RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@fortydeuce I don't honestly think that's going to be a problem with the design we have in mind. Trust us that we are dedicated to making fun things for people that facilitate rp.
The entire reason we have shops code like that is so that crafting pcs don't HAVE to spend all their rp time rping about commissions for people. Fashion will be a thing that will benefit those that want to take part, and prestige in general will be a BIG deal (but will not solely depend on fashion). You can definitely still skip coded clothing objects if you like.

RE: What's missing in MUSHdom?
@thenomain said in What's missing in MUSHdom?:
Thought of two other IPs that I'd like to see as Mu*s. Wait, three.
- The Last Of Us
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Mass Effect (yes, I know it's been done, but can continue to be done)
I may have a penchant for situations where humanity is buffeted around by the situation or environment. I think it makes for compelling stories to be told.
What a rich and fertile ground for storytelling! Problem: no great setting or narrative element survives (a lot of) players. So if you do it well, and it's popular, you'll have people doing social scenes and bar rp and sleepovers, etc, in your stressful/limited/dangerous environment. Unless you have a team that can commit to offering NON STOP STORY to keep people from drifting into these comfort zones to amuse themselves. Maybe even if you do.
Solution: ???

RE: What's missing in MUSHdom?
@faraday Ok but that's not what I was referring to. I meant the type of social rp that ignores a setting element. It's having 'pizza and movie night' in an apocalypse. It's having fifteen outfits and doing a secret santa in a fantasy garbage world where everyone is starving.
The 'problem' (and it is only a problem in some settings) is when people left to their own devices rp things that make no sense because it's easy and familiar, and that is most of the activity available.
You can have social rp by your definition (and you SHOULD) in any setting, doing things that make sense. you can have quiet conversations while trying to maintain/find/stock a shelter. You can take downtime.

RE: Good TV
So Defenders (spoilers)............
Wow, what a let down. The HAND (and Elektra, specifically) were the nasty, fugly anchor dragging DD season 2 down. I mean, the portrayal of the punisher was great, Karen and Foggy were being developed and no longer saying the absolute worst dialogue every time they were on screen...and then KMART ninja clan and a character so bitchy and stupid it was shattering the limits of my suspension of disbelief to try and comprehend why Matt would still have a thing for her.
I was really scared when she showed up in the Defenders. But Sigourney was killing it and Elektra herself was an expressionless killbot so I thought ok maybe this won't be so bad.
Wrong. So wrong. I hate that character. I hate what the MNU has done with her. I hate her stupid accent, and her stupid OUTFITS and her stupid existence, and I hate what she does to Matt Murdock when she's around. The. Worst. Fuck.

@arkandel said in Wheel of Time MU(SH|X):
I'm just not a fan of limiting special playable concepts. I'd rather not have them at all than restrict them - because who ends up with them? It creates a big ugly divide, generates drama and appearance of favoritism that I've never seen work out for MU*, you know?.
I have 0 familiarity with this setting but so much of this. If you are only going to let 'certain small amounts' of people play something, it doesn't matter the metric by which you decide who can do it - it's going to create bad feelings. If it needs to be limited, make them off limits for players and just use them as antagonists or something.

I was relievappointed that nothing Night Vale-y happened during the eclipse. Like, I'm glad skeletons didn't come up and take all our skins, but I mean, not 100% glad??

RE: MSB, SJW, and other acronyms
Self-regulation is never going to work if 'we don't do that here' is not true. If we do that here, then what can anyone say to anyone else? I'm not even saying I feel the kind of speech being discussed needs to be moderated, but that sort of passive community influence only works if the community is mostly homogeneous in their view of a behavior, or if that behavior is mandated or outlawed by some kind of policy.

RE: Good TV
It was totally in character for him to beg. Littlefinger was a person comprised 70% of ambition and 30% of survival instinct. The imbalance is what got him killed, but I think it's totally in character for him to do whatever he thinks might get him a little more time to manipulate Sansa.

RE: Inspiration material for your current game
@ominous said in Inspiration material for your current game:
Arx is inspired by Brandon Sanderon's "First Law," supposedly, so that might help understand some of the elements.
I'm so sorry to be that guy, but the First Law is by Joe Abercrombie. Brandon Sanderson has written a lot of other stuff, some of which I enjoy a lot - none of which Apos has read.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
I think JLA was doomed to be that, as @sparks said. I'll still see it - I'm one of the few that kind of enjoyed Batman V Superman, and I LOVED Wonder Woman. But they changed tack too late in the game, when I heard they were doing reshoots to try and give it a lighter feel.
Also fuck Brett Ratner and fuck changing the costumes of the Amazons to be skimpier. I'll still see this. Probably. Maybe.

I also appreciate the apology and the context that it provides. I'm still a little confused about where the bullshit in question came from but I guess haters gonna hate?
in any communication issue, I am being misunderstood and it is totally explainable. You are absolutely doing it on purpose to ruin something for me.

@arkandel I mean he's also a boozed out sexual harasser so maybe he rightly wants to lay low for awhile and wallow in that knowledge about himself. Ben Affleck, that is.
