I love it, crotchety Jewish miner ghosts. Is this related to the myths that you can distract fairies by making them count rice or sand? I've never really explored the fae stuff. But once, I saw a bunnygirl.

but sometimes the world-view of men who, wanting to believe men aren't as bad as they're made out to be, look to sources that pander to that outlook and wind up brainwashed by statistics that make it look like women are out to get them.
ALSO qft. It's hard because I get it, it SUCKS to admit you are/have been/benefit from The Asshole. And it falls to people who care about these otherwise decent humans to be like hey. YO. It's ok, but you're wrong.

RE: What are you playing...?
I'm playing "working on a game instead of roleplaying in another game."
I also have a lucifuge on Fallcoast that I have roleplayed three times (and enjoyed intensely each of those).

IDK. Feels a lot like a disorder to me.

You had fun and you now no longer have fun with Mr 5th in the room? Do something about it. Take your fun out of the cafe and into a cab, and drive somewhere else IC. Make something out of it instead of complaining, or seething internally with resentment, or bitching about it in pages.
+1 +1 +1
How about - roleplay? It's very easy to dismiss and then ignore people being disruptive for the hell of it - you know, the guy who runs in and collapses in a bloody heap at a table of strangers just trying to have coffee. And if you do it IC, then you are refusing to let it disrupt your scene and that is zen and good.
And if it's someone just posing in to see who bites and feels like interacting, do or don't, but again, it doesn't have to disrupt anything or be taken OOC.

RE: What do you eat?
Eating a lot of fancy vegetable dishes is a privilege, sure, but the 'cost' argument is not the correct one. Dry bulk beans and rice will feed a family cheaper than even McDonald's dollar menu, absolutely.
The argument that families where both parents are working multiple jobs and do not have time to prepare food would be closer to an actual root cause, I think, but even then it's not the foods that are the issue.

On a MUSH, we assume the rest of the IC world still exists, if you conceivable demonstrate that you stabbed them (easy, in the code), gave the IC doctor a chance to be found (timestop the scene to be fair to the player, not be a douche and say 'welp offline, they failed') or got staff to check for NPC docs for you, and then make your rolls for stealth to show you buried them without being noticed yes.
...what? If A is setting out to murder B and get away with it, what exactly determines what is a 'fair' effort to find a doctor? I mean, if you stabbed someone, you are probably not going to make any actual effort to find a doctor. This example has gotten way far afield and doesn't make sense anymore. As Pandora noted.

RE: Favorite Youtubers?
brad mondo is a treasure.
James Charles fast-talk tapdances on every single one of my nerves, but I also want him to be happy at this point. Like who among us did not act like a dumb teen when we were dumb teens, let him fucking live. -
RE: Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes
@Lotherio That's great, but is not appropriate or acceptable for all game formats, right? Sometimes, being around matters. I don't think anyone should be punished for lacking massive free time to pour into a text game, of course, but let's just be real: we are discussing games.
Sure, sometimes you get emotionally invested in games. That's natural! However, if your life doesn't allow you to play a game the way the game is meant to be played, that's not a punishment - that's just a bad fit. If you can only play a game once a month, find a game where that doesn't matter. Shangrila. Skyrim. Online poker. Whatever.
A game runner setting up activity requirements isn't punishing or excluding anyone in particular, they are laying out what their game needs.

RE: How does a Mu* become successful?
@Wretched
There's nothing 'power mad' about telling an abusive babyplayer to go sit in their rooms and calm the f down. You aren't being an asshole if you demand to be treated with a minimum of human respect. -
RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
It's absolutely normal. Sense of passing time is notoriously missing in ADHD people. That's why routines are so important (haha, not that I have successfully ever implemented one).
I was even being generous. Actually, if it wasn't literally yesterday? I am 100% guessing if I ever attach a time frame to something. I can say with some certainty it was this month. This is also how we hyperfocus. We lose all sense of time passing. When i'm on meds, I sometimes think the headaches come because I look up and it's 3pm and I haven't eaten since lunch or dinner yesterday and when did I last drink water or caffeine? Whoooo knows.

RE: The Shame Game
@Thenomain It wasn't bad, actually! I'm just furious no one even commented on the flat earth movement gaining support all over the globe.
I MEAN COME ON.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@RightMeow it's not just you. it's not your fault, it's not that you don't care, and it's not that you're a bad, inconsiderate person. edit - and I get it, because I thought it was just me, too

RE: Character Rosters
You're also setting yourself up for a LOT of staff overhead with that. If you want a roster of throwaways, you'll constantly be restocking them. And if you aren't putting good work into them (as I sure wouldn't for a roster full of throwaways), are they really a good example of what you expect out of CGs?

RE: Can RP be art?
Yes. Creative writing and improv are both 'arts', and RP can be both those things.
My issue with RP is that it is usually in a setting not your own, and so it feels to me a bit like an expenditure of creative energy with nothing 'lasting' to show for it, if that makes sense. Fun, though!
*edited because there's a pretty big difference between "improve" and "improv", STUPID BOARD SPELL CHECK.
