I don't particularly care one way or another if you don't want to endorse non-authorized GoT games on your game. What I care about is your behavior and statements towards anyone that dares to have or play on one of those games. You've taken some fairly vaguely worded statements from GRRM, some of them pretty damn old statements, and turned them into a verbal crusade against non-authorized GoT games that you're undertaking on his behalf. Without his consent, and likely without his knowledge. I'm not claiming you've attempted to shut down non-authorized games, I've never played on a GoT game or even really know anyone that has, to make that kind of statement. But your behavior and statements in this thread have been pretty clear-cut and outspoken against those games. Rather than promoting your game for its rich stories or in-depth characters, you promote it for being 'authorized'. You've based the whole of your marketing campaign for your game on that one fact. Your statements about non-authorized games have been in the same vein as slut-shaming, and that in and of itself is shameful. Insisting that your game is the only 'right' game because you have permission is pompous, arrogant, and conceited.

Personally I think it's sad that this person isn't being given the opportunity to attempt roleplay with updated behavior.
I'm not a friend of hers, nor do I role play with her, but all patterns aside, there are people in this hobby far more deserving of scarlet letters on the loose who don't suffer the same degree of scrutiny.
I, for one, refuse to partake in this witch hunt behavior.
Have you un-retired from mushing?
Because this comes off as proclaiming the higher moral ground in a race you have no horse in.
Stick to the topic and stop trying to bait.
I don't have to have a personal stake in a game to think its sad that someone is getting the hin treatment.
Now, if Spider is misbehaving? THE BOOT IN THE ASS. I just dislike that she gets all of this spewed hate while there are some definitely rapey/stalky types running free.
There's one reason why I will put Spider at the same level of alarm as those. She ruins spheres. HAS ruined spheres. Not once, not twice... EVERY. TIME. This is not something that MIGHT happen. It WILL happen. Its like inviting Custodius onto a game. You know what he's going to do. She every bit as OOCly emotionally manipulative and as much of a user as any of the 'rapey/stalky' types that you seem to think are more important. Only she will do it to you MULTIPLE TIMES. Because its never her fault, you see. She is a master at getting people to believe her, to forgive her. To give her 'just one more chance'... because really, it wasn't her fault. The 'rapey/stalky' types are pretty easy to spot. They get called out and suddenly nobody wants to be near them. But Spider is a cult of personality. She draws people in. And she keeps them coming back for more no matter how much abuse she's heaped on them. This woman has something like a 20 year history of doing exactly this, on every game she has ever played. There is no 'changing' or 'getting better' for her. 20 years have shown her that all she has to do is bide her time and people like you will open the door.

RE: The elusive yes-first game.
Okay, so.. really nitpicky but... please, PLEASE for the love of God... stop forcing people to have a desc before approval. Its a pointless barrier to RP. More people desc their character at the start of a scene than ever, and forcing a desc in the 11th hour just leads to shitty descing. Hell, I have a generic desc (9 times out of 10 it doesn't even remotely describe the character I'm playing) ready that I can slap on JUST to get past that bit of stupidity. You have a wiki, right? People will be making pages, and presumably, including pics? Cool, let them run free and desc the character on their own time.

RE: The Apology Thread
@Ghost said in The Apology Thread:
I apologize to a few players back in the day, whom I won't name specifically for their anonymity. I believed it's just a game and what is IC stays IC, so I muscled through a few things, putting IC first. After all was said and done, I realize due to OOC issues, angry pages, etc, that it wasn't JUST a game for you. Regardless of my feelings that IC should always stay IC, looking back, I can't help but feel like you were another soul on the other end of the keyboard, going through whatever kinds of shit that led you to get triggered.
I was playing a game and doubled down on what I thought was proper for the game and for my character, and I can't help but wonder sometimes just how real the hurt was on your side. For whatever reason the hurt existed, or why, I hope things are going better on your end, wherever you are.
In the end for me, it was just a game, but it doesn't matter how justified the hurt on your end was. I know better now than I did years ago how personally invested some people get, and I regret that my character choosing X or Y set another living human being into that kind of headspace.
I know at least four or five times, I went "fuck their moody shit" and turned off the empathy because I wasn't willing to dig through OOC weeds with strangers.
Earlier this year, I reunited and made amends with someone I hurt from 5W, and in retiring from the hobby, it might be one of the most soul-rewarding experiences I'm taking away from it.
I'm sorry, but this one feels a bit disingenuous to me. You're not apologizing for your actions, you're apologizing for their reactions. I've gotten kinda good at spotting this. Years of exposure to Spider tends to make one very good at spotting the 'I'm sorry you took this the wrong way' type of non-apology.

RE: The 100: The Mush
And now, to all those that nay-sayed me when I said this is exactly what was going on, and was told I was overreacting and that things were fine and it was just me (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back before Grounder PCs were even allowed!)....
I TOLD YOU SO!
Ahhhhhhhhh, that feels better.

RE: Alternative Formats to MU
I don't know about anyone else, but I will personally keep important things not just in separate TABS but in separate WINDOWS. Part of this is because of my dual monitor setup. I can run Amazon Prime Video in one window and drag it over to my 'offhand' monitor while keeping Facebook or MSB up on my 'main' monitor. I would likely do the same for any web-based game. Simply separate that one out into its own window and pull it to one monitor or the other so I can keep it separated from whatever I'm doing between poses.

RE: Scenes You Have Always Wanted to Have...
I stopped playing antagonist characters because of the white hats that would crawl out of the woodwork to jump all over your shit for the smallest of things in a desperate bid to validate their white hatedness.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@Tehom I would posit that if people are struggling with current systems due to poor documentation, then clarification of current systems to ease use WOULD be more important than implementation of new systems that will suffer the same problems as the current systems. Ensuring that your players know how to easily navigate systems and files is probably one of the bigger things that should be prioritized (and often isn't).

