I -love- and cherish my days off simply because hanging around the house means I can give no fucks and go braless. Should I be? Probably not. Fucks Given: 0 And yes, all underwire, all the time. Even my sports bra has underwire. The support is necessary!

RE: Influence/Reputation system?
@Derp I will be happy to be part of the solution, when the solution doesn't require me to sit around for HOURS AT A TIME, while YOU get to do things and I wait on you to be done. See, that whole 'roleplaying' thing? I kind of want to do the PLAYING part of it. Not the 'sitting around whilst Other Player rolls 2 dozen times, having to pause between each roll to check for the next step or figure out what is the next best move'. Its the equivalent of having 2 people get into a combat and then having one person sit around constantly waiting for the other person to decide what type of attack they want to use. I won't do the latter any more than I would the former, so why should I be forced into doing the former? Where's the fun in it? But then, I never bitched about the previous social rules of using 1-2 contested rolls determine the outcome. I rather liked it that way. It was efficient and got people back to the RP that the hobby is supposed to be about.
You want to play with Doors, throw it into a job and let me know when you're done. I'll be over there, having an actual scene with actual posing.
Besides, from what I can tell, it would take someone with low social stats and/or horrible luck rolling to actually -lose- a social contest. Much like with nwod physical combat, it seems weighted on the side of the 'attacker' with the 'defender' simply sitting there being worn down by a barrage of verbal assaults until they either give in completely or do the offer an alternative thing. I have yet to see anything set in the rules for the target to actually fight back, verbally speaking.

RL Things I Love:
I don't care how 'bad' or 'mean' this makes me sound... I love that both of my kids have been out of the house for the last week. Its been so quiet and nice, so easygoing... I'm going to miss it when they come back, even though I miss both of them.

RE: Influence/Reputation system?
Fair enough... but twice as bad. It really is just like combat now. Everything will take forever to resolve. Its bad enough combat takes forever to resolve, now going to hang out at the local bar can take just as long with less actual posing. Just agreeing to the whatever and avoiding the whole boring mess is looking more and more enticing as an option.

RE: RL things I love
Don't get me wrong, I miss mine when they go. But one is nearly 16 and one just turned 12, so when I say its been -years- since I've had a break from them? I mean they were still small children. >.>

RE: PRP or SRP
Total agreement with @2mspris and @Coin. Staff really should have active ST's running some sort of 'main plot' for the game, with PRP's should be set for more personal/small group encounters. Some of the best plots of been in have been player run, so I definitely like the idea of still having them, but I do miss having staff ST's that are running a larger plot that can affect the game.

Haunted Memories Changeling Sphere. It took players to want to finish the storyline, but finish it did. No regrets.
That was a plot that I still look back on fondly. One that was so good I insisted on showing up for the final events despite being so sick I actually passed the fuck out in the middle of the giant damn combat. Gave heads up that it might happen and gladly accepted having my character backgrounded for the rest of the scene. The one and only time I've attempted RP while I'm that sick.

RE: Dead Celebrity Thread
@Coin Dude, if I get haunted by Dick Van Patten, I will have SO MANY questions for him!

RE: Feelings of not being wanted...
@Roz Oh sure, a call of boredom shouldn't be a sign that people need to offer them something to do. If I mention it these days, its generally because someone asked me how I'm doing. And its usually followed by me booting up a game and fixing the problem. XD Just trying to say that having someone offer to let you into a 5+ person event isn't always going to be the cure for boredom, and not everyone will want to or be able to deal with that kind of scene.

I'm curious. If there were a significant portion of the Oregon population that had any sort of health care wait, wouldn't they contact the governor or their state representative and thus make him aware of the issue?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Ahem. Sorry. Maybe for someone who isn't American this isn't a laughable idea. Which is all I have to say about our health care system compared to the rest of the civilized world, really.
don't Americans run to their representatives if they have a problem?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAno. The representatives we have have their campaigns largely funded by the same corporations we would complain to them about. The chance of them risking their funding to do anything about the problem is.. slim to none.

RE: How hard should staff enforce theme?
@Pyrephox And I have personal experience with getting shut out of a sphere because I tried to play a game TO THEME, while the other group decided it should be all pretty princesses and tea parties. They aren't necessarily trying to ruin the game, but they have zero qualms about ruining YOUR experience if you don't play the same game they are. And yes, this is multiple time occurrences.

RE: RL Anger
All the voting in the world don't mean a thing if both sides are being funded by large corporations. And good luck trying to institute that!

RE: Making an Isolated Theme Work
Depending on how large an influx of new people you're looking at, one can always Deus Ex Machina a new person into the Isolation group. Happens all the time with movies and shows. Another plane crashed on the deserted island, a small group of hikers found the crazy cannibal's cabin, someone got hit on the head and woke up inside the dome, etc. There's a neverending supply of excuses for bringing people in that -haven't- 'been here all along'.

Well no wonder Gotham is a rotting cesspool of a city... its in Jersey! flees

RE: Making an Isolated Theme Work
@faraday Not to me. The good shows work it into a plot line, give the characters a chance to figure out how the Hell so many random strangers keep finding their way there. Hell, some shows turn it into a running gag for the audience!
Random Stranger #362 has entered the <insert place here>. Current Leader rolls his eyes and asides to his new Love Interest, "Man, if we keep getting new people in, we're going to need a bigger island!" Cue laugh track, cut to commercial.
The only thing I would look at is the size of the Isolated Spot you're trying to put the game in. If its a small area with few resources... that's not going to work for a MU*. That's why stuff like Walking Dead or other post-apocalyptic settings tend to work better. Small groups can still be isolated from one another, but the playing field is cast and can support a large number of players. The desert island scenario can only stretch so far before there's too many people for the island to support. If you're looking to sandbox or invite-only, that's not quite so big a deal. But if you're looking to open to the public, you'll need to make sure your isolated area can support a very large number of people.

RE: Make us love your favorite game
oWoD Vampire: The Masquerade, 2nd Ed. Preference for Sabbat over Camarilla. Playing the bad guy was never so much fun.
nWoD Changeling: The Lost. Sue me, I love the story of slowly becoming the very thing you fight against.
Also, I would play the shit out of some Scion.
And I love me some 3.5 D&D/Pathfinder.
