RE: General Video Game Thread
@Arkandel
It looks great but there are my two takeaways:- Never trust an EA SW game without a gameplay review.
- Respawn promised no microtransactions and no multiplayer shenanigans.
If the gameplay reviews look good and the promise holds. I may end up buying my first game from EA since 2009.

RE: Dead Celebrities 2019
He played a lot of roles but the one that always sticks out best for me in my mind was from Blade Runner. That monologue he had at the end was just...it was damn good.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I reluctantly draw the topic away from the beloved Final Fantasy but...
...holy shit if you love Metroidvania games, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is just an amazing game and I can not recommend it enough. And it is well worth the price point.
The game is gorgeous, the controls feel great, the music is well done.

You can have your fantasy of a world were a Matrix 4 might be a good movie. And I will be over here tuning my air guitar for the next Bill and Ted...

Oddly enough, the best commentary that I've found on all of this - especially as it regards to things like what happened with the NBA this week and the Hearthstone gamer - watch last week's Southpark episode.Their animated statement on the entire thing is pretty spot on and subsequently why Southpark has been entirely scrubbed from China.

@Jaded I used to have one of the original Batman (Keaton) movie display stands, but that was back when I was in high school and had no idea about 'collections' like that. Sadly it is long gone.
Yeah, the Batman movie posters were pretty popular and hard to get because most movie theater managers looked at an adolescent cross-eyed when asked for their posters. Strangely though the one from Batman Forever was the hardest to get the cinema to let go of because they were supposed to get shipped back.

I'm in a similar boat.
My father gave me an original theater use poster for Empire Strikes Back when I was about 15 but I didn't know well enough how to care for it and it got damaged when I moved out.Sad for both the poster and it being the only time my father ever picked out a suitable gift for me. (My mother only became okay at it once I was an adult.)
Star Wars posters are the heart of my collection, I think I have about 40 different kinds of Star Wars posters; all the movie posters certainly but also posters that were only available through cereal giveaways, restaurants, and other unique sources.
Star Wars is my primary geek collection. I have knickknacks, action figures, LEGO sets, posters, books, comics, lightsaber hilt replicas, t-shirts, bedsheets, adventure toys, board games - I mean for a long time if it had Star Wars anything on it, I bought it.
I just wish my tiny apartment let me put it all on display instead of being in 45 boxes in a closet.

Watching Muhammad Ali box was one of the best pieces of live entertainment I have ever seen.

RE: RL things I love
I love my brother. I love his tenacity. I love his endurance. I love that even when stressing out he finds a reason to smile at other people. I also envy these things. He tries hard to accept the things he can not change and change the things he can.

RE: RL Anger
Yes you cheap fuck. We will yellow tag your god damn fire panel and report you to your local fire marshal because you decided you did not want to have your fire devices monitored in your -apartment building-. That is a violation of state code and we are not obligated to "Ignore it for a month or two..." while you decide if it is cost effective for you to replace faulty, non-working devices.

@faceless
There is a mod that you can download for the Witcher 1 that actually offsets the learning curve for combat and streamlines a lot of the game's old issues. It was developed by one of the Witcher 3 devs after Wild Hunt came out.Most people can skip the first game easily enough but I do recommend the second game. It was an enjoyable playthrough and is a great lead in to Wild Hunt - you can even bring over your save file.
But if you skip 1 and 2, you're going to find that Wild Hunt is hands down the best open world RPG that has been released since Skyrim. And I do not foresee anything changing that until CDPR releases their Cyberpunk game.

RE: Things We Should Have Learned Sooner
Aluminum foil has push in tabs on the side to keep the roll in place as you use it.
I did not learn the pleasures of Alt-tab until Windows Vista.
2 parts water, 1 part bleach in a spray bottle can be used to kill invasive wasps in a house in about 15 seconds.
Opening a bag of microwave popcorn just a little at first lets you shake out all the unpopped kernels first.
Eating marshmallows helps a sore throat. Tested this. It works.

RE: Good TV
@Faceless Well, the narrative is pretty much leading there. When the plotline is "we need dragonglass weapons to fight the army of snow zombies led by a 12,000 year old lich king" it's just not very useful to be the guy who whispers into the right ears. I get that.
But I can still miss it.
Your summary makes it sound like their show writers worked at Blizzard some years ago.

Anyone who has been eyeing some of the Tell Tale Games and considering buying them, the company is delisting games for purchase in Steam but remain available if you have purchased them.
So if you want anything you better grab it.

@ThatGuyThere
I am going to agree with this. I have been watching it on Fox.com and I will say I just saw the third episode and...it tackled a sensitive topic with some heart. I liked it. -
RE: General Video Game Thread
I just want to voice my appreciation for Paradox. Crusader Kings II came out in 2012 and here they are, 7 years later still producing interesting and unique content for a game that is not an MMO.
I'm sure other studios have done it but today, this just stood out to me as I was going over my Steam libraries.

@arkandel
I really thought Entertainment Weekly's remarks were pretty amusing. They said, "Affleck looks like the highest-paid captive in a hostage video."Everyone I've listened to doing a review of the movie tend to agree that Jason Momoa as Aquaman did very well with a B list DC character. And they all seemed to agree there was not enough of the Flash.