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Tangent Peeve: When I was pregnant last... having everybody and their brother asking about how its progressing, how I feel, if the baby is kicking, etc. every time they saw me. And FFS, do not touch the pregnant lady belly!!! I don't like being touched by strangers in the best of circumstances, let alone when I'm far enough into a pregnancy that people want to touch the belly.

RE: Blood of Dragons
Actually, what you've done is interpret his statement how YOU want them to be interpreted in the way that best suits YOU and your desires. Until you can show me an actual conversation between GRRM and you personally wherein you point-blank ask the man if he wants all other non-authorized GoT games shut down and he very clearly says yes in response to that direct question... all you're doing is trying to force your spin on a statement he made that may or may not even have a context bearing on this particular situation.
TLDR; Saying 'man this bugs me/creeps me out/is annoying' is NOT the same as saying 'why are these people doing this, they need to stop right now, I never gave my permission for this'.

RE: Where's your RP at?
Why are people so afraid to have characters die? Why is death such a terrible thing in a game? Yeah, its the end of a story. Not the only story, just one of many. You can make a new story. Stories don't have to stop just because one person dies. The narrative continues under a new voice.

RE: Optional Realities & Project Redshift
@Jaunt Oh I'm far from territorial protector mode. If you'll notice, I've barely posted in this thread. I don't have any real dog in the fight, I've never been to OR, I have no real interest in the types of discussions the three of you from OR say happen. But I have followed this thread, and I have noticed a pattern. Your posts and responses tend to fall into one of three categories... defensive, aggressive, or playing the 'high road' card. You seem to either blatantly disregard or are unable to process the tone of a given post (reading defensively), then immediately post back to deny nearly anything anyone says to you in an increasingly aggressive manner (posting aggressively), then finally, when the other party is ready to shake the ever living shit out of you for the previous two... you hide behind the 'context', which you're only seeing in one very small corner of the site, or suddenly 'remove' yourself from the equation (taking the high road).
There were bad first impressions made in the thread on both sides. But you are in our house. It behooves you to be the one to amends. Instead, you continue to defend your own continued poor attitude while pointing at ours and saying we're being mean.
CONTEXT: When I say you're acting like Spider, what I mean is that you say things that are designed to be irritating and obnoxious while not really stepping over the line into outright rudeness. Then, when called on it, you step back and play the wounded party who didn't do anything wrong, or 'refuses to get into a slap-fight' even though you've been taking potshots the entire time. The majority of us here have spent anywhere from the last 2-10 years dealing with someone like that on nearly every WoD MU* that's occurred in the past decade. Her name was Spider. So maybe you can see why this tactic is getting a little extra irritating now.
And finally... this is, I think, the real grain of sand that's irritating the oyster. You don't know us. You have no context for this group as a whole. Motivations, shared history, you were never part of any of that. But you still insist on sitting there and talking about how we're the ones that don't understand and don't comprehend. So yeah... we could talk. But you have to recognize that you're the guest in this house, and while Mom Or Dad (Moderators) might allow you to stay despite the attitude, nobody here is going to want to talk to you if you can't or won't adjust it.
PS. This isn't to say some of the people posting here haven't been being inflammatory or rude. There's been some pretty good mud-slinging that's happened. Nobody here is innocent. But again, you're the guest so the onus is on you.

RE: Where's your RP at?
@Sunny Not accepting stupid character death based on your own decisions and dice rolls is very much saying 'no, I choose not to accept the rules as they are, I don't want to be done so I refuse to play the game by the rules'. You are effectively invalidating everyone else that plays by the rules because you don't want to lose your character to a stray bullet, falling meteor, chunk of frozen shit from a passing airplane, whatever. Not every death will be super meaningful. And frankly, the random deaths that occur from the very rare super bad rolls just let people know 'hey, don't forget you are playing on a game where this shit can happen, WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS OR ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES'.
@Arkandel See, and I loved those rolls. Some of my favorite scenes came from one side or the other losing that roll and silly shit following. I had a character get TREED by a frenzying Gangrel in badger form. Still makes me laugh. But this is also why I tended to avoid Elysium as THE FIRST place a new character would show up. Because it provoked too many of the rolls all at once. I would generally meet people one or two at a time, and wait until I knew enough people that I could pop into Elysium and not immediately need to make a dozen rolls. And frankly... not using that mechanic felt like it was gypping the Gangrel out of their biggest weakness.

RE: Dead Celebrity Thread
@Vorpal We don't have to worry about Betty White. At the end of the world its gonna be Keith Richards and Betty White, drinking shots of Jack Daniels and telling dirty jokes. And Betty White will be winning.

RE: The 100: The Mush
@ixokai I can say that the uncanny knack to run into all the antagonism ICly is a LARGE part of why I left the game. I have a stressful enough RL, I don't need my every interaction in a game to be some shit-slinging hatefest. There's 'conflict between PCs' and there's 'I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!'. When you can't step into a scene without SOMEONE going batshit insane over whatever, its no longer any fun to play a character. I was told staff would be 'monitoring' this behavior, but I left long before they started doing anything about it. And maybe my tolerance level is just running low, but given the bent of the current conversation, it looks more like my prediction was right and staff are far less likely to say anything while they're getting to have fun with what they want. Its that whole 'well I'm not having any problems, so I don't understand why you're upset' thing. What you're comfortable with and what someone else is comfortable with could be wildly different things. And hey, if you're running a game largely for your own preferences, that's your prerogative. But you should make that absolutely crystal clear from the get-go, not just shrug and wonder why people aren't having as much fun as you are.
