    • RE: Avatar / Korra game considerations

      @Roz

If you base it off the comics that game out after the first show there is political tension in the aftermath of the Avatar the Last Airbender. There was fire nation colonies in the earth kingdom and both water tribes were crossing the world to get to each other. I think instead of ba-sing-se you do a region of the earth kingdom with the colonies and this means coastal which means water benders could be showing up for whatever reason.

Justification for everyone staying they just got out of the hundred year war and everyone is super on edge the fire nation is going to revert so I was going to visit my granny in the southern/northern water tribe but I see trouble brewing here and I am a 'veteran' of the war so... I'll just hang out a bit.

      @Ganymede

      One question, I promise.

      In a transcript of a podcast: https://www.fletc.gov/sites/default/files/PartIXQualifiedImmunity.pdf

It states that a judge can waive qualified immunity to let a case proceed to trial, but that the defense can still invoke it as something the prosecution has to overcome?

Is this why so many cases that reach jury trial regarding police (or government law enforcement) end up with a not-guilty verdict? Because qualified immunity is brought up during the trial and the jury ends up going well legally speaking we guess this is 'reasonable'?

If you want to send me the cliff notes in DMs I mean. It's a discussion I'm having with someone as an intellectual exercise where we assume we don't know wtf we're talking about but discussion and research is how you learn!

Thanks I wasn't sure if individuals could be held responsible in civil suits of that nature and they just never got targeted because company had more $$$.

The debate was related to qualified immunity seems weird! and I'm like it is weird! but then I tried to liken the Bob example to sometimes you go after the dept/city and not the individual so etc etc. Laymen people mangling law.

I looked up Lawyers got this, so necro thread.

Soda company poisons the water table somewhere.

Bob the water manager was "in charge" of this aspect of the company.

Can Bob be sued for damages? or is this a case of doing my job, I didn't know and knock it up to the company level?

Is Soda company sued for damages just because they have bigger pockets?

      Everyone should try an RPI.

Most probable method of killing you. Getting you alone (codedly) in a locked room (codedly) and naked (codedly). Makes all the sexy RP extra exciting. You could get all the different variants of thrusting or you could get one. The only one you'll need to end O_O

One person cannot speak for all of their tribe.

One person not of the tribe can take offense for all of a tribe.

I always thought pining for the days when kids could play outside unsupervised was really alluding too...

Wow I wish we could go back to a time when your neighbor and strangers didn't think they could call CPS on you for not being attached to the hip of your child.

Wow I wish we could go back to a time when the government (CPS or otherwise) didn't think they could tell you that letting you kid walk home from school was abuse.

I just want to know if I'm a bad person for liking the s' instead of s's , I don't have an editor to argue with so that means it's a victimless crime right?

I'm going to take a stab at speaking for @Tinuviel because that always works out well for everyone.

      1. People play what is fun for them
      2. People can be convinced/inspired to play something that is fun for them and also challenging/progressive/whatever
      3. People should not feel as if they MUST play something that is challenging/progressive/whatever
      4. As long as someone can play something that is fun for them without being wrong fun'd or told to "think about it more" than all is well.

EDIT - That's been my take away from his posts.

I play dark eyed characters, as a rule. Why? I was born with very very dark eyes and they have been getting lighter as I get older. I liked that I had near black colored eyes so you'll see characters with black, dark brown, earthy, slate, dull black are all surefire ways to spot me on a game.

Black eyes are extremely rare, rarer than blue for true "dark" almost can't make out the iris eyes. It was unique, I liked that. If someone else had some childhood thing about blue eyes, like someone saying oh I wish you'd been born with blue eyes like your grandma. Boom nostalgia/childhood thing insert into RP, bet they might have a preference towards that given complete freedom and a choice.

      Tropes
      Stereotypes
      Something they aren't
      Something they wish they had
      Something they like

There's more reasons for someone to pick blue eyes that have no racial component than do.

What is the point of a safe space, inclusive, making people feel comfortably if shaming people for their eye color is par for the course?

As long as people aren't going gasp you're the ONLY poc on the game or GASP you're so exotic and sexy with your shade of X skin than what more are we expecting?

EDIT - @egg what about scifi shows where blue eyes mean you've been infected with the proto molecule and you're about to become blue paste and destroy the universe?

Modern setting - Singapore , Dubai, Hawaii, Israel

Fantasy Setting - Deserts, Islands, rainforests

The closer people put setting environments and locations to popular culture (which is predominantly white) the more adherence you will see to that culture. Placing things in modern and "other" places will promote a more diverse cast of characters. As for people getting into the hobby, iunno MUs are pretty niche as for Tabletop I've run tables with like 1 white person and a bunch of not white people so maybe we need to go poach some adventurer's league and pathfinder society.
