@faceless i watched two five minute videos that summed up the story of 1 and 2
Imagine a lot of "and then Geralt fought a thing and a woman was shady" repeated a lot

- Make the game an actual sandbox, that does not mean staff should not introduce plot elements and run NPCs with agendas but they should be deciding 'Where do we want the story to go?' then railroading things. The meat of the game should be competition between player characters and the environment they find themselves in.
It sounds fun, but how do you go about this? I expect when you open a game you need to have plot ready to go for people to sink their teeth into. Like that ambiguous 'strong opening paragraph' they tell you about in creative writing.
Almost all the female characters are ten times better on the show, but I agree about Cersei. I think she has stayed consistent and never LIKABLE but at least understandable. The horrible things she does (and is willing to do) are always in the service of her deluded need to 'pay her debts' and be a badass Lannister like her father.

In addition, I staffed on Firan from late 2000 to early 2002. (No, I didn't kill your character. Unless the shark ate it, that is; I built the shark. So if you got eaten by a coded shark, oops. And if you fed someone to the shark, shame on you. Sharky probably got indigestion from that.)
You killed MY character. Except it was IC and it wasn't you, it was a fall from an exploding bridge. Also, I didn't die, because dice. BUT it was good times, and we got to make Bjoern say "please don't do this" five times before the mission.
Riot games sucks and it's really disappointing to me, because I put a lot of hours and a lot of money into their game. If things I love could stop letting me down that would be great.
I wasn't looking for thanks. What I was expecting/looking for, I didn't really get, but you could say that's my fault. I had the unreasonable expectation that if I jumped through all the hoops set before me, I'd eventually be allowed to tell 'important' stories with the Sacred Theme.
But not to hijack another thread - I just think a lot of lingering hurt feelings and issues could probably also be avoided if people just tried to be a little understanding. Then, maybe, staffing wouldn't be such a burnout.
Yeah GRRM cannot write a fully-personated woman to save his life. Luckily, his life does not depend on it!
@somasatori
He forgot he had given her the extra key, man.
DA2 was, objectively, a bad 'game'. It was rushed, they ran out of budget/time for new areas, new encounters...basically everything was a cut corner EXCEPT the most important parts of a bioware game, to me. The story, and the characters.
Varric Tethras is a perfect porcelain kitten and I will never hear otherwise. Isabella was amazing. Aveline was amazing. Their development was amazing. Fenris was wonderful. Merril was wonderful. The DLC prince dude was completely forgettable, your siblings were whatever, and Anders was there, too. Purple Hawke was amazing. Any other Hawke was...but why. Why would you do that?
@HorrorHound Pls send me novellas.
It's hard for me to agree with that, looking back, but I know you're right - I read 2/3 books in because I was intrigued by some of the characters, and the magic, and wanted to see where they would go. (SPOILER: they went fucking nowhere)
And then I kept reading, and I was like 'wow, this guy sure stuffs almost every female character in a rape refrigerator REAL fast". And it just piled on and on and on. Over the course of that series: hundreds of rapes. LIterally, hundreds of rapes. One female character I found kind of interesting got mega-raped just so a dude could turn into a tiger man and go on a killing rampage. We never really saw her, again. Served her purpose!
Couple that with the fact that he introduced plot threads seemingly specifically to drop them and leave gaping holes, and every badass character was a ridiculous Shonen power fantasy, and just...I regret it so much. SO much.
We were all the Last of Our Names. Thank you, Firan implosion, for that tiny bit of coolness.

Something I think some folks might be happy about, out of light of Anthem ceasing development.
lol i didn't even know those dumb mfers were going to try it.
@Apos
I know I personally watch the walking dead and am sure I would do it better.
"YOU COULD HAVE BEEN SLOWLY CULLING THIS HERD THIS WHOLE TIME YOU WERE JUST STANDING 'GUARD'."
"OMG YOU SAW THE WATER TOWER WAS F'D UP WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU."
@Arkandel Dude, I can't answer for the shitty scriptwriting this season had. Established characters basically lost all their good sense, and we just kind of had to shrug and go with it, because dragons are cool.

It's that time of year again! Square Enix is selling a holiday mystery box of 7 PC games worth $80 for $9.99 US!
I don't trust Square Enix. They've put out a lot of shit recently.
Right? Fuck your mystery, I suspect this is like paying them $10 so they can essentially give you their garbage, like "Here, YOU throw this away."
Yeah, I've got nothing except a super mature desire to get myself an Epic D merit.

Companies that interview you and then fill the position internally.
Assholes, I wore heels for that.
Did they tell you when they hired? So many companies I apply for don't even offer that.
Mind you, I only have to wear ties.
Ties & Jackets > Bras & Heels. I don't know how women handle it.
By not being little bitches, mostly.
Ok then, I amend my statement. We freed ourselves up. Thenomain is also now free to go fuck himself, as rigorously as he can manage.
