I don't know if anyone else is as concerned about watching their budget these days, but I figured there might be one or two of us out there in this economy, struggling a bit. I figured it could be good to have a thread that watched out for good deals/savings, anything to lighten the economic burden a bit.

@reimesu I don't think we're looking at any one person. Just the content. It's not a defense of Cobalt, per se (I have nothing against Cobalt, afaik I don't know them that well?), just a defense of the ideal in general.

See, the above is good. It's proof you can point to and go, I believe this supports my conjecture that xyz. But I'm agreeing with @hobos that coming in saying 'I think X is plausible because Y, but I'm not offering any tangible proof of Y' is exactly the thing that this board used to do that was damaging. And that did seem like what @Derp was doing. It was a bit disheartening to see.

Eta: do I think that makes it okay for people to come and do the equivalent of 'nyah nyah, told ya so!'? No. But that's just distraction from the heart of the matter.

@Macha as someone who has been dragged through the mud by much of the same crew, I'll offer some unsolicited advice which you can choose to ignore or not, but it's meant well.

Ignore them. Let it go, as hard as that is. These people are not your people. It may feel like you need to convince them; you don't. It may also feel like the end of your world/MUing experience; it's not.

Eventually, these things have a way of coming to light. It happened for me. And when it does happen, they won't say anything about it because it's embarrassing to admit they've been the abuser/enabler all along.

And that sucks in the moment, but it gets better faster when you just move past it and let it die.

A long time member, @Melkir of the MU community passed away this morning of a heart attack, after a very long struggle with health issues. I met him on Arx, and had the joy of playing Monique alongside his Etienne. He also played Theodoric there. He was one of the most amazing people I've ever met in this hobby, and he made everything bearable. I know my world isn't going to be the same without him in it. Words don't do it justice.

@Macha Won't lie, this hit me really hard. I was hoping he would overcome those demons. Their parents did a number on all the Carter kids.

@Macha if you get really stuck you can usually find a youtube walk through of someone putting one together. The instructions really are that terrible.

@Macha you can get them on Amazon by searching DIY miniature house kit.

Edit to add: the ones with more flowers/floral stuff are the WORST. I recommend avoiding them to start.

I both love and hate these miniature DIY kits. The instructions are not wonderful and the work is super finicky, but the end product is always really pretty. My latest, finished.

I created this thread over 6 years ago, which blows my mind. It doesn't feel like it's been that long.

But, it seems like a good focus. MU thing I love these days is telling stories, more than being in them.
