I bought good walking boots. I did not realise how much effort I was putting into not falling over on the dog walks until now.

RE: Serious Question About Making A MU
@faraday can tell you that I am NOT a natural coder by any means. I live with a Ruby coder, and he has tried and tried to teach me to code. I used to be vaguely proficient at mud coding but it has gone the way of all my memory things...
So when I say that you do not need to be a coder, I speak from being someone who is incapable to retaining the information to learn to code. Some of us are, you know You do, however, need to have persistence and use the support network @faraday has set up. There are a lot of moving parts and I have broken many of them.

RE: Well, this sums up why I RP
I started when I was really quite unwell, and needed something that I could focus on, have people around but be able to just not when I couldn't.
Now I just enjoy the writing as it is very different to my work and uses a part of my brain that needs exercise. It gets my daydreaming out of my head. Also I like a lot of you people. Not, you know, all of you but.

I've largely found MUSHes to be far more progressive when it comes to gender/sexuality politics than when it comes to race.
If you say so. I've found that people's progressive attitudes toward my gender and sexuality directly correlate to how much they can fap to them, which I guess is better than a lot of reactions but is still pretty creepy.
This is the perk of being pansexual. People mistake me for woke because I'll fap to anything.
This is the perk of being bisexual. People don't know we fuckin' exist.
ETA: Why do I call myself gay then, you ask? Because fuck you, that's why.
When we do exist it's 'cause we're stealin' everyone's wives and husbands cause if you like more than one gender obviously you can't be with one person at a time.
Bi here, married to an opposite gender person. That makes me no jot less bi. Just slightly more invisible!

@gryphter I'm trying to learn the art of saying no when asked to do things above my pay grade or outside scope.
It's hard. Our generation was raised to be go-getters in this sense. That if we didn't put in the extra effort, go the extra mile, etc....we wouldn't get the money or promotion.
I have a stock phrase - "I'm sorry, I don't have capacity to take that on at this time. Can we revisit later in the year?"

I play POC and other genders/orientations quite frequently, and no one has ever said anything like this to me.
I am happy that you've had a good experience in playing other genders, orientations and PoC. But I have seen people had strips tore out of them, verbally, for doing what Egg suggested. Banned for doing so, as well, with the crass comment of, "Player is probably of the type to wear a nurse's outfit or Native chieftain costume for Halloween." I didn't stay long there.
EDIT: Took out some snarkiness.
As a nurse, feel free. But it should have bodily fluids on it, be trousers, and have a pen stain mark on the pockets.

RE: Diversity Representation in MU*ing
@Three-Eyed-Crow Ok. Sexy nurse is annoying.
<rant>It is annoying because the profession already battles against the handmaiden issue. Because we actually have trouble with people seeing beyond the trope. Sexy nurse, angel, handmaiden. Not, you know, professional who has extremely strong decision making, communication, risk assessment and other skills, with a massive knowledge base. Here is a quick run down on why it is a problem.. I've literally experienced those problems - I said trousers because a patient put his hand up my skirt. I've been dismissed by doctors as "only a nurse" when I'm a nurse practitioner with a masters and prescribing qualified in two countries... We're not sexy handmaidens. </rant>

I lost my job recently, redundancy is a bitch but it happens. Other than that, everything else is fine except for this weighted-blanket of depression I have no excuse for because everything is fine.
Depression isn't about reason or whether it is all OK. It just is. Hope you feel better soon

Pratchett (ignore the figurines, they are inherited and I'm struggling to work out what to do with them - they may join some other things in a box):
Bobble heads (daughter's - she has around 50 all over the house)
Momiji - more across the house

illegal immigrants
Refugees are legal, by whatever means they arrive. A peeve of mine. I don't accept that premise of the argument made by the idiots now sitting in old bunkers on the coast of England. Refugees have a right to come to us. They are different to illegal immigrants.

RE: RL things I love
I did a reflective session with my students who are in practice. Just giving them a space to talk about their feelings, and it ended with such positivity and pride I could have cried. So. Bloody. Proud.
