Hey, bacon is a valid choice of add-on to many foods. I'm not saying go crazy and make giant balls of bacon or the Leaning Tower of Bacon. But my family has a number of recipes that call for bacon to add flavor and crunch. What a comedian says during a routine or some idiot on the net says right before they have a heart attack is NOT the end-all, be-all of bacon.

RE: Which MU* telnet clients are still popular?
I have always, and will always, use SimpleMU. It has everything I want, outside of 256 color, and I'm comfortable with its use.

RE: [Eldritch] Sphere Caps & Waiting Lists
As a suggestion, you (being all those working on the Eldritch game) may want to at least note somewhere that if a sphere (or spheres) become too crowded that staff will at least temporarily close said spheres to new applications until they feel they're able to take on more people.

Fuck a bunch of Apple! I refuse to support anything so overpriced and ridiculously unwilling to work with ANYTHING not Apple.

RE: [Eldritch] Sphere Caps & Waiting Lists
Nnnnnnnnnnngh... hate Werewolf Renown. Renown is why I DON'T play Werewolf. Glory Renown is about the easiest damn thing in the WORLD to get. Beat up a vampire and took his blood money? Glory. Had a lesser spirit talk smack so you slapped it into place? Glory. Pure bitch got stupid and you spanked her til she ran home? Glory. So to me, not really the best example.
Should Renown expectations change in 2E, I will be more than happy to look at them and reevaluate my opinion. But until I don't have to spend IC -years- watching over a locus to get a dot of Purity? Meh. MU*wise, some Renown are just easier to gain than others by current standards, and it makes playing anything but a 'rawrkill' character something you HAVE to pester people for scenes over. Which in turn leads to Ark's point. I don't want to have to ask someone to run a scene for me just so I can advance normally within the splat. Especially when no other splat really demands such things.

RE: RL things I love
@surreality It SO is! I went last year and it was just fucking AMAZING. I got to sit and chat with Bill Moseley for like, 15 minutes!! Got to find out his inspiration for Otis AND for George Buckman (he reprised Robert Englund's role for the sequel to 2001 Maniacs). Got to chat with Tom Savini for a good ten minutes too, asked him about Dusk Til Dawn, Machete, Planet Terror... and basically what its like as a Man of Many Hats. Two of the judges from Face Off were there, AND I talked to Brandon Quintin Adams (The People Under The Stairs, The Mighty Ducks). Got to meet GEORGE FUCKING ROMERO. AND KANE FUCKING HODDER. He signed my Camp Crystal Lake tanktop. Its my most prized possession. Got to meet Doug Bradley (Pinhead of Hellraiser fame), which was seriously cool.
All in all, its a REALLY fun time between the people, the exhibits, the panels... just so amazing. And everyone is totally chill and cool.

RE: What are you playing...?
BITN. Was on the 100, but I found it to be a bit railroad-y and more drama than I care to deal with in my free time hobby game.

It doesn't work if you don't call it Your Precious.

RE: [Eldritch] Sphere Caps & Waiting Lists
I gave my opinion because its something that's bugged me about Werewolf for ages. I don't expect my viewpoint to be popular, or enacted as rule on a game. If @Eerie and @Coin feel that Renown should be justified in some way, whether through written justifications or logged scenes, that's up to them. Its their game, they get to make the rules.

RE: Windows 8 & 10 - Thread Updated
Windows 10 sure as Hell hasn't stopped Kickass Torrents or Vuze. I use both from time to time and I've yet to have an issue with it on 10. This whole 'the sky is falling' is just the usual hand-waving screamium from the doom-saying sheeple that read something without truly comprehending what's being said. Fuck those people.
READING COMPREHENSION, MOTHERFUCKERS. DO YOU HAVE IT?!?!?
(Not you two, obviously, or even necessarily anyone on MSB... just in general)
Edit: These are the type of people I always assume are going to end up in a soiled adult diaper, locked away in a Faraday cage and blogging about 'then end of the internet/world' or other such crazy tripe. High-tech versions of the homeless dudes on street corners with 'THE END IS NIGH' cardboard signs, basically.

