@Swaggot
The consensus is: none of those concepts were denied for being 'too interesting', but for not fitting with the game. (PS none of those concepts were even interesting) OH NO. Go play something else. This isn't the civil rights movement, you aren't being oppressed by being told you can't play a terrible cartoon character on one particular game.

RE: Making a MU* of your own
@Swaggot If I was, how would you know? It's pretty clear you have no real life experience with cunts. I could literally answer any way, and you'd have no frame of reference.
So, yes. I am in fact the Omega Cunt.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
hyperactivity is only one way adhd manifests. The other types are 'inattentive' and 'mixed'. One of the reasons women don't get diagnosed as much is that they tend to exhibit inattentive symptoms more than hyperactive ones. Looking back, I can definitely tell i was super hyperactive ADHD as a kid, but the older I got I got way more 'inattentive". My brain is still hyperactive, though. Hence why I am always exhausted.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
The player help in explaining things to people is wonderful. WONDERFUL. Also, our help file situation should improve drastically. We know they are not great.

This is a shitty, stressful, up in the air feeling. I'm sorry you're in this situation, and I really hope it works out quickly.

RE: Leadership, Spotlight, and PCs of Staffers
My real ? is this: aren't staffers usually chosen from players who have risen to/performed well in leadership positions? The one time I was elevated to staff, that's how it happened. I already played an 'important' character before I was made staff, and while my experience is limited to one big game - in that game, that's how a lot of people were made staff.
So, what's the solution there, if you feel staff should not hold positions of IC power?

The Punisher is killing it. HA get it? But no, really, he's doing a great job. I like the angle they are taking with him.

But if we can't trust our fellow players then none of this really works. I don't want my IC social attempts to succeed if the other person hates it but is forced to go along, what's the point of that? How much fun is the scene going to be?
Bolded for emphasis. Your response suggests that any course of action where someone 'hates' the outcome should be avoided.
Oh, you misread it or I didn't explain it sufficiently. That's not at all what I was saying. I was saying if the person I am playing with will either cheat if he can or need to be brute-forced into accepting an IC action if he can't, then I don't want to play with them.
That kind of person will sabotage the outcome anyway so continuing the scene is a poison pill for my fun.
Systems can't fix bad people. They can only facilitate and improve interactions between the rest.
But this isn't an all or nothing distinction. No one is reasonable all the time, and otherwise reasonable, pleasant (OOC) people will sometimes lose their shit and get very emotional and bent out of shape during any type of conflict - social OR physical. And in some games, non consent games, you don't always get to pick who you interact with. Sometimes you have to go see X. Or deal with Y.

I got my fit bit LAST NIGHT and I am already one of those people. I am counting steps and I caught myself trying to talk to someone about them.
I am sorry, world.

Well I'm not speaking for the fuckin trees, here.

RE: RL Anger
Grats! I sincerely hope it is temporary, for you. I had severe 'morning' sickness that landed me in the hospital for dehydration on several occasions, and kept me mostly bedridden until 4 months along. I got pregnant and lost almost 30 pounds.
A few tricks I learned. The scent of fresh lemon helps with nausea, as does holding something very cold/running cold water on the inside of your wrist. For morning sickness in particular I finally figured out the trick is never ever to let yourself get hungry. When you wake up, keep graham crackers or something by the bed so you can have a bit before you try get up.
Good luck!

I'm leery of this. I think it's fine for people who just want to follow a pose order, but as soon as someone gets chastised for NOT following a strict pose order, I'm much less ok with it.

