RE: How can we incentivize IC failure?
Yeah. I think that's why I am not sure one can "incentivize" failure per se. (Also, if we're talking about coded stuff like rewards for purposefully bombing rolls, I think there's also an element of that's great for that person involved, but what about the other people in the scene/on the team who didn't denotate their roll and were striving to accomplish the objective, who now don't get to do so AND also don't get the reward since they didn't choose to fail oocly? It gets complicated real fast. Especially if the bomber doesn't want their PC perceived ICly as a saboteur, I'm not so sure they should get to have all those benefits for choosing to be an ooc one.)
I think if we want to IC failure to be the story driving tool that it has so much potential to be, that is far less about policy and code and almost everything to do with culture both player side and staff side.

RE: What drew you to MU*?
Also I think that answer will be different for everyone. I am an extroverted social people-loving person. That is always going to be something I gravitate towards, making new friends and acquaintances all over the place. I do that in RL, online, where ever. I like having a hobby that allows me to pursue storytelling and make friends.
That is going to be fundamentally different from someone who doesnt like to connect with people or whose primary social outlet is mushing. None of it is wrong and from the outside it might look like everyone is doing/receiving the same things (building a character, pursuing their story, doing this with others), but what we get out of it and why is going to be individual for every musher.

RE: Poll: Are MU* video games?
I wouldn't call a mush a video game to other gamers. It has been useful to just say I like to play computer games, that's my hobby that I spend hours on doing, when I am talking to mundanes who are not into interactive screen activities with whom I'm having nice pleasant conversation with.

RE: Ideal Scene Length?
2ish hours. 3 can be comfortable depending. But this is in regards to a social scene. For a GMed scene I can easily deal with 3 because theres time usually for me to stretch/walk around, ect. When I GM, I prefer to keep things under 4 hours from time of scheduled start (I build in time for scheduled breaks and unscheduled breaks). I am old. Literally I start to hurt pretty bad if I am stuck without a physical stretch break of 5-15 minutes every 90 mins or so.

RE: RL things I love
@Darinelle true. Probably not for insurance purposes. maybe if someone else was practicing their kung fu moves...

RE: Spirit Lake - Discussion
@meg Ahh okay. So it is about playerbase size then, not character type. Fair enough.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Ghost It is something that def happens at brick and mortar. A lot of these gig platforms are getting into trouble for violating laws governing how you treat private contractors as well since those are fairly strict and not very grey. You'd think these guys would learn from Microsoft how expensive that can be when the hammer finally comes down, but it's probably going to take a big hammer again.
I feel sorry for Amazon folks. They treat their actual employees like utter shit. That is one gig platform where the contractors are a) actually treated like contractors and b) treated way better than many of the employees (at least the blue vests/warehouse folks.
People like their convenience. They don't really think about how it gets to them. Not sure that will ever change here.

RE: When To Stop Listening To Those Voices
@Cupcake I agree there is a different approach when you are posing directly at someone (either naming them ICly or incorporating their name into a pose, vs when you are making a generic or environmental pose to the room and it seems to not be getting traction/inclusion.
I think that it is okay if people are totally not responding to targeted poses with their names in it (after more than one attempt) to ask if they are ICly ignoring them or if it was a missed pose (esp if the poses in the scene or rapid or long or there is something else potentially going on like tabletalk).
If it's that people are not engaging with not personal but more environmental poses then I would suggest NOT paging questions as to whether or not they're ignoring you but instead switch to direct interaction before you decide.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Ghost pretty sure that's reversing now in some jobs. Employees are cut, in favor of hiring contractors.

RE: Superstitions
I always carry a pee cup and as many barf bags as there are seats in my car. Since I put the pee cup in there I have never been stuck for 5 hours in my car a snowstorm or had anyone adult or child have an emergency in rush hour traffic. Since the barf bags while I have indeed transported up to 4 GI virus-having people in my van at a time, I have not had a multiple person simultaneous vomitfest while I've been attempting to drive.

RE: Superstitions
@Ghost We have 3 months of food/other non perishable supplies in prep for The Big One, and bug out bags for every person in the family. Thus far no major earthquake or zombie plague. You're welcome, PacificNWers.

RE: RL things I love
Also I have not done my hair, put on makeup, and picked out a real "outfit" to wear every day since like 7th grade. So I still feel like I am playing dressup.
