I am so, so lucky. My boss knows I have ADHD, and if I'm in a groove, he knows I can look at an email and not absorb/respond.
Like today, when he scheduled our one on one, while I was on lunch. And I didn't RSVP/realize it until a half hour before the meeting.

I get depressed every December, I have pretty much as far back as I can remember. I know some of it was trauma suffered directly as a very young child this time of year. I also know my father, who suffered that same trauma with me, reinforced the depression by his own affecting him every year. He would drink more, get moody and nasty, etc.
This year, I didn't even make it to December before it hit. I'm sure having no actual thanksgiving, and just stress lately hasn't helped. I'm just desperate to not fall into the black hole.
My boss really is a pretty great guy, and I know that he's got people over him.
But when you talk to me to address something about 10 or 30 day cases on Weds, and we're off for Thanksgiving, I do not need to be browbeat with it on Friday by you coming into my excel sheets and highlighting shit in red.
Priority means #1 thing on the to-do list. You can't have 2 different things both be number 1 for me to do.

Thanksgiving for me means watching my roommate hog the kitchen to make cookies and home made mac and cheese to talk somewhere else, so I can put my turkey roll (w/ gravy) in the oven for over two hours, and then steam my baby reds for fork mashing, and bake the brown and serve rolls. I couldn't get any squash, so.
My sister teaches kids that read well below their 'age level'. She told me to pick out books for her classroom library for her birthday.
I totally went with Ribsy, Ramona Quimby age 8, and Mouse and the Motorcycle, along with a couple newer ones. Beverly Cleary was about all I read in 2nd grade.
I read a LOT as a kid, so the "classics" like Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Wizard of Oz, Black Beauty, etc all stand out, but other things kinda blur
@GreenFlashlight I have the Diabeetus, have for years now. Type 1, and fairly well controlled (I actually need to /lower/ my long term once a day insulin dose)
@Auspice I probably need to get it checked. I had signs of fatty liver a year or so ago? And the edema that comes and sloooooowly goes, can be a liver thing, too.
I don't know WTF is wrong with my legs. I've NEVER had dry skin issues, beyond needing some lotion now and then in the winter. Right now, my legs itch almost constantly, and I've scratched myself bloody more than once.
Different lotions, creams, moisturizers, and nothing seems to really work. I've cooled down the showers I take, use moisturizing body wash... I just.. I'm so befuddled.
@GreenFlashlight I have 2 sisters. They're both good people, who want to do good in the world. (Spec. ed. teacher and the nurse).
The teacher sister? She's lovely, and I love her and all. But my nurse sister just brings this light inside me, when I get to see her/talk to her.
I feel bad that I have one sister I love more than the other, but it's all personality types.
My sister is a nurse assigned to the Covid unit. Every day is terrifying for me, because she is one of the best people in my life, and the world would be a very poor place indeed, if we lost that light.
Of course, her working in that unit, means I don't get to see her. Because I'm 'vulnerable', and all that shit. And it sucks. Because I just want to hang out with her, and have her tell me all the whacked out shit she sees every day. Just to hang out and let her unwind, and tell me everything. I miss her, and worry, and thinking about it just makes me ramble.

@Wretched Yeah. First world problems came up as a phrase, and I started head bobbing to the Weird Al song in my head, and told my boss I hated her for getting it stuck.
Lol my lack of filter from ADHD came up in my work meeting today. Thankfully, my bosses find my random song lyric connections amusing.

@Wretched The making sounds, humming, narrating. - I STILL DO THIS, all the FREAKING time. But when it's the worst? When I have to do training over Zoom for new people on the team.
Or at least I keep noticing it then.
The saga has a new plot twist. Doctor called in to a different health network (there are two systems here in my town, but thankfully they can work together), and I got in for the mobile testing site...Next Tuesday.
@Derp Well, as I haven't had anyone come over for sex in quite some time (because I'm a fucking hermit), my method: Wait until it irritates the fuck out of you, then overdo it and throw all sorts of shit away you'll need a week in the future.
