@Ghost I am so sad about this. He was a hero to my brother and I. We liked him so much, we named our female cat Eddie.

Just when someone trashes a storyline they know you're working on... and it eventually comes back on them.

RE: RL Sads
I just can't catch a break. My aunt in August, an old friend in September, and my grandmother passed away suddenly this evening.
She's my stepmonster's mother, but I've called her grandma since I was 7. She distanced herself the last couple years, especially since my father died, but I still care.
This will sound weird, but a couple hours after she passed, all of a sudden I could taste caramel corn. Like the taste was so thick in my mouth, I could have been eating it. But that was her thing. If I went to the mall where the caramel corn stand is, I had to bring her some. I'm choosing to decide that means she was saying goodbye.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Pain is something I am used to. But Body, could you not fuck with my hands? I need those to work, so I can buy the shit that's supposed to keep me functional.

@Cobaltasaurus I'm sorry to hear it. The steroids will help, but fight like hell to not stay on them too long.

RE: RL things I love
The Satanic Temple.
Now that I'm registered with them, I get their emails. They have so much going on to try and make the world better.
The Protect Children Project. They erected a billboard in Springtown Tx, because an assistant principal /spanked/ two teenage girls. Spanked teenage girls. Yes, it's against the school rules. But that's against common sense, and I can honestly say if any male authority figure had tried that shit with me back in the day, I'd have hit back. (and I can say with fair certainty my parents would have supported me on that). But the superintendent tried to get the policy changed (and be retroactive) to protect the guy.
Yeah. Thanks to @Wizz for reminding me this awesomeness of people exists. Hail Satan.

RE: The Work Thread
@Derp I think in part it is because not as many of my cases answer the phone as did when I was in the office. That's because a lot of people don't want to answer a blocked number, and I have to call out from my cell phone, so it's blocked. The office calls show the office name, etc.
So I'm not actually getting as many enrollments as I did in the office, so I think that is why I feel like I'm not doing much. But that is a pretty widespread issue for wfh people on my team.

RE: The Work Thread
So my co-worker's been slacking on his duties pretty much since the day the company got their shit straight and got me back on the job.
Today, after months of not dividing the caseload in half, one for each of us, he does it before I even see the caseload email. But.. he didn't divide it in a normal way. He divided it pretty well in half, all right... but 8 of his 15 cases, were actually one case. (They're listed by name, not by simply case number). I called my boss, and we discussed the weird way it was split up.
I'm working in our county, as well as taking on cases for three other counties, besides. He's only doing cases for our county. I don't feel like I really have enough work, and I'm at home where I can screw around between calls. WTF is he doing all day, in the office? -Boss doesn't know. Boss says I am doing more than my fair share, but honestly, I just have enough to barely feel productive.
So yeah, little pissed at co-worker.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Ganymede I've never even thought about filing an ADA request for Logan to come to work with me. I guess I didn't even know it was an option.
It's not that I'm responsible, so much as I know the pushback I'd get. That and I'm allergic to kittehs, so I wouldn't want to do that to someone on purpose. But everyone knows that studies show petting a dog helps the blood pressure! It'd be a health benefit for the office!
-
RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Ganymede Yes, but people come to our office that need help with Medicaid and other social services, and therefore may be allergic, will be the BS I get, unless I find a way to get him service trained.
-
RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I wish they would let us have something like that, but as we're a public service office, it's a no go. Otherwise I would totally be pitching Logan for office doggo. He would totally just wander the floor, answering calls to be pet and given treats. And then curl up near mom, when he decided he was tired.
If only I could afford to have him trained as an actual diabetic dog, as he already signals when my sugars are way out of whack without the training. But then I could take him places.
Which would be way better for me in my life, no lie. -
RE: RL things I love
@Wizz That card is actually quite lovely. I'm totally in line with the social progress and other tenets, but I didn't know there was an actual MEMBERSHIP CARD.
Shit. Now I totally want to be a card carrying member.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@Auspice And just now I realized I left the soda I picked up in my trunk. Fuck.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@GangOfDolls I can only send you virtual hugs, and spare a moment to wish that you can puzzle all of this out, in the way that's best for you.
