Helix is also known as Amberyl, a coder behind one of the MU* codebases, and the one who literally wrote the book on staff ethics in MU*. She pretty much abandoned it many years ago.
Best of luck to Simulacrum, but if Hella is begging people to come back, I'm going to stay elsewhere.
Repeating 'Do not take the blame for things that happened while you were dealing with real life'. It's not your fault. Don't take the blame. Do get in touch if you wish to.
Some friends and I have the rule that if you come up with something both ICly appropriate and so funny you spend more than 5 seconds giggling at it in RL, you have to do it.
This has led to all sorts of hilarity, to the point where I've taken it with me to other places. It usually brings a whole new energy to the scene, and is the starting point for all sorts of inadvisable decisions, character growth, and connections.
@mietze If you continually give all that you have, sooner or later you outdo the regen and end up with nothing left to give.
Taking a bit more time for yourself and your family is, in that circumstance, a very good thing.
A lot more people than anyone realises will be feeling this way after the last couple of years. There's a wave of people saying 'fuck it', and while it'll crest at various times depending on where you are and what you've been doing and how the people around you have reacted, it's coming for us all.
Two friends gone, in the space of a few weeks. Neither one of them was much older than me.
This year's started out brutal.
@redjellybean Also, if you find yourself in a forced dungeon/boss, people get a bonus if someone hasn't done it before. It makes everyone more tolerant of a wipe or three.
When what sounded like an entertaining evening turns out to be bloody brilliant. If the rest of the gigs I'm planned to go to in the next 12 months turn out that well, I'll be a very happy entity.
I'm disappointed. This thread has promised recipes and shit; it's delivered recipes, but so far none appear to have been shit.
The loss of history would mean/does mean that when people like VASpider pop up in other hobbies, I can't say to the victims 'go here and you'll see that you're not alone, that this is a pattern and that you aren't going insane'. If we lost all the history, I wouldn't even be able to drop by and refresh my memory on the patterns that we've observed over the last 20 years.
We don't often need the receipts. But when we do, it's nice if they still exist. Although, a better search function would help massively.
(No, the VASpider example was not a random example pulled out of thin air.)
@arkandel Diablo 4 has been delayed, today. No due date now.

I have a pain in my ear again, the same ear, and when I called the doctor they told me that they can't keep treating it with antibiotics or I will build an immunity, and as long as it's not making me scream in pain, I should endure and be kind to my ear for a while.
Had a family member who had an untreated ear infection that got so bad their eardrum burst, which can lead to permanent hearing damage. Also have had my kids need multiple rounds of antibiotics to get rid of stubborn ear infections.
So, I am not a doctor, but this seems like unsound medical advice. May be worth seeking a second opinion--possibly from an Ear, Nose and Throat ENT specialist.
Hope you feel better soon.
A burst eardrum in a child, once, is not likely to cause long-term problems. The pain is horrendous - ask me how I know! - but the hearing usually repairs itself with the eardrum. The problem comes when the eardrum keeps perforating. My Grandad went deaf that way, which is why my father kicked the health service every way he could until they operated on me. I spent a good deal of my childhood on antibiotics. It ain't great, but it's better than perforated eardrums.
I don't know much about perforated eardrums in adults. I grew out of the problem, but I know plenty of people who had a perforated eardrum once and didn't have a hearing problem once it healed. However, anything that opens up the eustacian tubes is helpful, so hot food, menthol, chillis, etc. A good curry often helps (and is frequently something you can taste when all else is cardboard). Also, anything that makes you swallow; boiled sweets are grand. Do not try holding your nose and blowing to even out the pressure. What perforates the eardrum is a pressure differential between the inside and outside of the eardrum, and trying to clear out the path your body uses to equalise the pressure with more pressure just forces the blockage higher and makes it harder to deal with. Talk to someone in ENT if you can, but menthol and hot food are generally a lot easier to access while you're trying to get through to an expert.
Good luck. Painful ears is a horrible thing, and it's guaranteed to send me into panic mode.
@lilli The vulnerabilities will get used PvP first - PvP players are competitive and frequently competitive enough to be wankers about it - but you don't need to be involved in PvP to suffer when the code can go in General chat for everyone to be affected by.
Being able to generate gold out of thin air? That's not a PvP problem. That's a problem for everyone. And I dread to think what'll happen when someone finds a way to inject malicious code rather than just images from the game's own files or a blank yellow square with 'image not found' in the middle.
For those who aren't yet aware, some major vulnerabilities have been found in New World. One or two things mentioned in the video don't work any more, but the fix didn't actually solve the basic problem.

@arkandel Really? I've had a very different, more complicated experience. But I'm in Mage sphere so there may be different policies in each sphere.
My Shifter-sphere character hasn't had any problems with spending XP. My Mage-sphere character needs to justify a skill spend more than I already did, preferably by using it in RP.

No, don't fuck that guy.
You really don't want to have to touch him, and you don't know where he's been.
