Fuck my boss sideways with a chainsaw. No, you can't discipline me for using my accommodation days for the month already - that is what they are there for. When the Supervisor for the whole department told me they were going to take care of the thing, why would I follow behind them, doing the same things? I wouldn't. I'm pretty sure you can't give me a monthly review, and then a week and a half later tell me you're putting me on a final, when I have a month to correct the minor extra step that you implemented two weeks ago. No, my sugars are not predictable when they add a new med to my collection to take daily. No, you can't discipline me for taking the time to correct them that I have the accommodation paperwork for. ...time to look for a lawyer, I guess.

RE: Superstitions
@Wretched This is me with Gladiator. I have never, ever made it through that movie. I've passed out, gotten sick, had the power go out, and gotten into a fight with the guy I was watching it with, so I left.

RE: Superstitions
My dad would send my stepmother upstairs when his teams were losing in football way back when. They said it worked ( I think she was happier upstairs anyhow).
If I watch the local college basketball team with people, they win. Alone? They lose.

RE: What's your nerd origin story?
I was not born into a nerd family, at all. Dad was very much the 'manly' sort, cars, planes, sports. My birth mother - I have no idea her interests, since she passed before I could really know anything. Stepmom is super conservative in her hobbies - she has to be ladylike, so it's like scrapbooking, and making wreaths and things.
Brother and I had an Atari when I was still pretty young, because we lived in the middle of nowhere with not much to do, and pretty close to a highway. He always whipped my butt though, so I didn't play it much.
I learned to read pretty young, and would read as much as I was allowed. I was reading stuff inappropriate for my age pretty early, loved reading. When I was about 8 or 9, my brother picked up some comic books, and I read them when he was done, and that, as they say, was that. Played video games as often as I could (my folks would not get me a NES), did D&D, got into the horror movies... and never stopped.

RE: RL Anger
No boss, we were told we got paid vacation time. Period. None of this "Well you don't have that many hours banked." We didn't pick and choose, we had to bid. There was no way at 5 hours of PTO every 2 weeks, I could accumulate enough time to take 2 and a half weeks of PTO time. WTF.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Having some stupid quirk that makes cilantro taste like soap, and everyone around me talks about how good it is. And then finding it is in my peanut sauce enough to ruin it. Blech.

RE: RL things I love
Whoever talked about Hozier in a thread recently (I think it might be the one about sounds that make you think of your character?) - reminded me to pick up the new album. I'm not even through the first listen, and already in love with it. So thanks!

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
I got a medical accommodation request to be allowed to work from home to deal with some auto immune disease issues. - I've only been working from home not even three days, but the difference is AMAZING. Not a single migraine, my pain levels have stayed way lower, it's just... if this is the new normal, I might be able to do more than work and lay around in pain!

@Auspice No idea, other than the freshener was battery op, because we can't plug in things at our desk?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I try to be tolerant at work. One girl who sits in the cube behind mine is eating constantly (and it is not quiet or without smells), but she's also 6 months pregnant and she's trying to be quiet and all that. She doesn't eat anything atrocious (like the boss and her microwaved sulphuric foods. Today was cabbage.)
There's another girl in the office, who goes out on her breaks and lunch and smokes like a fiend in her car - and then sprays on cheap, horrible body spray to cover it up - which it doesn't. She comes in and there are several of us who all cough for a few minutes, it's that strong in her wake.
Then there's the air freshener. It was spraying every few minutes, a couple weeks ago when someone brought it in. It gave me a migraine, made the pregnant girl complain about feeling nauseous, and made another girl complain about a headache.
They moved it. 4 desks from its original position. It's still there, despite me going to the boss twice about the migraines it has been giving me, and making suggestions/offers to buy something less chemical laden. -no response, still there. I'm still getting migraines every day.
I called the HR department, only for them to tell me I have to talk to my boss' boss about it. I'm also supposed to start working from home before the end of the month. So I really don't want to get a migraine every day, and I also do not want to go to my boss' boss just before I'm supposed to be moving out of the office.

@Aria I feel this. so very much. My boss recently microwaved brussel sprouts. Twice in one day. I get she's trying to eat healthy, but she ate it at her desk - in the call center. And made us all gag on the sulphur/cabbage smell

RE: MU Things I Love
I love Staff and players that understand why you just /can't/ right now, and not only don't hold it against you, but are supportive and kind.

RE: Good Music
@aria I don't go to events anymore or anything, but I do remember that one couple that their clothes when they took the crown had actual SWASTIKAS on the fabric. Holy dramabomb (and rightly so)

@ganymede Do it. Don't put it off. Make meatballs with him over like facetime, if you have to. Take it from me - time is not what you think it is, with your parents.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
The weather is playing hell with my joints. Things are locking and popping and just plain grinding/on fire. I'm on a new drug for it, but it can take up to 3 months to work. I'm so over it.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@auspice I love this for horrible pain/fatigue days. Sadly, they've been out of two things I order constantly for like the last 6 weeks. Even worse, Walmart is the only place in my city that sells it.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I have a pain management appointment in just over a week - and not with who I asked to be referred to for it. I was hoping to get in with the pain management in my county that does do the medical mj, because I have found I can have pain relief and function.
The place they are sending me to, instead? They specialize in physical therapy - which has been supremely unhelpful in the past.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
So my fibromyalgia causes me a lot of pain. Usually I am lucky and it doesn’t trip over into super sensitivity to touch or clothing. I am lucky in my work dress code that lets me wear super soft shirts. But today everything hurts, my hands are swollen and even my softest sports bra is stinging me. And I can’t find a comfortable way to sit. I have the accommodation days to take, but..bills. So I am fighting myself, and worrying I will take spoons from tmw.
