    • RE: Reasons why you quit a game...

@tez said in Reasons why you quit a game...:

Every game I have quit was due to staff acting in a way I found unethical.

This is mostly it for me. Staff seems great at the outset but the longer you play and the more the curtain gets pulled aside the more things you see and experience. Most of it being emotional instability masking some kind of mental deficiency, outright lying, or directly cheating. Its worse when it is one bad staff person among a troupe of great staff people who somehow goes unnoticed.

If you like that kind of casual interaction in an interview show you might check out the Hot Ones, done by First We Feast on Youtube.

    • RE: Real life versus online behaviors

There are a lot of studies that you can probably google that discusses these kinds of things. My take on it is that on the internet it is far easier to find a group of people who not only share the same kind of mentality but also support it - and because you can find these groups of people a person is not left feeling alone in expressing those impulses.

I think it goes back really to a form of internet culture tribalism - which the internet makes readily available. A person can find their tribe and then through the internet they are able to express the culture that tribe gives them. Then you have places that encourage or at least provide support systems for the kinds of internet tribalism that encourage negative behavior - like trolling. There are no consequences for the negative behavior inside the virtual environment and anonymity means it is easier to engage in negative behavior because, in many cases, there is no risk of disclosure of one's true identity.

Preferrably a game pre-clan but either way I am a proud member of the Black Pants Legion and supporter of the Steiner Scout Squad. Atlases march!

That is a highly neat idea, @Apos.

Could be a useful RP tool, too, if people can view the impressions people have had of them? (I don't know if they can or not, attributed or otherwise.) It'd be a great way to see if you're hitting the mark you aim for in your character's portrayal and such.

Yes you do see what other people write about you. Which is quite helpful to know how they view you do just that - gauge if you are coming off the way you desire with your character.

Hey guys, there's a lot of charity work being done by some Youtubers and people on Twitch to help out Team Trees. If you want to support the efforts of this NGO to help plant more trees around the world, check out their website.

@Sparks This is the first game I encountered ascii desces in a weapon or item. I find that...strange, actually. So I would not expect ascii art. Just...a good desc.

    • RE: Good TV

The total costs of my streaming services now equal a cable bill. We cut cable because that was a high cost with a lot of wasted filler. And now we're doing the same thing with streaming services for one or two shows off each service.

I thought that competition in the market might push some of the prices down but they're ticking upwards in some cases. This is more than mildly frustrating.

I was also impressed with Cavill's performance. I was on the fence about him but he did very very well with the role. I will even dare to say that I think this is the best role he's done.

    • RE: Geeky Collections

I do not own the space to put them up so I don't have a picture, but one of the collections I have is comprised of ~290 movie posters from between 1979 to 2012; and one large "poster" I saved from Blockbuster that is in 8 parts because it was a large window display poster.

They have 3 Shadowrun games out. All of them are good. Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun Dragonfall, and then Shadowrun Hong Kong. I have played and finished all of them and would recommend them.

I will join the thread as a me too.
I too loved the Battletech setting and game, though was not a fan at all of the Clans.
I also second BDA support of House Davion.
The longest running table top campaign I was ever in was a Battle Tech / Mechwarrior game.

My tabletop group will cycle to Battletech/MW this summer. Although most of us have enough toy figures to do a larger scale using the whole house and measuring tape for the on-field action. We call it Housetech.
