Expectations depend on the medium; if I'm on /r/movies then I'm asking for it. But MSB is one of those mediums we can control a little better, so why not do so?

Counterpoint - we are in 'Good or New Movie Review'. So if folks are here, they are similarly asking for it.

There is Let Freedom Ring, which is CoH-lite (WC and PF are there. HB used to have a staffbit, but if I remember which one it was correctly, it has been removed. It is anyone's guess about FF).

    • RE: What Is Missing For You?

In no particular order, mostly jumping on other people's ideas with brainstormy ideas of my own:

Final Fantasy - Potentially amazing, will be tricksy depending on which advancement systems are in play. I will totes help out with this as it develops, even if it's just a wall to bounce ideas off of.

Mecha Fun! - With the recent release of the new BattleTech game, this is hella appealing. I will even go against type and NOT want a real-time fighty-fight thing (mostly because BTMux exists for that, but they have no RP or Aerospace or fun).

Chronicles of Darkness - As someone mentioned above, City-by-Night is hella overdone, and I feel that 'real world place, but with X' could be vastly improved on. My take on that is a Dark City or Matrix approach. The city in which the game takes place is all-encompassing. The matrix speaks about how you do not go on THE highway, and how Neo was in THE mountains (there can be an area outside of the city, to be sure, but there isn't someone from REAL WORLD ATLANTA visiting FAKE CITY-BY-NIGHT.) I other CoD ideas, but this is the most generic and easy to tinker with.

Cyberpunk/Shadowrun - Yes. ALL the yes. Denver is a 19 year old game with more houserules than rules appear in the actual rulebook (possible exaggeration, possibly not), to say nothing of the ooc drama and politics that have gone on there behind the scenes.

It goes without saying that anyone who spoils Infinity War here... let's just say we'll unleash @Ganymede completely on them.

Hawt. Now to lure you in for spehss snek shenanigans. Or something. I dunno.

For added fun, sprinkle in Everworld. All pantheons are real, and they created an epcot-like bubble universe where they all live together with their faithful flocks. Also: war with eachother.

Extra fun can happen if you sprinkle in a LOT of Everworld, with space alien gods, and modern folk getting pulled into the drama.

Also, I'm amazed at how little love Egypt has ever gotten in mu*ing...

It's not like someone has been shouting from the rooftops of The Reach and/or Fallcoast, truing to get Mummy added, or anything...

Scion set in the ancient world.

      Quoted for truth.

Also, for added fun, you could go full-on Everworld, which would be fantastically lolzy.

@tempest said in A New Star Wars game? (Legends of The Old Republic (Name pending)):

Boba Fett is pretty watered down, iirc. In terms of Mandalorians anyways.

      You know, THIS guy:

      Bloop

      alt text

Watch him soar! And then turned into Sarlacc nomz.

ETA: Relevant to the actual discussion, prologue RP is my favorite. Except not actual prologue RP. Flashback RP, however, is amazing. Because I just approach it like it's a Highlander kind of thing, and everyone knows everyone else from wayback when. Works best for Immortals or Vampires or whatever, but Star Wars is ripe for the pickings, too.

There is also FFG code floating around somewhere, but I don't know how complete it is.

    • RE: Travel Times - Enforced?

@rnmissionrun Your travel times are crazy long with the maths of the Epstein Drive. Earth to Mars, even at 1/3 g for Belter physique, will get you there in ~6 days (time varies based on how far apart they are at time of departure). 6 days is a lot of time, from an RP perspective, but it is hella less than the months listed.

I mean, sure, it uses fuel the whole time, but the fuel and the ship engineering that can withstand the strain are the unobtanium here. The rocket science itself is sound.

If I want to do a farm sim, I'll go play Farmville. If I want to grind mobs, I'll go play a MMO.

Do we need to have Farmville AND an MMO AND a MUSH if we want to roleplay the results of killing a mob that interfered with our farm sim?

@jennkryst said in What's missing in MUSHdom?:

@ixokai [Place] with a proper HSpace-esque flight simulator. Spelljammer is at the top of my list, but others are potentially neat.

Man, I have no idea why anyone would want that.

      1. SAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCEEEE! It is awesome.
      2. Because a simulator with Kerbal-level graphic would be excessive.
      3. Minigame to give folks something to do if they are too tired to put in EFFORT to RP, but who re not too tired to log in and do other stuff.
      4. Minigame to do between poses on the bridge.
      5. My first MU ever was a Star Wars place that had nifty things, which was followed up by Serenity MU, and I am always in the throws of nostalgia.
      6. I am weird.

I'm not saying it even be as hyper-complicated as HSpace itself was. But I am totes saying more complicated than the system on the D20 Star Wars places, and more complete than TSpace on Age of Alliances.

Re: D&D 5e - ... meh? I disagree with a lot of 5e, and still hold 4e to a higher/more logical place for MUSHdom. Mostly because of how powers are specific with what they do, and 'Spellcaster > ALL' got fixed. The only issue with 4e was the lack of proper Spelljamming.

Buuuuut... D&D and/or Shadowrun gripes could probably go to their own threads at this point.
