RE: A healthy game culture
@carma player a is convinced player b is shutting them out of a plot because they are mad about some random other squabble player a was involved in.
How does anyone prove a motivation? Player b insists player a just didn't ask before someone else did. Or they missed a message. Or they tell you ACTUALLY it is player a that has it out for THEM

I do not have a Pyr. I think like any other double-coated dog, they wouldn't do so well in the heat and humidity of my state. Also, since I'm fond of adopt-not-shopping, there's a lack of big floofs in my area. HOWEVER, this is my girl, Bell:
[The picture's huge. OH WELL.]
um huge pictures are better. SHARE. GIVE
i bought braum, but i bought him for $300 from the farmers who kept his mom and dad to guard their livestock, and they just breed their dogs when it's time to train up new guardians.Which is still not adopting but i am not sorry. He's my angel baby.

RE: Space Lords and Ladies
@Three-Eyed-Crow
... ok I don't know what PHB is supposed to be, either. So it seems to me like Lords and Ladies games are the games of succession and marriage and nobility and gentry, etc, but without other systems to give life to the world for those not involved in finding an attractive noble and putting them ass over teakettle?
Or do we use the term to apply to those more rounded games if there's an element of that? Because like, GOT to me is not all about marriages and sex and babies. It's a strong theme, but there's a lot more going on.

Went and saw it and my experience was "meh". It just felt like something they had to do so they could get to stuff they REALLY wanna do. Not a terrible movie overall but, IMO, one of the weaker Marvel movies(above the likes of Thor Dark World or Iron Man 3 but way below Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers: Infinity War).

What would be nice is to enforce societal norms that do not promote free loving.
Free loving, or marriage? What are you really complaining about, here? You mention TS, which is what I would guess you mean by free loving, but then you also say you don't want characters marrying FOR LOVE.
I just ask because this "enforce societal norms' is such a red flag.

So on April Fool's Day I fell through my deck while taking it easy and not doing fighter practice on my lunch break (I was doing a little light gardening instead). And not one of my friends that I told thought it was an April Fool's Day prank (it really wasn't). It's a little thing, but I love the people that know me well enough to know that 1) I don't prank, 2) I hate AFD, and 3) random bizarre accidents like that happen to me ALL THE TIME and this was nothing out of the ordinary.
my friends. <3.
my friends that do AFD 'jokes' about being ill or wounded are no longer my friends on april 2nd
BUT. YOU ARE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE DOING LIGHT GARDENING -

RE: RL Anger
It's been years since I spoke French, but I was following Le Monde obsessively today as it was updating faster than most of the English language news sites today. Provided I've been translating correctly, what we know so far is:
- Two thirds of the roof, including the spire, have been completely lost
> - As the spire was directly above the altar, this was likely destroyed
Somehow, somehow, the altar survived the spire's collapse.
Small, structurally sound thusly. Also the melting point of gold is way, way higher than the burning temp of wood.

I just want to get out what I have thought up for my character. I dislike being removed from play before that by something I had little to no interaction with. it MIGHT be possible to make players feel their actions have repercussions beyond their immediate RP, and thus understand the escalating states of tension and so on with effectively remote seeming RP.
Seriously though, players are not there to be someones extras.
I don't think anyone likes losing a character unexpectedly, and that's understandable. But I think you're going to the extreme other end of the spectrum. Not every PC can be the protagonist, but that doesn't mean every PC is an extra. Running with that analogy I would liken PCs to an ensemble cast, like in the Avengers or LOTR, etc.
It's not always fun for everyone involved, but good stories contain risk, and danger, and it's hard to really FEEL those things if they aren't...real.

@surreality No one was shaming anyone for caring about Notre Dame but you tilt at those windmills I guess?? Have to fill the day somehow.
Okay, c'mon, you made a post to discourage people from donating to the Notre Dame reconstruction because something else deserved the money more. Don't pretend that's coming out of nowhere.
how is that shaming people for caring? I care, I thought it was devestating to see ND burning. I posted in another thread 'god I hope so' about the structure of Notre Dame being saved.
Saying don't give your money to this cause that is already funded by rich people when there are poor people who need it more is not shaming people for caring, it's making a suggestion. Don't put your negative interpretation on me.

Even with staff at their least fair and most arbitrary towards players, it's not like most GMs are randomly picking players out of the rooms they never leave and killing them
You SAY that. I can remember firebombs and attacks in the city in Firan where offline characters were forced on grid in case something burned down their shack.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
Yeah ADHD people often have trouble disconnecting and going to sleep, and then we don't always get good sleep while we ARE asleep - not to mention the mental fatigue that comes from constantly trying to refocus attention and castigating yourself and being anxious about all the things you are letting slip. IDK all the science behind it, but it is definitely a symptom.

A subtle mage. Someone who understood the ramifications and consequences of being able to manipulate reality.
A profoundly terrible and noble sidhe, whose motivations are completely inscrutable and nigh-alien in nature. A master manipulator, but without veering into cliche.
An intelligent redcap, whose cunning surpasses their ferocity.
A mummy that isn't a celebrity, but more of a joyful sage, who is slow to anger and operates on a very refined and cautious plane, due to the risks of being judged.
An intellectual satyr.
A pooka evangelical/prosperity gospel preacher.
A nocker who says more than 'fuck'.
Real talk, I have no idea if half of these are actual WoD archetypes but I unreservedly love them.
Like an intelligent redcap? Is that a sentient fungus? Why do I even think that? Who knows? Why is the implication that mummies are usually celebrities? What's a nocker? So many questions, but the pitch is solid.

RE: What do you eat?
I am (99%) vegetarian. I eat vegan when I can. I did try the impossible burger, and honestly? It was so authentic i didn't really enjoy it. The taste, the texture, appearance, everything. It was a burger, a thick burger. As someone who never really enjoyed the taste of a thick hamburger patty (i liked them thin and crispy), it was TOO good a dupe.
But I too mostly don't eat meat substitutes. I don't like tofu, or seitan, and certainly don't want morningstar meat-imposters. I just eat food without meat. Beans, veggies, lentils, grains.

They are all OWoD racial types, mostly Changelings.
Redcaps are pure appetite and fury. Pooka are shape-shifting fae. Satyrs are those humans with goat legs from Greek mythology turned into a faerie kith. Most people play them as horny goats, but there is another tack to take, which is that of the intellectual. Nockers are another kith/race of fae who are frustrated perfectionists, loosely based on the mythological Welsh knockers (who were the ghosts of miners) and somehow turned into crotchety Jewish stereotypes by White Wolf.
Mummies are supposed to be refined immortal souls taking up residence in the bodies of slackers, at least in Revised. Most of the ones I have run into on games have been some sort of celebrity, for some reason.
And it just keeps getting better! All the upvotes for you.

RE: Fandom and entitlement
I think when depicting it doesn't spark a lot of "that was forced" or "why is this this way" discussion. Or, you know, when representation comes anywhere close to approximating human experience.
