yes! People don't hate other people for differences, they hate them because someone has painted the different people and their differences as the reason for their problems.
Probably there are settings that bake this kind of propaganda and superstition into the history, but what I see is usually just lazy. Goblins are evil, so everyone hates them.

Overpopulation is not actually a problem. The global population produces enough food to feed the global population with ease, and I think all the humans on earth could live in Dallas if we packed them in with the population density of India*.
(*citation needed, I read something something about the Dallas/India thing and don't feel like finding it!)
The problem is a huge imbalance in resource consumption, and distribution.
Just gonna say I don't believe for a moment that "not realizing i was trying to be too nice" is the worst any of us have done.

Man. Lived in the valley for a couple of years, and this is EXACTLY how I feel about southern California. Goddamn gorgeous place, it would be the perfect place to live if it wasn't full of Californians.

@surreality No one has said it was an "innocent inquiry", unless I have missed something? There's a difference between a confrontational statement and a personal attack, is what I'm getting at. I think the two being conflated is an issue.
Digression - it is an issue for ME because it happens to me all the time. Like, no, trust - if I am personally attacking someone, there will be no doubt.

don't try to play the witcher 1. I got all 3 and figured I'd start there and I made it about 10 minutes before I had to bail. Apparently in games 2 and 3 the devs learned how normal people play games, so that's good.
for arx specifically i'd say outside the first batch of staff created rosters, all that's really asked is that there not be any hidden sexuality or gender expression GOTCHAS! A la the firan days, like @Tinuviel mentioned. Outside of Sao, who was (probably still is?) the go to roster generation machine, staff doesn't really make rosters anymore. (TO MY KNOWLEDGE). They say to sao: we need more princesses/disciples/archlectors/fishmongers, etc. Everything else is a player submission, which is usually them trying to fill a specific need they have for a position or a family. So there's no, like, gamewide census or diversity control mechanic.

ETA: i didn't hate the defenders. I thought it actually really redeemed Danny Rand for me because of all the winks the writers gave. Like yeah, this guy is a literal child, and also a dumbass. The fight with him and Luke Cage was delightful. I really liked the dynamic of him and Luke, and Jessica and Matt.
