RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Aria thanks I admit to being a typical health care bod, and listened to my chest. It is just two different bugs... And I have asthma. So I upped the meds.

RE: Books...Books...Books....
Reading Poverty Safari. It is bloody good, and giving me more food for thoughts. Next, Why I'm No Longer Talking...
Alongside some Heyer and Pratchett of course. Doing it alongside them is really making me more aware of Heyer's "of her time" casual racism and sexism, and Pratchett's undermining of tropes (better in late books - it isn't mocking a trope if you are just doing the thing).

I still have the spreadsheets we had to use for our rifts mush Love the system, love the setting!

@Auspice Makes perfect sense to me. Over on Ankh-Morpork, we're still a small playerbase and split between US and EU timezones. Some scenes happen at a glacial pace. It'd be utterly pointless to make them open because anyone wandering in, while welcome, would be standing there for up to 24 hours, waiting for somebody to get around to answering to 'hello guys'.
We also do it to watch @L-B-Heuschkel become increasingly curious... (this is a joke, she is not that nosy, except relating to watch reports)

RE: The ethics of IC romance, TS, etc
@Ghost nah she was never willing to send nudes because the only photos she had were from the internet. She was mudder, not musher...

I feel useless and worthless.
Your worth is not defined by your job.
Repeating this because it is so important that it NEEDS repeating yet another few times. Your worth is not defined by your job.
Your job is one passing feature in your life, sometimes it is a bug. I don't know if we have RPed but you have talents and interests beyond the job, and are someone valuable in your own right

RE: The Savage Skies - Discussion Thread
@Tinuviel I think the new information about something that is part of my identity should change how I view it. Rather like being part of a political party, I feel I should acknowledge when things weren't right, and when actions harmed others. I should feel strong emotions when justice is not done.
Doing so doesn't harm my self-esteem. Almost the opposite.

Kinda take a little exception to it being called 'a lack of imagination', though. My imagination is fine, thanks! It just doesn't make actual images.
This is supported by a number of the articles I've been reading. From the researcher who's primarily studied it:
An inability to visualise does not imply an inability to imagine: imagination is a much richer, more complex capacity than the specifically visual ability lost in aphantasia.
I would agree with this. My daughter definitely has a fabulous imagination. She has struggled with therapies based on visualising and also with seeing a future based on the things we are going through. So she struggles to motivate herself with visions of the future. That is why she never came to Australia with us..
That might be a YMMV thing!

The rules protecting the likeness of a person are pretty weak overall and is the reason you every now and then get these news articles about a random tourist family being used for billboard advertising since some random photographer took their picture and sold it.The EU has some pretty strict rules about copyright and the rights belong to.
"The Court of Justice of the European Union has ruled that internet users should be free to share links to material, for example photos or videos, providing the material itself has been published online with the permission of the rights holder. The right to share links however does not go as far as allowing users to share links that are designed to circumvent paywalls or other subscription only services. Copying images and then hosting them on another website however will usually amount to copyright infringement. You should ask permission from the copyright owner before using images in this way."
I remember staffing on Windy City and a pissed-off player emailed the author to tell her that we existed. Luckily, she didn't seem to care so..

RE: The Work Thread
Dear work
No, I will not engage in your "apprenticeship". I understand you get extra money if I do but it is 300 hours a year, for two years, and unless you take some of my work off me I'm not adding it to my already packed workload. I also will not be using my scholarly time to do this because that is mine and I use it to maintain clinical competencies. Get stuffed.
Best wishes

RE: Plot Advice
I agree with most of that which has been said!
I often use breadcrumbs too. The plot takes as long as it does but breadcrumb scenes happen anywhere, anytime I need something to have happened that either was caused by the players' actions or was not prevented by them, or just happened. Those can involve random players and may never be picked up by them, or might.
The breadcrumbs draw new faces in, or bring the plot back to the attention of the player base, and make it clear that sometimes they have to act.
