    • RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)

An idea could be match-making GMs. As a wargamer, I will happily number crunch and do the combat tactics stuff... but I am a hot mess with poses and figuring out what effects people want to achieve while only using purple prose. Because there are a bunch of folks who say they have ideas for plot, but don't know rules. There are even folks who don't know the rules for their own character beyond the very basics.

So... let's combine the two! YOU make up the fancy poses, I track the damage and use shiney models to track who is where and what tactics folks end up using.

      Or not.

      Will halp. So verreh much.

Edit to add: will halp with building, statting of npcs and various things like that. I still advocate clearing items and starting from scratch.

    • RE: All Star Wars Scenes Must be in Cantinas (with Spoilers)

@fatefan The rules are all in the book. HRs can be written up as needed, or can be done in advance. As soon as my TT group gets this up and running, I'll have a better idea of what needs more modification, and what is good to go.

I just realized Mechwarrior/Battletech could be a space lords and ladies style game, and I regret not thinking of/mentioning it sooner.

5e lacks rules for being free spriits, so no there.

AIs cannot be built using the lifepath system, so also no. Pooooooop.

    • RE: What are you playing...?

I mean, I'll look into it, maybe. But making an alt setting of a MU is kind of on-the-nose. Why not just create a different city/setting? Folks are still going to copy/paste characters from one to the other, no matter what, so it's silly to go on with the same thing.

      So 3.5, but more unbalanced.

I have a hate-on for level-based systems and vancian magic, plus, it isn't Spelljammer. I wish you luck with it, though!

@tragedyjones Australia. Double bonus points because it is also where Mad Max takes place, for all your outside-of-the-city shenanigans.

    • RE: Deep Shadows - Shadowrun 5th Edition MUSH - Help Wanted

Part of the chargen issue was I had a serious love of the Lifepath system (since it prevented the ever-classic 'I spent X years in the military, but have 0 skills that would go with it' thing). So I pushed for it a bunch, even though it meant more work on our part to write up new modules.

I still stand by a pure-karma build as the BEST way, because it is 'here is a pile of xp, GO FORTH!'... and still put Lifepath over your typical priority system, because ew priorities.

Angels are all the other Agents and/or the Adjustment Bureau.

Demons would be Agent Smith or the Oracle or other programs who don't necessarily follow the rules all the time.

    • RE: What would you want in a Shadowrun game?

@SG said in What would you want in a Shadowrun game?:

I get over this by running runs.

Alas, my days of running 2-3 plots a day are behind me. I can barely finish one in a day. Really, I just hang out on-channel, otherwise.

@Misadventure said in What would you want in a Shadowrun game?:

Are ShadowRunners too cool to have "problems at home", by which I mean their local neighborhoods?

It seems like they could contribute to the balance of power in local media, government, crime etc. Sort of the RPGs Underground or Fates Worse Than Death(1) while not on missions, and ShadowRun while on missions.

      1. A surprising near future game where social relationships and compromise are more likely than massacres.

Hilariously, a lot of the best Shadowrun things do not begin or involve actual shadowruns. Older editions inclued pre-genned rock stars and reporters and P.I.s and stuff. It is why I am pro-non-runner player characters (Doc Wagon recovery team! Urban Brawl! Talismonger!)

They also coded MCM's reboot and some other stuff I forget off the top of my head. My biggest issue is that it's mostly penn, so I must + for channels, and cannot addcom my own aliases for things.

Touching again on BOATS for a moment... Set in the Gulf of Mexico? You can get 4 major ports from the nations down there, the Yucatan has a ton of mercenary stuff, Aztlan for blood magic tomfoolery, Caribbean League Voodoo, and the CAS southern charm and gun obsession. Hook cyberhand and patch-style cybereyes upgrades will be free.

    • RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?

I would love me some Eclipse Phase and/or FFG Star Wars, but because I am the worst of nerds, I would want something like HSpace for ship-stuff. Not COMBAT, because we'll use the book things for that. But the actual minigame of flying around and killing time. Maybe have secret eastereggs for the people who use it. I dunno.

    • RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?

Eclipse Phase is fairly simplistic, using something very similar to Call of Cthulhu... roll d100, if you roll under your skill, SUCCESS! There are bonuses and penalties that raise or lower your skill up to 30 (I think is the cap but I could be wrong) in either direction.

Weapons are uniform... ish. A laser pistol is a laser pistol, a shotgun is a shotgun... and while they may have modifications, but those modifications are universal. So while one corp might sell a pistol with a smartlink, it is no better or worse (mechanically) than you buying a pistol from somewhere else and adding a smartlink yourself.
