ideas seem more single serving to me.
Deadly Class is officially dead. It will not be picked up by another network, which means it was either declined for pickup by Hulu/Netflix/Amazon or the IP is being retained.