RE: What's That Game's About?
@Arkandel Oh absolutely. No amount of book say-so will stop people from getting uppity over 'touching their cake'. That the 'cake' in question isn't theirs to hoard, of course, will be completely ignored.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Peeve: I miss Houston's crazy-fast lane. I'm back in Florida stuck behind the blue-haired granny snowbird doing 55 in the fast lane on the interstate.
Edit: And yes, her blinker has been on for the last FIVE FUCKING MILES.

RE: How Many Alts Would An Alt User Alt If An Alt User Could Use Alts
@Ganymede I would agree with you, but you rarely see that happen in practice. Staff ST's simply don't happen nearly as often as they should. I have yet to see an actual story being told on a game, or even in a sphere, since... TR? Its been PRP's all the way down. So frankly, at that point, what staff wants becomes irrelevant since there are no steps being taken by them to actually push or keep a sphere going in any particular direction. Once its been left up to the players to provide the fun, with staff merely administrating? Its just a series of disjointed and unconnected scenes with no real direction.

RE: RL Anger
Dear God, please save me from useless jargon. If I have to hear one more pithy, meaningless catchphrase that has no context in the business world from my manager one more time, I'll let him know exactly what he can do with his 110% and which orifice I think would be a lovely holder for his synergy.

RE: Third Sphere Question.
I could see that being good for a game where one or the other aren't playable, but doing that and having both spheres as PC's would inevitably cause more problems than the whole thing is worth. Antagonist PC's, whether they're playing as known Antagonists or just being an opposition, rarely ends well. Every game I've seen allow them ends up dropping them within months because inevitably somebody gets approved for a PC that's only there to piss in everyone's cornflakes, IC -and- OOC.

RE: RL Anger
Bitch for the Day: Motherfuckers that either will not or cannot train their goddamn dogs. If you get a dog, TRAIN IT. I do not wish to be accosted by your fucking furball every time I step outside my door. I will stop coming over to your house, no matter how good of a friend you are, if you have piss and shit on your floors. If you cannot afford to properly care for a dog, don't fucking buy one.
And I swear to God if I have to hear one more whining rant about someone's 'furry children' and how it isn't fair that they aren't given the same consideration as someone with actual children, then I will start leaving a bloody path of destruction in my wake.

I wonder when it came about that IC cornflake pissing was a problem OOCly. I've always valued most of the people who antagonize my PC. I say most, because yes there are a select few who abuse it.
I think if you police the problem players on an individual basis you can have antagonist factions.
It wasn't that IC cornflake pissing was a problem. It was that people were pissing in cornflakes both ICly and OOCly. The IC is one thing, that was often quite fun. Some of my fondest TR Werewolf memories are compliments of a PC Pure. The OOC was the issue.
Talking about policing problem players is easy. But look also at how difficult it is to screen people while they're apping, or how much headache it can be to police them after the fact. Its generally easier to not allow PC antagonists to begin with.

RE: Leadership, Spotlight, and PCs of Staffers
@Ganymede I'm addressing specifically scenes where a staffer is running a prp for their own character in that post. That said. I've actually had this come up as a staffer, and personally? I declined the accompany them (for reasons), but my character gave them the names of a few others that would be happy to accompany them on that mission. OOCly I explained that I felt uncomfortable with bringing my character along on a scene that I would be running and that I thought it was a good idea for them to bring others along. It gave them a reason to meet and form connections with a few other PC's and removed me from potential CoI.
My overall feeling is this... if you cannot, by rules, have two of your own PC's in the same scene? Then you should not have your PC actively participating in a scene that you are running. Even though the NPC's are NPC's? They're still characters under your control, and it behooves you to adhere to the policies of the game. If you're going to be deeply involved in running the NPC's, then where is the difference between running the NPC's and your own PC, and running two PC's in the same scene? I've seen staff that treated their NPC's like PC's, to the point of protecting them from PC's after blatantly fucking up. How am I supposed to give the leeway for one type of scene but not the other just because X is staff and Y isn't?