RE: RL Anger
@Derp
Then by all means, let me be as clear as I can.I'm not surprised you are having a hard time with this concept, because it is weighty and fucking DAUNTING. You will never, ever solve the issue of gender based harassment and oppression by stopping it piecemeal, when you see it.
NEVER.
Is it a good thing to do? Absolutely. Will it make a big difference for the female (or trans, gay, minority, whatever) in question? YES. Will it make one fucking difference in preventing it happening somewhere else, to someone else? Sadly, NO.
The only way to fix this - the ONLY way - is to change our society. That's a big task. A really fucking big one. Step 1, for you, is to stop looking for reasons to deny. You need to realize that is what you are doing. You are in a position of privilege, a position of power, just by being who you are. That's great for you - you benefit from it, even if you aren't taking steps to make sure it continues.
But the old saying is true : when righteous men do nothing, evil flourishes. In this case, it's not enough to just be innocent of this shitty behavior yourself. It is - sadly - not enough to try and prevent it if you happen to see it happening to a friend or someone you know. The only way to be 'part of the solution' here is to ACCEPT that because of your position of privilege, other people suffer.
What you need to do is be part of a wave, a rising chorus of voices saying "This isn't ok and I want it to change."
The only way to fix this is to make our society one where it is un-fucking-acceptable for one person to dictate to another. A society where it is NOT FUCKING ACCEPTABLE for men to make decisions for women. About ANYTHING. No telling us what to do with our bodies. No telling us what we should or shouldn't do when it comes to our careers. Our families. Where we walk, and when we do it. What we wear. What we say. What we attempt. No putting us in jail for having miscarriages. No restricting our access to fucking birth control. No implying that women are irrational, or unreasonable, or illogical. No super funny jokes about how if you use a vagina once, you end up paying for it. NO VICTIM SHAMING/BLAMING. You feel me?
Because in a society where it is acceptable (and even in some fucked up views, necessary) for men to make decisions for women? That means women do not have agency. It means women are not whole people in the way that men are whole people. That means there will ALWAYS be that undercurrent of viewing women as sub-people, which will encourage weak, fucked up assholes to victimize them.

Oh, I wholly agree. Law gets the same issue. PCs can blatantly murder people in broad daylight and Law sphere is told 'oh just find a way to work around it' or to ignore it completely.
I get why Staff may sometimes be leery of PVP type situations, but you are entirely right. Supers can fux with Hunters, but not vice versa. Worse than that... on many games, Hunters aren't even allowed to use NPCs of the other spheres. So you can't, say, have Hunters deal with a pack of WW moving in on the area.
Yeah, I got told this the last time I tried to play a WoD game, as a hunter. Not even in small prps that are ONLY for my hunter friends, not allowed to hunt the same types of things that the game supports. I've had 100% underwhelming experiences trying to get into the WoD rp sphere, and this was the one that boggled my mind the most. "Oh but if you kill a vampire NPC in your story, some vampire PC might get mad!" Well..tell them not to? Tell them to mind their own business? Stay out of it when me and my hunter friends kill that vampire, too? I just feel there were so many options that would have left things open for EVERYONE to have fun, and none of them were the solution they went with.
Just, like - if I have to leave this dumb tiny Maine town to do any hunting, what in the name of FUCK are you putting forth as the plausible reason there are even hunters here? Like, what. The cells just all decided to move to a backwater, supernaturally infested hole...and then they just commute all over to do the actual hunting.

RE: RL Anger
So I started those books, and I was like wow that was kind of whatever, and people who love the series are like NO JUST WAIT, IT GETS BETTER. IT PICKS UP AND GETS REALLY COOL, YOU'LL SEE.
So for a couple of books, I was waiting for it to get good. Then there were two characters off in some other place that I actually really liked so I read on, thinking I'd hit the mythical turning point I had been promised (That turned out to be a lie. The story was tolerable for about 1/3 of a novel and then it was right back to your regularly scheduled hella rapes and overpowered dudes being really ridiculous and spazzy).
Then I kept reading because I was like you have got to be kidding me, there is no way he can do this for 9 books and get away with that, right? When I was pretty sure that was exactly what happened, I had to finish it just so I could say I had. It was my Sisyphean task.
I had PTSD and didn't pick up another book for months. I have stopped taking any and all recommendations from the friend that kept urging me "NO REALLY IT GETS GOOD"
