MU players suck dick. Yes, you reading this right now, you are a terrible person and a complete shithead to just about everybody in the hobby outside of your circle of friends, because you're a selfish fuck with no self-awareness.

Wow, what a short season, only 3 episodes! What a great ending, though, with Arya telling the night king of death 'not today mfer'. Perfect, and actually foreshadowed! I'm glad they didn't have Jon kill him in some cheesy duel. Considering Jon is like 0 for 4 in battles won, that made sense.

It's your responsibility as a staff to engage with all players regardless of how fun they are

Sure. You def can't ignore players who aren't fun for you (unless the reason they aren't fun is they are rude or disruptive or don't buy in and make you miserable, etc). But it is absolutely not your responsibility to engage with all players equally.

@Wretched do you honestly think staffers are not going to prefer rp with players that are fun for them to rp with, regardless of TS?

You can find something hot/sexy that is still 100% ic, and that is not creepy. If I am doing IC rp and someone tells me, OOC, that it inspired a RL orgasm? That is invasive and uncomfortable and weird, and it is ON THEM.

I have so many yikes right now.

How many people would any of us trust to take "RPing out sex" to be wholly IC?

      YIKES

I always assume, default, that sex being RPd out is wholly IC. On the rare occasions I have done sexy rp and suddenly felt like ...oh, this is probably a kink this player is keen to play, I have felt massively uncomfortable and that was the end of that.

The? No. It shows that it is A way to get story.

That's your opinion as a person that thinks inter-personal RP via staff NPCs is fine.

Mine (as someone who does not think it's fine) is that I just saw Sue get a cool new weapon because she went 18-holes with StafferBob, and I did not get anything because I don't enjoy that particular flavor of RP and didn't jump on StafferBob's putter.

I may be completely wrong and pettily jealous, but now I'm completely wrong and jealous over here, on a game where I'm more comfortable with how staff uses their NPCs.

I dunno, it makes me a little uneasy to paint those who are ok with NPCs having interpersonal relationships as likewise being ok with handing out loot to players for having TS with them.

Also can speak from experience, a lot of people assume this kind of thing is happening when it isn't. A lot of people assume if NPCs flirt/spend time with PCs they are fucking them, and if they are fucking them, a lot of people assume it was not FTB and make noise about how unfair it is that the NPC was using their time that way whether they were or not.

IDK. play on the game that has the things you are comfortable with, 100%. I think at the end of the day every staff team's goal is for their players to have fun.

@Sunny said in Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?:

The problems with sex and romance that are being used to object to sex and romance in plotlines are not actually problems with sex or romance. They are problems with unethical staffers behaving unethically. That sex is the topic is irrelevant.
It's fine to prefer that sex and romance elements (or mini-golf) not appear in plots. However, it IS a preference, not an absolute, and presenting it like people using sex and romance in their plots are unethical or bad for using them? Nah.

      Agree!

    • RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?

@bear_necessities it really depends on the game and the NPC. Maybe you see an opportunity to seduce a player char and bring a certain child/romance/tension into the story. Maybe you are playing an NPC in order to make the game world more immersive and reinforce an element of theme and that character would have the sex with someone for some reason.

The pearl clutching EGAD an NPC had teh SEX response I think is really a 'this person is not using this NPC for player enjoyment, but for their own" response, which really just means that person probably needs a course correction or not to play NPCs. As long as an NPC action is making story or character development or raw fun for player(s) with their RP time, I got nothing but confetti for them.

ETA I am not saying I think playing an NPC should be an unfun chore 100% of the time. Staffers get to have fun, too. It just needs to be character relevant fun and not 'hey this person has a hot PB i want to see whether they use the word x or x in ts'.

@Thenomain i could not care less if npcs engage in ts. But it should be in the interest of the plot and the characters, in the way that i think ALL npc rp time should be in the interest/service of the plot/characters of the game.

    • RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?

A PC pursues plot like a player. A PC may sign up for, participate in, even make bold moves and be the star of a particular plot.

An NPC is there to further the story, or enhance the world, or hold a position that is important but not appropriate for a player. An NPC may not sign up for a PRP and discover the solution or defeat the bad guy or do something else that takes spotlight a player could have away from players.

      Bingo bango.

FYI the impossible burger was the same price as regular burgers at the place I had it.

Also, the ethical concerns I see most re: eating meat here (IE huge factory farm industries and the wanton cruelty and environmental havoc they cause) are also a first world issue.

Also also India has pretty much the highest concentration of poor people in the world, and only 30% of that population consumes meat 'regularly'.

It is a first world problem created by the first world and systemically entwined with it. That does not dismiss or devalue the conversation in any way.

@jibberthehut you can make delicious vegan cake and cupcakes, but it takes some elbow grease and willingness to delve into strange places. Aquafaba (the liquid from cooked chickpeas - canned is fine) is the best way to get fluffiness, because you can beat it to stiff peaks and you can do something called 'reverse creaming' to avoid the doughy, bready texture a pure applesauce substitution gives. You mix all the dry ingredients + sugar, then add your fats and stir it all together before you ever add liquid a bit at a time. Something about the fat molecules getting properly coated. Everything has to be room temp or you'll overmix and they'll be tough.

    • RE: What do you eat?

I am (99%) vegetarian. I eat vegan when I can. I did try the impossible burger, and honestly? It was so authentic i didn't really enjoy it. The taste, the texture, appearance, everything. It was a burger, a thick burger. As someone who never really enjoyed the taste of a thick hamburger patty (i liked them thin and crispy), it was TOO good a dupe.

But I too mostly don't eat meat substitutes. I don't like tofu, or seitan, and certainly don't want morningstar meat-imposters. I just eat food without meat. Beans, veggies, lentils, grains.

I must confess though that I've always found it weird that you need to incentivize RP at all. Like... RP is literally the point of the game. Why do I need a carrot on a stick to get people to tell stories, on a game that's about telling stories?

It's pretty baffling to me, honestly.

Why do people not exercise? Isn't having a long and healthy life literally the point of being alive?
