@insomniac7809 I got this so much at Walmart. The sheer dichotomy of not wanting to give out their email address, but being perfectly willing to give up their credit card information is stunning. I had a woman try to give me her Social Security Number once, as if I were the IRS or welfare office.

Could someone explain why its necessary to know at all times where or who other players are with, save to know where ones faction RP might be? Anything more directed at a specific character I would assume can be arranged via a quick page.
Edited to add "at all times" because @Templari pointed out the obvious sometimes use Thank you T). I am picking at the logic that Unfindable is always bad, or based on bad apple logic.
There's another reason not to have unfindable. If I log on as a guest to a new game and see no one on the grid? I log off. WHO is not advertising activity. +where does.
Given the number of people that will idle on a grid, I wouldn't call +where an accurate portrayal of activity.
Subject of Unfindable: While the following comparison would be more accurate if Unfindable could be applied to specific bits rather than blanket... here goes nothing!
I see the Unfindable flag acting as something like a restraining order. Person A is being harassed and/or stalked across a game by Person B. Yes, Person A -should- toss up a quick job about Person B's harassment. Get it on record, it may not be enough NOW, but with enough instances, action could be taken. THAT SAID. It is absolutely fine for someone to then ALSO set themselves Unfindable to avoid dealing with further harassment.
To use Sunny's example... lets say you call the cops cause someone came in and stole your stuff. Are you still going to leave your door unlocked afterwards? The police (staff, in this case) cannot/will not always take immediate action. So you're just going to leave your door unlocked for the same jackass to finish taking your stuff while you're waiting for the police to build their case?

RE: Good TV
@arkandel Well, we know that Ant-Man manages to get out of 'superjail' that he, Falcon, and Hawkeye were left in at the end of Civil War (his own post-Civil War movie with Wasp shows that clearly). Presumably the other two do as well, but its just as likely that Falcon and Hawkeye are in hiding (ie. minor characters that are unncessary to the plot) after the prison break so they don't get taken back to the prison.
@thenomain I SEE YOU, SIR! You will have to try harder than that!

@Tempest coughs You DO realize he was using D&D as the reference there, not WoD, right?

RE: XP Rollover
Every D&D game I've played in where I've lost a character (read: all of them), the DM had me roll up as same level as the party. Then again, the main DM I played under was notably sadistic, so if everyone had to roll a level under the lowest player, we would all soon be lower level than the encounter we were playing.
That said, I'll admit to fully taking advantage of the 100% xp rollover on TR. I don't always use all of the xp up front, but it lets me start at a level I'm comfortable with being at while still leaving me a cache of xp I can dip into if I realize I forgot something or need to pick up something quick to cover whatever it is that needs doing at the moment.

RE: Capped XP vs Staggered XP?
@Ganymede Normally I wouldn't get involved in these kinds of discussions... but something you mentioned pinged on a memory so I felt it might be prudent to share this.
I have nothing against new players to a game. Everyone is one when they first start with -any- game. But I also don't appreciate it when I've spent months and/or years building up an IC base of influence in whatever arena... only to have some random upstart from nowhere pop up and smash all my hard work into the ground because they got 'catch up' xp. How is that fair to all the hard work, effort, and xp that I invested into the game only to have someone else ruin my fun because 'everyone should start equal'. Where is the new player's equal share in the work that went into building that sphere of influence? Where is their equal share in the effort put into making contacts and allies? They didn't go out and schmooze and deal with anyone... they just spent some xp and maybe wrote a few sentences about it in a background. There is no 'equal footing' there.
By insisting on making everything 'equal', you're actually telling the people that put in the time and effort since the beginning that they're LESS valuable than the person just stepping in the door. Because that person can simply buy the dots and ruin your work.

@silentsophia Hun, as a single mother of two kids, who works less than 30 hours a week... I -still- can't get TANF or cash aid. It just straight up denies my application.

RE: XP Rollover
I tend to treat my characters more like I'm playing D&D than anything. I try not to get too attached to them so that when they DO that most awesome/stupid/funny/ballsy/crazy/cool thing and it gets them killed? I can be satisfied that they died well and move on to the next one. I don't WANT to cling or be that invested into my characters... that way lies HM & TR madness. I want to be able to acknowledge that nWoD/GMC is a lethal world to play in and accept the fact that my character will likely die (or get boring, or have the sphere go dead, etc.) and be okay with dropping them in favor of something shinier.
Mind, this does not mean I would suggest 100% xp rollover. But I do like that its easy to drop a character and pick up a new one without wondering if I'll retain interest/stay alive/whatever long enough to make starting from scratch worth it.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Its because they're trying to phase out pretty much all free government aid that they possibly can. They've started by making the standards crazy... the next step will be to start removing the 'unnecessary' programs. You know, the ones that no longer have that many people utilizing them. >.>

RE: Influence/Reputation system?
+1 to @Arkandel. This was a HUGE thing on TR. People would complain constantly that they weren't given their due attention for whichever stat. They seem to fail to realize if that you meet up with Rich Supermodel #842 every day for lunch... you're going to eventually stop being awed and amazed by their looks/wealth/status/etc.
@Coin That's because everyone wants ALL the shinies. Frankly, some of the most fun I've had was playing a dirty, poor, homeless, scrawny, average-looking characters. Then again, I've also found that I largely hate playing bullshit social scenes where you (empirical) try to awe/cow/overwhelm everyone around you with your awesomeness and stats. I'd rather go steal an artifact or kill Monster of the Week and loot their corpses or drag race cars and have the cops show up or anything that could have some potential meaning to the character. And at this point I'd rather not RP than have to attend one more 'charity' function set up so people can show off how pretty princess special snowflake they are.
Syndrome said it best, ladies and gents. When everyone is super... no one is.

Yeah, I agree. I've had a lot of fun playing both rich and poor, etc. But a lot of people use games to fulfill their own little fantasies--and especially try to force those fantasies on others.
How many poor characters have suddenly found themselves the recipients of a wealthy lifestyle because a rich PC felt like it?
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. And having your character express disdain or lack of want for it is nearly always met with a scoffing 'but everyone wants to be rich!' or 'but you'll grow to love it' kind of remark.

Shaving is one of those things that gets easier the more you do it. Also, you CANNOT use shitty $2 razors. You -will- cut yourself all up. Splurge, get the nicer razor, and shave in the shower.

RE: Influence/Reputation system?
@Derp See, and I hate the Doors thing GMC introduced. Hate. It. I would rather completely fuck over my character by having them immediately and unequivocally agree to whatever the Social Mogul wants than be subjected to the torture of the GMC Social system.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Waxing is too painful for me to want do it every 4-6 weeks or whatever. And I'm not sure what the laser hair removal would do to my tattoos, so I stick to shaving. I generally use the 4 blade Venus, but I've actually been looking into trying a guy's razor. I want to see if it works a little better for being meant to be used on faces, because yes, sensitive skin.

RE: Influence/Reputation system?
@Ganymede It was. And if that's all it was used for, I wouldn't care. But its not. It gets applied to player against player social interactions as well. And that's where I draw my line.
