      @Sunny

      Integrity of the story, not individual integrity. The shared suspension of disbelief. Obviously people have feelings and one of the reasons there's such a culture of don't do it finger wagging (I think) is because of the final question.

      How do you as an outsider looking in identify when it is even happening because pretty much any RPer can justify anything they like given 5 minutes.

    • RE: Emotional bleed

      Emotional Bleed is shamed and censured for a simple reason.

      Integrity.

      Everyone here knows they can conjure up an IC plausible justification to do anything they want. Arik wants to go join Waldo and kill his sister. Would he ever do that? No. Could I come up with something that someone would go... Sure -if that's true- that is plausible. You bet your ass.

      Since all actions can be given a veneer of IC plausibility that means the infusion of OOC motivation not based on IC circumstances is poison to the game. It's loading the dice. It's not sharing in the same story as everyone else. It's the anti-thesis of roleplay.

      If anything can be justified and emotional bleed isn't condemned than how do you tell the difference outside of honest admissions of emotional bleed?

      This is of course for the negative sort of emotional bleed. The I want to kill XYZ, I want to punish XYZ, I want to get out of this situation because XYZ.

      EDIT - That last question isn't rhetorical.

      If anything can be justified and emotional bleed isn't condemned than how do you tell the difference outside of honest admissions of emotional bleed?

      ^ as people witnessing a story or action or character how do you know if it's emotional bleed or just something you didn't expect to happen?

    • RE: Selling people on MU*'s strikes me as impossible

      Not to validate the OP but if we had 100,000 people playing MUs or even a million or more. Even flagship games like Arx or Iron Realm Entertainment couldn't possibly cater to that volume. Like let just say 10 staffers for every 500 people is the lowest you can go. For 100,000 players you would need 200 admin type people across who knows how many games. Clearly we need to begin college course training for game administration today to handle an appropriate % of the total population of the planet in 2050.

    • RE: The Work Thread

      800 physical orders a day (1-2 pages each) stapled by hand to 800 inventory allocations (1-3 pages each).

      1-2 a day end up stapled to the wrong partner.

      The geniuses say "need to pay more attention to orders"

      I ask, "Oh how many were messed up?"

      The reply, "Two."

      I ask, "So what do you expect me to change to catch 2 out of 800 error when I am the start of the order process and it has to flow through 4 more areas before it leaves a building?"

      Hey!

      I happen to be a senior logis- blah blah blah. I have access to a crazy fedex discount and the ability to generate labels going to and fro for any size box you like and you can print those labels or e-mail them digitally to whoever.

      Let me know if I can help (all shipping expenses on me).

    • RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing

      So dog whistles are supposed to be things that only people in the know or people opposing those people actively would know about.

      By definition, your general populace wouldn't know the difference between a dog whistle and code language used by criminals. Yes I'd like to buy some roses, two tulips, and some lilies. The ATF now kicks in my door because they think I just placed an order for illegal firearms where roses are, I don't know, automatic weapons, tulips are handguns, and lilies are grenades!

      Then you have fake dog whistles! Like the OK hand sign that was a 4chan troll that then started being used for realsies. So then it became real... but no one would ever think it was one until seeing it reported and even when it was on the news you're like really? The ok hand sign? I mean I guess, but it seems super improbable. Lo and behold it winds up being used unironically for that purpose (eventually).

    • RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing

      @Rinel I'm going to take a stab at this as I too have played on HavenRPG and I too have uttered the phrase mesbian.

      What is a mesbian you ask? It is a man (you can define man how you like) who plays a woman who exclusively has sex with other women with a frequency and widespread selection to verge on fetish-y.

      Why is this bad you ask? I would probably say that it's a little creepy / off putting when anyone walks a mile in someone elses shoes explicitly for hawt seches purposes and makes it painfully obvious that is what is going on.

      @Wretched

      The other thing to consider is whether your state is pro-landlord or tenant.

      I have heard Arizona courts find in favor of landlords the majority of the time so here especially it is more difficult to take them to court with a positive outcome.

      EDIT - Alternate history the Water tribe invades the world as it is primarily made of water and they just control all the coasts and rivers with a watery fist!
