RE: RL Anger
Apparently threatening to become a real activist for really reals this time instead of poorly channeling Richard Spencer (with less wit and charm) is what we should aspire to.

RE: RL Anger
At least this one says different words than "newfag" and "-fag". I'm going to wipe away a tear of pride from my eye. Nice try on the tranny thing though.
I'm waiting for one of them to say "grody to the max." Why don't you kids ever pick up the actual fun terms for your hipster armchair edgelordiness?

RE: RL Anger
Ugh. We are not going to turn in to the old WORA here let's go post autopsy photos and be incredible vile and hateful on people's real life media because the link to their site was shared are we?

RE: Full spoilers: Iron Fist
Eh. I love Badass Grandma and Bad Faramir.
But yeah I think so far it's the worst written of the marvel tv series. Not as bad as the first season of Arrow, mind. But kinda on that level with less topless salmon ladders.

I tend to not like seitan that's not homemade (or in-house made, if it's at a restaurant). But that ups the time consumption (and how you make it will greatly influence the texture, like making pasta).

RE: Where's your RP at?
Probably the take away is that if you find a place you love to RP at, probably it's better to keep that to yourself or specific invites, lest you run into Hipster Gamer who is happy to tell you, "Oh. Yeah, maybe that's okay for some people, but you know, I kinda prefer something really good."

RE: Where's your RP at?
I'm going to PK @Roz now for getting between my double posts.

Deal with it, @Ghost like a real person who can handle real stress!

RE: Where's your RP at?
Except for no one has said those games shouldn't be allowed--but there has been lots of ZOMG IF U DON'T LIKE DEATH AT ANY MOMENT THEN U HATE RISK!
I don't really care about PC death being a probability, even. I don't like full consent games and avoid them; I have none of the hang ups many other players have (I'd be fine with a PC raping/seducing mine via dice effects, though if they were boring or a dick I might choose to FTB).
But when a game or player makes a big deal of how they're Edgelords 'N' Ladies or Edgy by Night because PKilling and PC death...just in my experience it's like truck balls. Usually there's a little overcompensation for something kind of lackluster going on.
Most of the excellent non-consent games I've been on didn't have to sell themselves as PK/PC death havens.

RE: Where's your RP at?
And again, I say this as a player who has had plenty of PCs PKed in different situations. As well as someone who has participated in PK as well.
The ability to do that in no way was the reason why those games felt edgy and risky. The game that had me most on th edge of my seat actually was one with a tiered consent policy, and where PK was relatively rare, though it did happen.

RE: Where's your RP at?
You're being obtuse, here a bit, Mis.
In a war against other monsters, if you want edgy there should be more at stake with every decision than whether you kill any PC. I would say if that's the only way you can feel on edge, then your storyteller and/or the environment and theme sucks/is super flat.

RE: Where's your RP at?
PKilling just does not solve the problems people think it will. I don't think that's ever likely to change. It can really lead to over the top responses to even a peep of conflict, a game stagnating because literally new PCs can get or do nothing, or hyperactive oldies afraid of everyone.
But if you develop community, opportunities, etc you are likely to have an exciting, risk-encouraging environment pk or no. PK/death by misadventure doesn't build that on its own. But a lot of people whine about it like the absence is holding them back.

RE: Where's your RP at?
But people do not. That's what I'm saying. Crappy ass rpers who overly rely on their stats or temper tantrums happen everywhere.
-
RE: Where's your RP at?
But this happens all the time in wod non-consent games anyway.
-
RE: Where's your RP at?
In addition most systems do have a get out of jail free way to get around PC death, even if it costs something in return.
I think people who fixate on death as the only measure of True Morality on a consent game are kind of weird. Even on games that are anything goes, usually people don't think like that.

RE: Where's your RP at?
Gillette, I have played on games where revoking consent or hiding behind a consent policy did mean removal from play and/or staff intervention to not allow that player to wiggle out of it.
-
RE: Where's your RP at?
Probably because like many things consent/non-consent is not either/or but a spectrum.
If you don't think that any PC should be able to rape another PC as long as they have the dice to force them into unconsciousness in combat, and that the player of the raped PC should then have to play out the consequences of that happening, why are you playing on a non-consent game?

RE: Changing Breeds: Durgar's Blessing
Please can it initially heal as a little baby arm that has to grow during the next stage of combat wangery? Please?!??

RE: Where's your RP at?
I played on PC death expected games. I've had PCs killed within a week of cg. My PC has accidentally killed another (remember dousing that guy with soapy water on SR Detroit, @Shayd ?).
There was nothing more magical or intense about Shadowrun games in the 90s that stuff today. It was just a different culture. Oh by the way they didn't have xp rollover either!
Usually people who can only think of PC death to create tension and shit are pretty unimaginative and lazy in my experience, especially on games where it is not culturally the norm. You can create tension and stuff without it or by letting people have options.
I've chosen to kill off or go with a crappy dice roll death on wod PCs. Though then you run into the issue of because it is not so cultural, some people do it to attention whore too, or to make people feel bad before they reroll their xp into a new PC.
