@GreenFlashlight I have a friend who does this. The ideas she gets for using up shit in her fridge blows my mind.

RE: The Work Thread
@silverfox And all this makes me think - what would I have done, back then? My parents had 4 kids, we didn't have a computer until I was almost done with high school.

RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?
@deathbird It still amazes me not everyone has seen Long Kiss goodnight. It's some of Geena Davis' best work.
ETA: And today on my FB, came up this memory: "QotD: When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of you, and 'umption. Now where is my Royale with Cheese?

@deathbird It's my favorite quote from Samuel L. Jackson.

@deathbird You know what happens when you make an assumption. You make an ass out of u and 'mption.

How about a game where everyone is treated with respect? That would be a nice change.

RE: The Work Thread
Second grade is a little fuzzy, but third grade there were several text books. And workbooks. And then I liked to go to the library... And then the research stuff for GnT

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@silverfox I have 8. The most recent was a tribute to my father, in a way. It's a lyric from a Rush song, that was on when my sister told me he was gone. "We're only immortal, for a limited time."
That wasn't supposed to be what I got. I was going to get 'Just Breathe' - because of my anxiety and panic attacks. So I am RIGHT there with you on the 'I should get that tatooed on me.'
(Yes, I know technically Just Breathe is also a song lyric. :P)

Well, 4+ hours of playlist, and not a single song skipped/fast forwarded. I am oddly proud of myself. It was a pretty great drive, tbh.

Challenge accepted. (I was actually about to make a playlist, no lie, for the 4 or so hours I'll be on the road today. )

There is too much noise in my head and I can't focus. And then, I will get short bursts of hyperfocus so intense that I'm oblivious to what's around me.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@JinShei - I feel this. I had calling hours yesterday, and funeral today - in a church with no AC, and the windows open. When there's heat advisory. And I'm in a dress and had to wear leggings, because I ran my last pair of pantyhose.
I will throw that bra out. It's just... eww.

@Auspice Is that goldstone? The wire wrapping is lovely.

RE: RL Sads
Well, it's over. She went into Hospice on Thursday, and I got the call already that she's gone. I am unbelievably thankful I got to say goodbye on Wednesday, and to hold her hand, and to tell her I love her.
I knew it would be quick, and I would almost certainly never see her alive again, but I wasn't quite prepared for it to be /this/ fast.
Thank you to everyone for the kindness and the thoughts/energy you spared. I am sure it helped ease her on her way.

RE: The Work Thread
I love my boss. I dislike suddenly being asked to take on another person's share of a project, when I'm already covering 3 counties. And then taking on their county cases, on top of the special project.
I get it - he thinks I can handle it. But right now? I can barely focus. I want a long ass nap.

RE: RL Sads
My aunt is being put under hospice care. I've been told to come say my goodbyes. She's the matriarch, the one who remembers all the birthdays of /everyone/ (and with my cousins' broods, that's a LOT), the one who always has the sage advice but will also tell you to put on your big kid pants and deal with it.
When my mother died, her house was home, while my father tried to handle everything. She was safety and logic and the stories of my dad when he was young, and what my mother was really like. She taught my sisters and I all kinds of weird things, and always made us dance the jitterbug at parties.
I guess I needed to blurt it all out. If y'all could spare a little kind energy - she's a great lady, a tough as hell woman, and one of my heroes. This hurts.
