There's a bug in Ares that makes it so banned IPs can access the portal and the tour. @faraday kicked me the code to patch it; I can pass it along if you guys are comfortable installing your own code? It's like two files to edit.

Otherwise, I'm sure it'll be patched soon.

His concept was just stupid and when @bear_necessities called him out on it, he got all hostile, so we just decided that he needed to not play here. That's when the trolling started. Yeah, but it's not a big deal. The bugs are fixable in Ares, and it's only temporary.

They aren't bugs and you know it.

There are ways even if these /bugs/ are fixed that a person can still bypass the block and ban.

And still claim your rostered characters or force it to where guest logins need to be disabled.

The question becomes, Which is the easier path past this. letting faraday sort through bugs that aren't really bugs.. And then seeing that the issue remains.. Or trying to fix it through other means.

I think we're okay for now. The bugs (Faraday's words, not mine) will get patched. In almost a year... this is the first time we're run into something like this. Worst case scenario, I can ban the person at the server.

Well, you're wrong.

@Tat shut her game to new players for months because it was too popular.

@bear_necessities and I have had many, MANY conversations about the frustration of being a place people play because it was the only place TO play for a while.

So you can "kinda get the sense" that we're just trying to look like bigger people on MSB than we actually are (which, honestly, why would we bother)... or you can accept that some people run games without wanting them to be the #1 place to play, just A place to play that people hopefully enjoy.

Gotta beg to differ. I want my game to be a player's MAIN game if it's where they're having the most fun RIGHT NOW. If they find another place to have fun RIGHT NOW, that should be their main game.

Honestly, the lack of "competing" games - whether in the same genre or a completely different one - is the opposite of awesome as an admin. It means players are stuck square-pegging it on a "good enough" game rather than being excited and energized on the RIGHT game.

Absolutely. Which is why it's nice that the hog-pit remains opt-in, so people don't even have to go to the effort of avoiding it. (Unlike the ten million Arx threads, which I have to ignore one-by-one. Could we just make an opt-in for Arx drama?)

It has happened. Several times. They don't last, 'cause people get bored.

There's a reason the Hog Pit accounts for ~45% of the posts on MSB: it's more fun in there.

I honestly can't even tell you how many times I've been like "can you pls help me, i don't know what i did :(" and Faraday was like "yep, here is what you did and here is how you fix it." She never even was like "omg just stop touching things, you are obviously not competent." Which I deserve many times over.

So, do we all agree that @GirlCalledBlu and @Seraphim73 probably aren't racists just 'cause their pretendy funtime world that they made doesn't address all the things ever?
